  • I've still only managed to ride this new (to me) bike around the block so far.
    Winter in Scotland is a frustrating time to buy yourself a new bike. But it does at least save you a few quid!

    Nice little vid Rob. Makes sense and sometimes it's best to sit on an idea and then all becomes clear. Bike looks great and certainly a good half way house between the other two. 😎👍

      Yeah Chris. Now that I have it I think there's more scope for me to tinker with it than I'd have had with the Svartpilen 701.
      Still fancy grabbing one further down the road. That engine is a peach. Next version will be a twin. Probably the same one that's in the 790 or 890. Big hike in power too.
      Will lose something along the way.

    Congratulations on your new purchase. I also own a Desert Sled 2018 and picked it up for $7200. with 7100 miles.. I’ve owned over 25 bikes in my life and this is by far my favorite all around.
    As you stated in ur video if I was a kid and was going to draw a bike the Ducati would be it!! Love this bike.
    I’ve done quite a few modifications to it and maybe I’ll make a video soon.
    I’m looking forward to future videos of you and your new bike again congratulations. Great choice..

      Good to hear from you Benny, thanks.
      I'm itching to get going with this bike and finally get a proper ride on it, but the weather isn't playing ball yet.
      I've a couple of things ready to go, but need to run it in stock for comparison videos and first impressions so they'll have to wait a while yet.
      It's good to hear from other owners. Kind of puts my mind at rest that they are enjoying the bike. Especially from someone who's had that many bikes beforehand 😉👍🏻

    Sold my Svartpilen in August, and is looking for a new bike. I am looking at exactly this DS, there is one left in Denmark and i cannot find any used ones. I'm 188cm and while the svart was fun around town, it was awful for longer rides.
    How do you like the DS so far, and may i ask how tall you are?

    • @CampbellZeroOne
      @CampbellZeroOne  7 месяцев назад

      Hi there @flyver Good to hear from you.
      I'm around 177cm or so. Getting on a bit so maybe I'm even shorter than that these days 😉
      I can't flat foot while sitting on the DS, but have the balls of both feet on the floor.
      Still not ridden it since buying it. But the day is coming soon for sure. The weather is improving all of the time and hopefully the gritters don't need to be out salting the roads for much longer.
      I'll post a first ride video as soon as I get out. And there's a new DS video out this Friday. So keep watching.
      I'm going to really miss my wee Svartpilen once it's gone. But as you said, 300 + mile days on it are a bit of a chore. The DS should make life easier.
      Good luck with your search.

    Hey Rob. First of all nice video. When I watched it, I thought I was watching myself cuz I've been looking for a new bike over the last 4 months and I had decided to buy the DS a few minutes before. What are the odds, uh? Like yourself, I was sittin on the fence between 3 bikes: Triumph 400 X, Frantic Caballero 500 Rally and the DS. But the 400 X is too short for my height (6'3") and the Caballero is too wimpy cuz I need more power uphill due to my light weight (lb 243). I found a 2019 DS at € 8900 (£ 7600) which I'll be checkin next tuesday and if its sound, I'll buy it. Greetings from Italy.

    • @CampbellZeroOne
      @CampbellZeroOne  6 месяцев назад

      @ALBIEurope Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
      Yeah, at 6'3" I can see why you'd be having a few problems finding a bike to fit you. The DS is nice and tall though, so I reckon you'll feel right at home on there.
      I'm itching to get out on my one and make a first impressions video. But the weather isn't playing ball, and winter keeps throwing more snow/ice and salt at us. It's been a long three months since buying my bike. But hopefully I'll get out soon.
      Where about in Italy are you? I've only ever been to northern Italy skiing, but the roads there looked like they'd be perfect for the Scrambler.
      Hope things go well on your test ride and that you're hitting the trails soon!

      @@CampbellZeroOne I live on the lake Maggiore, which is the perfect location for bike rides all year round. Temperature here is pretty good even in wintertime, when it's not rainy. The many passes on the Alps are close for nice rides from spring through fall and the beautiful Liguria is pretty close too when the weather here is aweful. That's why most bikers here don't suspend their insurance. Should you ever come down here, which I strongly suggest you to do on winter, give me a holler and I'll be glad to let you join my ridin group for some nice eating rides (as you know, for us a nice lunch break is key to a successful one😁).

      @@ALBIEurope Now there's an offer 😁 Likewise if you ever happen to take a trip to northern Scotland. I'd be happy to point you in the direction of some good riding roads.
      I'll need to check out those places on Google maps. Sounds fantastic being able to ride all year and keep your skills up. The first few rides at the start of our season we always feel a little rusty. The roads aren't in good condition and car drivers aren't looking out for motorbikes.
      Let me know how you get on with the DS next week 👍🏻

    • @CampbellZeroOne
      @CampbellZeroOne  8 месяцев назад

      If only 😂
      Scotland looks like you can do that, but you are only welcome on trails if you are on foot, MTB or horse back. And even those people fight amongst themselves.
      If I want to get properly off-road I need to find a friendly landowner. Other than that it's the occasional farm track or getting 'lost' and popping out on a forest service road 😉
