- In this episode of Fashion Doll Flashback, I'm taking a deep dive looking at the war raging between Mattel Toys and Simba, the company behind Steffi Love. After allegedly copying both Barbie as well as My Scene dolls, the war went to court in 2004 where it was settled once and for all.

This is so on point especially considering Barbie was NEVER an original, the first Barbie ever was a carbon copy of Bild Lilli and just marketed towards a different audience and from that point on Mattel has cloned every other original doll under the sun passing it as Barbie's new thing and using all sorts of corporate espionage tactics and litigious intimidation to bankrupt other competitors and hold a monopoly of the industry, Barbie's creator was a convicted criminal who never had a single original idea of her own and it's been documented how she even back stabbed everyone that once helped her get to where she was including her own company... I find it amusing when other people call smaller company dolls clones when Barbie is the original copycat clone, the only difference is she has the money and fame to bully others into keeping their dirty secret...

Gotta admit.. These days, Steffi Love has released dolls with much better qualities than Barbie. Theyre also able to avoid the painted-tops and molded clothes to the dolls, which I think is the downfall of Mattel and Hasbro doll brands.

Oh my god this video helped me... back in the days I had a doll that looked like a My Scene, I can't find it in my parents' house so I am not able to check her to see her manufacturers infos behind her head or back... i tried to look on youtube what dolls copie or were inspired by bratz or my scene but no one had the answer to this mistery I had, i think I have the answer now that this video appeared magically on my RUclips homepage. Thank you so much
What I find ironic is the fact that Maternity Midge was considered so controversial that Mattel discontinued her, but Steffi Love currently goes about selling pregnant mommy dolls. Almost everyone thinks that Maternity Midge was weird, but there's still a market for those types of dolls going on today.

steffi love back in the 90s was a stronger competitor to barbie I always prefer lines like city walker, easy rider and ofc SLAY N BOARD (my favorite❤️) than the glamorous ugly ass lines barbie had back then
but now steffi love reduce their quality and its a shame that Barbie’s reboot followed a more modern and updated path but steffi just stayed in the pink shitty stuff 😭😭😭

Yes. I do think Steffi is due a makeover to make her look a bit more modern and while the clothes are still great, I am sad the quality of the dolls really nosedived in recent years. She still is among the biggest selling dolls in Europe and probably ranks number 1 as far as sheer volume of the amount of dolls sold goes. Thank you for watching 💖
Thank you for making this video. Doll collectors of Barbie already have a love-hate relationship with the company. This video gives us pause. Yes, I still collect Barbie. But not without some reservation.
I didn't know there was such things behind mattel 😲, btw as barbie collector I only collect vintage barbies because today's ones sucks, and now knowing that I'm more happy that I quit buying mattel stuff!
