Gosh I wish we would get the Steffi love outfits in the states. You’re so lucky. I love the overall style of Steffi. I’ve been buying her for years for the clothes since she gives what Barbie isn’t. Although I do plan on getting that Barbie pink and white dress. But I’ll be adding details.
I really like the first one with the puff sleeves. It looks similar to Fashionista 182, but without the bottom ruffle.
I actually like the heart ruffle dress best of the one’s you showed us.
Hello - The beauty of the small prints is if you like it, do get it, since that run of material will be the last you will ever see after they order only enough for that particular run of fashion paks. Mattel have always been very thrifty and use up every scrap of fabric. They learnt that lesson in their 70s lean period. Some of the new prints are really sweet and unmissable. Happy collecting!
The peak of Barbie fashion wasn’t the 90s. ‘59-‘75 is prime fashion time for Barbie, at least for me.

My favorite of the Barbie fashions was the pink dress though the bottom looked a bit cheap to me. If I had access to them, I would by both the Steffi fashion packs in the glitter variation. I thought the price for Steffi's packs were fair and that the Barbie packs could have been a bit less expensive. Love your reviews :)

I love the pink dress and would like to add it to my collection.
I hope I don’t come off as harsh, but many people forget that those fashion packs are playline and that their target audience is kids, so that’s why they might look “garish”. If that’s not their taste (which is understandable from an adult collector’s perspective) they should get the Barbie Style fashionpacks instead which are more mature looking or they should look for more realistic looking doll clothes on Etsy or Vinted or somewhere else which are often great quality.
This is not geared towards you at all btw but to the doll community in general. No offense ✌️💖
Btw I love the first two Barbie fashionpacks. I love the second Barbie fashion pack so much because it reminds me of the second outfit the Barbie Travel and Style doll came with, which I had as a kid. The Steffi Love fashionpacks are amazing and I can’t believe they beat the Barbie fashionpacks 😅
The fashion packs of the Fashion Fever era from the early 2000s were also aimed for children, and the quality was superior.

@@DafSpiI feel like this raises a question about branding and the cultivation of kids' tastes. Bratz has mature look, My Scene did, and Monster High did to some extent. But Barbie is now often targeting the youngest kids with the playline dolls, while Bratz and MH are typically staged as for the older kids.
there is supposed to be a line for younger kids.but they made everything too garish, atleast mattel made some decent fashion packs not the repititive designs and uninspired donut prints. srsly barbie is now one of worst fashion doll, people are just paying for the brand now which is very overpriced for it’s quality.
I love the fashion packs Barbie❤ and fashion packs Steffi Love but too fashion packs Cloé girls ....In french fashion packs barbie 7,99€, Steffi Love,5,90€ and Cloé girls it's not expensive 1,39€ 👏
There’s nothing compared to the 1960s. Their clothes were exquisite and made beautifully with better fabric. There is no comparison.
I would like the Barbie Marimekko unikko inspired print top with the Steffi bell bottom jeans and those pink mules, the pink dress I find a bit meh...
The glitter top might look interesting with the unikko print skirt too and maybe the flat white sneakers?
but compare these to "Fashion Avenue" of the 90s and 2000s
I recently got 2 new Barbie fashion packs. One was nice soft material & cute. The other I think is for curvy, as too big for standard body. But that material was stiff & rough feeling & didn't look as good on the doll as it did on Amazon.
Oh was it the pink party dress? I have that one too and was shocked by how bad the quality was. 🥲
It's it the one with the two floral dresses from last year. I just got that pack on sale.

Pleasantly surprised at the relatively decent clothes from Barbie. Steffi Love has better options though. I taught myself to sew barbie clothes because I am so unimpressed with the fashions. It’s way more fun.
i miss when barbie has good quality fashion packs. Now just a cheap printed potato sack dress. I miss the old time when barbie was still fun to dress. I prefer buying non mattel fashion packs now, although the quality is not that great, it really impress me when they have detailed designs and separate top and pants and purse, and real buttons on jackets that barbie can't offer now unless it is a $50 fashion pack
When I say I'm wistful for the quality/style of the past in Barbie, I mean things like construction, fabric choices, layers, and number of items. As far as hideous/wild color combinations, I blame the 80s, even though Barbie got her sense back in with the Fashion Fever line, they just keep going back to that. Early Barbie was very classy, very real to life in the way she dressed, her clothes were well made out of lovely materials, decorated with designs, and you didn't get just an outfit, you got a story with all its props. Modern Mattel is out to use the least fabric, cheapest materials, quickest/cheapest manufacturing, and you're lucky to get shoes or a purse. All the heat cut edges, serged edges, and lack of seams cheapen the look. Flimsy fabrics, not carrying print/ruffles/details all the way around, and printing layers/jewelry on instead of including them make it much worse. There was a time when you could mix and match items from fashion packs and be creative, now you wear it or don't. If you buy one of the occasionally available larger fashion packs, they have crazy print/color items that don't go with anything else in the pack and that really annoys me. I haven't (won't either) purchased any of the collector line fashion packs - they do seem moderately better.
Loved this video, your insights. TBH, the Steffi packs looked better made than the Barbie, but maybe just because my expectations for Mattel have gotten so low - seeing separate pants and top was enough to impress me lol

I bought a doll to use for grief therapy. My mOm died in 2020- and I thought buying and little doll- i think it was billed as child's first doll. Well- I'm sitting here crying my eyes out. I guess I needed to cry? it reminds me of my childhood- I was a very needy clingy child to my MOm. I always felt like they were alive or an extension of me or what I was feeling. Kinda sounds weird- i thought the doll would help me grieve better. I don't know.

I have to say it; All those fashion packs are bad. The Steffie Love pants are out of style. The tops too. Barbie are awful.
