So helpful, thanks! Now I think I will get the new Venture Case. I have been making dive videos with the dive case and love it, but wish the Nadir wasn't so big. If you ever want to do a video together snorkeling or diving, let me know!
Gerry thanks for the comment - it would definitely add enough protection but two things you’d have to consider are fogging, so you may have to use the anti fog filters - once you’re outside the case will acclimatise but something to consider. The other thing is the weight of the case can cause it to move on some mounts. I would take spare thumb screws as some do up tighter than others for some reason.
Vicinity360 be interested to know what you think of it when you do use it - the water must be beautiful where you are Dan - get those swimming trunks on 😉
@@EatSleep360 I just shot a video at Blue Spring State Park and used my 360 OneX with the dive case. You can see the case used in four different scenarios; above water, swimming it under water, on a small tripod sitting at 35 feet, and on an arm coming off my dive board upside down. It did fantastic!
Great review - I have a question ... what should be used - the dive case or the venture case wen shooting near the beach or general action shots to retain the quality of the shot ?
Debashis Dey thanks for the comment - as much as possible I would use the camera without a case. If you’re going underwater properly I would use the dive case and as a splash and safety case I use the venture case. I wouldn’t use the dive case as a general safety case as you will see the bottom of the case in your shots, the app doesn’t get rid of it as it’s too big. It stitched out the case line but not the bottom.
Great review ! I have one question though - I'm planning on getting an insta360 one x( am going to NY this summer ) - would you recommend getting a venture case as well - for wandering around the city ? Knowing myself I'll most definitely scratch the lens however Im concerned about the quality drop.
TommyBoy87 thanks for the comment - I personally wouldn’t buy one as it is more of a faff using the camera and makes it bulkier and does deteriorate image quality. BUT the camera is vulnerable and does need extra care and if you feel that you are likely to damage it then you should go with your instincts and buy one. Other ways to protect your camera are to always use a small tripod, never stand your camera on a table by itself and never risk using a selfie stick attached to the tripod in case it falls over. Always place the camera back in its case and have the case around your neck. Hope this helps.
I haven’t used it but it allows you to go deeper as you say and the images won’t suffer from light refractions so the images are a lot nicer. You can’t come out to a full tiny planet type image, you have to mount it in the traditional way at a right angle on the selfie stick and then reframe forwards or backwards. This is because the base of the case will always be in shot so this is the best way to mount it.
Dmitry Khmel thanks for the comment - if it is the black nadir circle this has to be turned off in the app settings before you start shooting. To remove it from a time lapse video is possible but depends on where it is and what is surrounding it. If you upload it privately to RUclips I’m happy to have a look and advise. Thanks
DaveOMT thanks for the comment - that’s a good question. The image quality isn’t as good with the case as expected really as you’re putting a piece of plastic in front of the lens. The quality issue is worse when you have a contrasty shot or the sun is shining directly into the lens like you see in one of the biking shots. Underwater the image is slightly softer I would say. I’d be interested to see shots from the dive case.
@@EatSleep360 I guessed as much, but thanks for confirmation. I so hate to put the lens into the wind on my motorcycle for fear of a small stone shattering the lens (like they do on one's windscreen).
Oussema Dhaouadi thanks for the comment - I haven’t used it myself but from what I’ve read and seen you can’t entirely get rid of the bottom of your case in the shots but you can with the venture case. The venture case is only a splash case though whereas the dive case is properly designed to go underwater. The best way to use the dive case is mounted at a 90 degree angle facing towards what you are focusing on and then you reframe using the app and you won’t see the case.
I like the durability of the case, but I am having stitching trouble.. more than what you talked about. What do you think of these dark shadow lines on the stitching? Most obvious against a blue sky or light colors. Maybe it's catching part of the black foam ring? Not sure... waiting for a response from Insta360 but would love to hear from others. Here are 2 examples of the case vs without: imgur.com/a/0GSMsY1
Subver the venture case needs even lighting for sure so that maybe affecting the shot. Maybe experiment a bit more with different backgrounds. The shot without the case has an overexposed sky so it’s difficult to compare the two shots. Are all the shots without the case clean along the stitch line? You could try recalibrating the camera to see if this helps in any way.
Kind of hesitant on getting the case as it’s not cheap and if for some reason you get a scuff mark on the case I think it would be unusable to film with..
J Ho thanks for commenting. Yeah it is expensive and you can live without it 99% of the time. Some people say you can polish scuffs out of the plastic but I don’t know how good it would turn out.
I use the dive case, and it has above water/underwater stitch modes which work great (check out my video ruclips.net/video/2_UMtVGoLNw/видео.html ). Perhaps a future app update could add an underwater stitch mode for this case too. I didn't mind the stitch lines too much, and would love to use this rather than be constantly worried about hurting the lens!

Would you recommend the venture case for winter activities like snowboarding or skiing?

Does the old case have buttons on the front?
Not sure, I’ve only got version 2

Have you used the Dive Case? If so, is there a difference other than being able to go deeper in water?

Dmitry Khmel it may just be that you need to select stitching for venture case in the app or desktop.
What about the actual quality (resolution) of the footage-as good or worse? Thanks. Great video.
