Honestly shoutout to that player with their Lovely Ladies of Rakdos planeswalker list. They definitely didn't netdeck that crazy pile and they were ballsy enough to take it into an event
It's wild seeing chat go "Never seen this deck before" "No reason to play this deck" as though someone can't just like a theme, build a deck, and try to have fun. The nature of magic turning into just the filthiest netdecking imaginable sucks
Concur. It's okay to try to play like you're in a pro tour every second. But it's also fine to just have fun with it.

@@zaksaturday1693 I blame all this content creators. They glorifying the search for being in Mythic which absolutely gives no benefit whatsoever and plays only meta decks which in turn discourages deck crafting in new players or the seasoned ones. It turns the game into a chore and completely destroys the games intention of being fun and creative with deck building. I have never seen a single content creators that comes up with "Hey today i have a brand new brew in the house and let's give it a shot and lets have fun".
@@edmundtetch3357 Right? Back when I stopped playing in the Alara block (which was ~15 years ago.... please excuse me, Imma go turn to dust now), netdecking and 'optimizing' decks was the way to play the game. Large part of the reason why I stopped playing, because I couldn't afford to keep up.

Sometimes that’s how a Control Mirror plays out, one of the decks goes aggressive.
@@ZakanaHachihaCBC Aggro is winning through quick and persistent damage. It is effectively the opposite of the deck CGB was playing (which is a meta control deck) where had the opponent not quit, they were was as likely to have run out of cards as to have been killed by damage, let alone quickly.
@@Dragon_Fyre he was the aggressor in the match up. And that’s sometimes what will happen in a Control Mirror.
My Control Deck has an aggro package that it pivots to playing for closing out the game.
I nor OP actually called him an Esper Aggro deck. We just commented on the role he was playing in that game.

As someone who watched the whole damned thing: Use the timestamp and skip. It wasn't worth it, even at 2x speed.

The worst kind of players. Hateful. Spiteful. "Winning" by being able to waste more lifetime? That is just so tiny-minded.
After a bit I was like...this guy has to have a terrible internet connection. No one can do this intentionally.
The last control game went down to the dumb early decision to kill a triome instead of a Reef. Why would you ever kill a mana land instead of a creature land. HUGE mistake!

Honestly, aside from the opening (first 3-4 turns) where I don't think roping that much was necessary, I didn't find the game slow at all. There was a pretty high amount of hidden interaction all over the place.
I don't find draw&go that interesting anymore, I tend to prefer other stuff now, but despite that after a game with so many turning points I would feel satisfied enough to call it a day independently from the winner. I get it, part of the complaining was for entertainment purposes, but still.
Totally deserved loss against mono red, because you didn't play the lockdown for 2 turns.
I don't know why he didn't just wait for the Rage and then bolt in response instead of playing No More Lies.

Tbh that first mono red player just played really well around the control matchup, they deserved that win.
And I can't think any possibility where the lighting bolt wasn't the right play...

Two sides of the same coin. Aggro ends the game before opponents get to play, Control prevents your opponents from ever playing. They are both the result of poor game balancing that has deteriorated the quality of the game over time.
I would only consider aggro slightly more tolerable as the game at least ends quickly and you can begin another game. Control makes MTG a game of solitaire (except where both players are playing control).
They’re both horrible for the game but unfortunately they’re inevitable in an online game like Arena.
That Rasmus is one of the control players of all time, a whole bunch of certified moments right there!

I can’t beleave cob hasn’t tried orxhove control with the current sett giving us one of the best black drawspells ever as well as black having lots of good bots wipes in the curent standard ( path of peril,pest control,etc,) and orzhove having some great wincons l

Classic Mono-red Arena game. No matter what you play they always have exactly the right number of lands and burn.
So real talk...why do azorius players take the max time for everything? Even if they dont do anything? Every single one i play against does it
I’ve been seeing this more and more where control decks don’t play 4 fields. It is insane. Does it suck with two out vs mono red? Yes. But it very rarely happens. People need to play more fields

Those of you who wrote in chat that's the reason why "we" prefer bo1 instead of bo3, haven't played a single bo3 game in their life, because bo3 game have actually a time limit (30 min) for each player, so bo3 game would have ended about 15 minutes earlier than this game...
Yeah, but you'd still have to play 1, potentially 2 more games vs that opponent.... so really it's more like 60-90 minutes :D

you could have ended the first game like 10 turns earlier if you bothered to use reef when they were tapped out/out of removal. the mono red beatdown afterwards was well deserved. you woulda won if that too you didn't sit on that lockdown.
CGB, love your videos man. It's just I play Rg aggro right now and seeing how just god awfully these red mages are piloting the decks is too much for my soul. So upvote, comment, trying to help, but video to the end... if it makes you feel any better I don't blame you for how bad they are.
That really slow player, if he had Sunfalled before playing the drake, he might have won. At the bare minimum the phyrexian would have been a 4/4 and you would have had nothing, instead of sending his guys to die. He still would have been able to unlock his Emperor and had the token plus the samurai. Easy win for him, but alas, he grabbed defeat from the jaws of victory! =p

I think the only reason that person was playing so slow is because they were playing against CGB and were probably a fan. They wanted to play at their very best. It is annoying, but I don't think they deserved all the hate. They'd probably play at normal speed against most anyone else.
The only thing we as control mages hate more than monored is the bad faith slow play control mages that stain the name of the true control players!! 😢😂
17:30: No, it absolutely, objectively was not the right play. They CAN'T make slickshot bigger than 3 toughness, no matter what they try to do. You wait for them to play it out and then you lightning strike it.
Don’t worry, that Azorius control player did not give control players a bad name. That was just the average blue-white control experience. There wasn’t anything out of the ordinary that game.
