Otaru is my hometown and Yoichi is my birthplace. Thank you for introducing Otaru. Otaru is famous for the glass hall, but the music box hall is also quite popular with tourists. Unlike Tokyo, Osaka or Kyoto, it is not crowded with people. I would like everyone to take a trip to Hokkaido.
Thank you for another great video Luke. The kaisendon looks great (I love Uni, and fish roe, would have changed the salmon for tuna however). What would be great, is if you indicated in the introduction, when the video was filmed. So that when watching the video, we know about the weather, things blooming, the temperature etc. in that particular time of the year.
I too am a lover of sushi (haven't tried Uni though...yet!) That first bowl for $21 is a deal when comparing what one can get in other cities. The poke bowl I had today in Canada was 'ok'...not like your experience I'm quite, quite sure 😆😆(and it was $25 lol!). Thanks for another great food vlog!
The wasabi with that kaisendon seemed like it was the cheap/horseradish kind. Is that normal? I remember when I was in Japan it seemed even at mid to kind of expensive sushi places (like the one in this video) that they served horseradish instead of real wasabi. I only remember having real wasabi with soba dishes. To sum up: Is the horseradish/imitation wasabi ok for Japanese people when eating sushi that is going for 3000yen and up per bowl?
I am from Japan, and I would say it's normal for market eats to use Neri wasabi, instead of grated Hon wasabi. Only expensive sushi places actually use the real deal in my experience.
Ooo no rock's for your whisky... Small amount of room temp water is your best bet to release the flavour. But scotch is better than Japanese... But we are biased as we are Scottish!
Uni and Otoro are my fav....Nikka Distillery tour was really fun and generous with the free samples We also visited Yamazaki distillery between Osaka and Kyoto... No free samples but you can buy shots to sample from their wide selection
Hey bro I ain’t a RUclipsr based in Canada these days but I have a proposition for you I keep following your videos but given I’ve tread the globe and had the chance to experience all the diverse cuisines but what I can make you eat is what we eat at home in Pakistan specially given our long tradition and I promise u haven’t had something like that before you guys can live at my place for as long as you can I’ll show the modern as well as the ancient side of Lahore my city even will take you up north but the real thing is the food cooked at my home and you’d be amazed by the diversity of food and the unbelievable taste at the same time gimme a shout out if you willing
~ ⛩ Really enjoy your Channel, but especially your visits to Japan; not SOLELY because I am Japanese. 😉 Have you tried the Sapporo Or Hibiki Whiskeys? 🥃
Bought a bottle of Yoichi from a locak shop a few months ago. It was OK. I'll stick with Campelltown and Islay malts. My second bottle of Japanese Malt came last week from my brother for my 82nd. It was produced in Akashi by Eigashima Shuzo. Way over priced; glad I didn't pay for it but it is a nice whiskey. A tip for your future travels in Japan. I enjoyed the Otoru and Sapporo vids so much I'm heading there in August for a couple of weeks. Do I dare mention your name> :

Salmon poke bowl my favourite ❤❤
Mmmm
Great video - did you have to reserve for the free tour at Nikka?
Kaisendon!!!!❤ the best!!!!!
Then Nikka!!! 🥃
👌🏻
So good!
Looks so delicious. Love seafood, but i get sik when i eat it, not cool though🤣😂
I agree with Mink! I'd rather eat ice cream when it's cold. I can't stand melted ice cream lol
😂
Uni is a big yes, Ikura is way too pungent for my taste but tobiko and masago are delicious. 🤤👍
1st❤️🙂now watching
What flavour is soft serve? Is it vanilla or just milk?
Drink it neat. Ice dilutes the flavor.
👍👍👍

You haven't been to Scotland? Please come! Lots of whisky distillerys and good food in Aberdeenshire 😊
I would love to!
@@LukeMartin Hoping and praying you'll come. Let us know so we can treat you to a Black Bull cocktail!

$20 bucks for that seafood bowl with sea urchin is a good deal.
i like to travel Japan. they know the tourist doesn't speak Japanese, so they offer menu with pictures for us to ease order.
Where is Sabrine? We miss her.
Uni is delicious, but if you get served old uni, you’ll hate it! It has to be fresh.
Totally agree!
probably pass on this one
@Luke lets hope your head is on your shoulder!!! As always your food vlog is on point. Remember things will always come and go.
~ ⛩ Really enjoy your Channel, but especially your visits to Japan; not SOLELY because I am Japanese. 😉 Have you tried the Sapporo Or Hibiki Whiskeys? 🥃
Have to try more whiskeys!
I try to avoid salmon in Japan as they're mostly come from Norway not local
At least you’re not eating herrings and jellied eels. Uni is best enjoyed without rice
Why the rice it's just a filler and a carbohydrate which is not healthy in any way shape or form?
i think its expensive....its all rice and only a little of fish
What happened to the other girl ?
I enjoy watching the food tour, is that your gf?
What happened to the girlfriend from your older videos?
Lol i was wondering the same.
Yeah mi too where is the blond girl
Luke got the yellow fever lol
Think they split up. Shes doing her own videos somewhere else. Not sure if that asian girl is his new gf or not
Go younger
Radiated fish is delicious
テーブルの上の食器の置く位置が気になる。
味噌汁は右手前、丼は左手前、その他の料理は真ん中、醤油の小皿は手前、きちんと決まりがあります。
マナー無視ですね。
Yes! No...😂
luke got a new girlfriend?
No more white girl??
