    I love that you got all this free food. I would make gazpacho with the tomatoes. My family likes cabbage but not me. Dehydrating is a great idea. I know it is a lot of work prepping all this food but it will taste wonderful.

    I wanted to tell you on last video you shucked corn. Life hack-if you slice off a piece on opposite end of where the silks are coming out, then peel from that end they shuck so much easier.

    I do a similar thing with my appliances, and stagger the tasks, sometimes having several machines going at once or in rotation.
    I get a load of laundry on, then start a meal to be baked in the oven, then when the meal goes in the oven the laundry is done, so I load the dryer, put another load of laundry on, put my electronics on a charging station to recharge, and start doing dishes. Then the dishes are done and in the drying rack, and the laundry in the dryer is done so I fold laundry....etc. etc. etc.

    My grand parents had a corn field. They would sell roasted corn. They roasted the corn with the husks on. It’s a whole other type of delicious give it a try. Make at least 3 for each person. It’s easy to eat 2 at a time. The extra one you’ll want for lunch the next day.

    Such a blessing to be able to get the free produce!! Those cabbages were huge!! Those tomatoes looked so good. I have used yellow tomatoes when I've canned before when I made juice and for diced tomatoes. I just don't can the yellow by themselves. What kind of peas did you say they were? I know what you are saying about how much better the potatoes taste. It has to be because it doesn't get any of the junk put on them like the ones in the store do. I have cabbage dehydrated but I haven't used it yet. When you do use it, can you please show using it if you think about it? Thanks

    I’ve canned yellow tomatoes before; I just mix them with the reds and can as normal. It’s worked for me in salsa, juice, chili broth and ketchup. Sometimes the color will have a little yellow tint to the item when done, but still tastes great.

    We always cut X’s on the bottom of our tomatoes, Blanche and the peelings come right off. We then chop and freeze. We very seldom can them. My great great great aunt used to can slaw with cabbage. I don’t remember how it tasted. I think you’ve got a great idea with dehydrating.

    • @patsyrenew1174
      @patsyrenew1174 Год назад

      U can fit your pink eyed peas in yours jars. They’ll shrink a tiny bit. We usually have snaps with them. We would Blanche then freeze. When it’s ready to eat just boil until done with cured pork (southern procuttto). We called that country ham in Georgia.

    I've tried mixing canning red/yellow with varying results. If more red in the mix, it worked/lasted better. After experimenting I always used mixed jars first. Never tried yellow on own, but would think it would be fine if pressure canned.

    I have been freezing tomatoes. I have canned yellow mixed in with my red tomatoes and I had no problems. I specifically planted a couple of yellow tomatoes just because i like a mix of tomatoes in my sauce i also throw cherry tomatoes in to the mix i put bell peppers and onions from my garden as well. I also cook a mix of ground beef and Italian sausage I fill the quart size jar not quite 1/2 full with meat and pour sauce to fill it up and run it through the pressure canner. I also don't take the skins off i run my emersion blender through it and there is not much in the way of skin. Just out of curiousity does the cabbage dehydrate well outside with the humidity being so high? I am in Tennessee and the humdity has been like 80%. I have the same pressure canner and I love it.
