    Tammy, here's an idea on your minute rice..... If you put your cooled rice in a gallon baggie and out it in the fridge overnight.... Then take it out and dehydrate it..... You won't have to fight the stickiness of the "fresh" rice. ❤️

    Making our own food from scratch truly is the only way to make sure we aren't getting sneaky "natural flavors" that aren't natural in the least! I've only used Pinterest for getting crafting ideas. Never thought about going there for recipes......duh! Thanks for showing us how you like to do things in your kitchen.....😉

    Started growing a garden out of necessity like many after 2020 covid shut down. As result has so much produce I learned to can my produce. Then switched to growing and canning even more variety of foods due to learning why I had been so sick for so long had to go with the preservatives and additives in store bought foods, yes even on the fresh veggies and fruits which was the biggeat shock to me. I have started, like you, learning to make so many things from scratch and make so many mixes from my staples. Its very satisfying to swap the stuff we grew yp on to homemade versions that taste sonmuch better. Its best to have mixes and such done uo for that convenience that we all prefer. If we pulling out everything to make up one mix, might as well make uo several (without and wet ingredients) and have them setting on our shelves, definitely cuts us down on grabbing the chemical filled convenience stuff.

    I ❤ the sound of that ping.
    And dinner Sunday night was pot roast in a 🫙! Friday I processed a 5.5# chuck roast, and 1 of the 4 qts did not seal. Woo-hoo, it's roast for dinner tomorrow!! And lunches on Monday.
    But the other 3 jars, means pot roast in the rotation, because it's portion control.

    Hi. I was checking out to possibly buy that Amish canning book from E Bay. Could you please tell me if it has several more soup to can recipes in it. Thank you so much. I just forged today and found enough Chanterelle mushrooms to make another batch of the cream of mushroom soup you showed us in this video. I made one batch and wanted to do some more. Smaller batch than you did. Thanks again.

    I have been wanting to make dehydrated rice for minute rice. When you get ready to use it, how do you prepare it to eat? Thank you!

    • @SouthernWifeEverydayLife
      @SouthernWifeEverydayLife  Год назад

      Just pop it in the microwave with water or broth. You can add seasoning if you want. Some butter. Store bought is normally 5-6 minutes. Homemade is a little longer. I do mine for about 2 extra minutes and it’s good. Every microwave is different. So you may need to play around with it.

    Is dehydrating rice cost efficient , boiling then dehydrating using electricity versus buying minute rice?

    • @SouthernWifeEverydayLife
      @SouthernWifeEverydayLife  Год назад +1

      Not sure. A lot of stuff might not be cheaper if you add in all that, but for me it’s about making it myself. Knowing what’s in it and how it’s made. ❤️

    • @SouthernWifeEverydayLife

      It takes a minute or two extra in the microwave, but it the same as store bought. Equal parts water, rice.

    How do you make homemade cream of chicken and mushroom soups?

    • @SouthernWifeEverydayLife
      @SouthernWifeEverydayLife  7 месяцев назад +1

      If you are using chicken broth it is “chicken flavored” technically, but if you want chicken pieces I’d just add some small pieces. It would process the same time. Pressure can: 75 minutes half pints/ pints. 90 minutes for quarts.

    • @SouthernWifeEverydayLife
      @SouthernWifeEverydayLife  Год назад +2

      Yes, but buying rice in bulk is really cheap. So I’m not spending the extra money to buy the minute rice because I can make it myself.
