I have been a tree man since 1987, certified arborist since 1993 and let me tell you….. I love your character, your spirit, your leadership and your choice of tools to accomplish the mission.
I used to think battery saws were kinda dumb, other than for some small trim jobs. Then I saw you guys using them and realized that the technology has come a long way and wanted one. Almost bought one a couple months back until the guy gave me a quote. Still want one, but couldn't justify the price for what I'll be using it for.
Apart from actually looking at the fuel pickup in the tank , one thing to try is fill the tank 100% and use again , that should eliminate any possibility of sucking air from within the tank , at least for a period of run time .
Well I'm glad you guy's can't have a miserable day on purpose either !!! Life is too short, enjoy every minute possible !!! Perfect shot on the Locus tree and Perfect shot on the tip hitting the stump Damien... couldn't have hit it any more center 👍👊 Another Great video, Thank you ❤❤
That guy probably never used a cordless drill or nailgun either. Some people like to work harder, not smarter. Hey there's a time for electric tools & a timebfor fuelled tools, to each their own. Nice video guys
Thank you for the sad video. 🙂 Poor old house now surrounded by newer HOA buildings. Reminds me of my friends house, sold the farm but kept the house and 10 acres. The HOA tried to tell them what to do etc. Except they where exempt from the HOA per the farm sale covenant. Their family / grand children even had free access to the lake and their swimming pool, HOA park forever. 🙂
Something to consider i chased the same problem on 661. On 2 saws. Replaced everything. Turned out it was the flywheel..magnets was the problem. The solinoid needs a specific amount of voltage to work. Heat and impact can mess up the magnets
Hi August, the problem with your saw depends on the hose that enters the tank to suck petrol which has stiffened and does not fall to the bottom when you turn the saw and it no longer sucks because it remains at the top, change that small piece of hose and you will see that the problem is solved, I also had the same annoying problem and I solved it like this.
August I'm 78 years old. Have been cutting trees for about 40 years. I DON'T KNOW JACK S = = = compared to you and a bunch of other guy's on youtube. Just wanted to let you know that and that I enjoy watching all of you guy's and your video's. Thanks for sharing them. Jim
Maybe the 500i is a little depressed? Guy starting with his Resume 😂 I’ll have to remember that! Awesome video....... it sounded lean in the high revs 🤔 Once I read online the 500i has a problem with the seal in the air filter Egans has a small rubber washer that goes inside the cover opening lever thingo
Hi August another Awesome video mate ,love it 🙌🙌, I don’t do tree work but a little recreational tree climbing , I absolutely love watching your videos they are all really good and so well put together 👍👍 keep up the good work bud , massive big up to you and all the crew , loads of love from Southampton U.K👊🏻👊🏻
lol...I wasn't watching the first few seconds of the video but when I heard you start the first thing that came to mind was Pooh's depressed little buddy...and when I looked up...yup...there he was. (love it!) so as an owner of an MS170 AND MS250...I am an expert in tree felling...lol...I think Damian was being l little harsh on you... (please note that with my expert opinion...and a couple bucks...you can afford a coffee....maybe.) ;-) Love the satire...and seriously high quality videos. Cheers from snowy New Brunswick, Canada (eh)
I had to replace a mirror on my 2000 Silverado around 2003 and it cost $100. I guess that wasn't as bad as I thought it was at the time! There was a huge owl in the road (at night eating some road kill) an it flew away only to circle around back into my line of travel.
Your impersonation of the "copyrighted name of a donkey cartoon character that shall not be named" is spot on. sometimes it does help to just go all in and embrace the suck... for a moment or two. Helps you appreciate the rest that goes well and right! Awesome job, awesome recovery at the end to find the fun in your work - even though that was NO the point of the video, oh well.... you tried (grin). I've watched a couple (hundred?) of your vids and really enjoy your enjoyment of your work and that of your crew. Thanks!
I had my 500i blow up a month after I bought it. They said it was something wrong with the computer tune. They fixed it up and it runs good now. Super complex saws.
How is fuel filter pickup thingy? Enough flow at idle, but not enough at wot! Are you using regular gasoline? Ethanol clogs stuff up pretty good. I always use super and have no problems due to less ethanol content.
Best tree videos on You tube and I watch a lot of them . Always top notch work .. Negative comments based on a video and not being there is as dumb as bidding a job based on a photo.
Nice grainery tree, too bad the stump couldn't be left for whatever woodpecker family stashed all those acorns. The truck convo at the start with the sad donkey edited in was very well done.
folks are saying those 500i after they get alot of hours on them, the fuel injector seals start wearing out. they had a case of fuel just pours out the exhaust from sitting with a full tank. but almost feels like its sucking air in the gas tank when teh hose flops 1 direc
One of my ol bosses always said "Ask and ye shall recieve!" ... I'm impressed with how you kept your cool with that saw... I dread to think what Past August would have done with that saw, not sure if it would have been a bonfire starter, or a wheel chock
Came into work this morning and found out someone had broken into our bucket truck the night before and stole my monkey beaver 2.0… takes the wind right out of your sails. You’re an inspiration August keep on keeping on.
Ughhh, finding you've been robbed is a devastating blow mentally as well as the loss of equipment. It's the being violated part that burns me up. Sorry to hear of your woes.
Hello August, sorry I know I'm a little late to the party. I couldn't find any comment regarding the "stuck ON saw" with the bad switch. You can always turn it off by engaging the choke... ;) Thanks a lot for the videos. Cheers
My brand new 500i that I got had it for 2 days and it did the same exact thing. It was running till it kept bogging down and then it finally siezed up completely.
That there is some dead wood. It started to disintegrate when it hit the ground. That saw is losing fuel distribution when you turn it upside down. In tank fuel filter picking up air, possibly carb problem - broken or dislodged metering lever spring closing needle and shutting off fuel supply when turning upside down. Shouldn't be a catastrophic problem, just another one of those annoyances that happen with machines.
Lightning rod locust with a steel cable in it . Home owner could be a descendent of Ben Franklin.⚡️I would trade that 500👁️ for (3) ms460’s. Nice drop. Glad you can have some fun at work. Laughter is the best cure for a tough day. 👍

Awesomeness, the change in attitude is hilarious. Just because I know how facetious yall are being. As a person who has been watching August fall trees for many year (via youtube). I agree with Damien, " it could have been better". Haha. Yall stay safe homies.
Crispy critter!!! I had the same happen to a mirror on my 2003 BMW 330 sedan. Just broke the front facing plastic cover. $80 shipped, $40 to paint to match. And I thought THAT was kinda ridiculous... but the mirror and all the functionality was intact so I'm sure it would've been closer to your $damage had that been smashed.
If people would spend as much time reviewing their own lives as they do reviewing other peoples lives, they might find that their OWN LIVES ARE, AT BEST, QUESTIONABLE. Now that was a quick buck -up, that tree exploded on impact!👍👍
What a gloomy day to go to work with a broken mirror and a saw that won't run, oh no. Now I have to go to the shop, there's probably a 500i on my bench, oh the horror. Thanks for posting😓. And for the antithesis of such thoughts... Philippians 4:8
August will you please make a bag for holding all your climbing gear? Some kinda big bag that holds my spikes and hardness and lanyard and stuff. Ide buy that in a heart beat
Hi again August i use both fuel and battery saws both work fine if so.e people dont like battery they arnt doing your line of work just ignore them mate ,cheers .
We should do a thing where we name the electric saw, one guy suggested misery, my vote is pain, because pain for the tree is temporary, decomposition is eternal

Irony 😆
There has to be one that disproves the rule.
...and today, there's a couple squirrels hanging around wondering, "Where in the heck did all of our acorns go?!?!"
It will be woodpeckers wondering where the acorns went
Either way, they were just here yesterday...
It’s amazing to find out how many Americans don’t believe in liberty or freedom. Do you, August. You were made for this.
Another quality video by August and Damien. Never grow tired of watching an Arbor-Artist at work. Thank you.
"This limb is ""MOSTLY Dead"" Great Princess Bride quote 🤣😂🤣

Way too over priced! Most tree fellas can’t justify purchasing one.💪
That's a common symptom from an air leak at the crank seal.
Apart from actually looking at the fuel pickup in the tank , one thing to try is fill the tank 100% and use again , that should eliminate any possibility of sucking air from within the tank , at least for a period of run time .
I like the 2x4’s protecting the anchor tree! I’ll have to try that next time. Great work!

If you really want to trigger the masses just get an electric chainsaw with 200 feet of extension cords OR have a backpack generator.
Thanx i find ya vids make me better. Have done trees 25 years but lot to learn. And ya vids do. Cheers

I was thinking maybe bad fuel ?
I'm thinking you need to name that electric saw after the troll. Call it "Misery"

Not sending a resume, but I'm sure I'd love working for you. You're a real one, August.
See if you had a Big electric saw you wouldnt have to worry about a bad fuel pick-up lol

I retired after 26yrs of treework what bugs me about battery saw the most is I never bought one for myself. Rock on guys!
March 25 in Utah and I get rained out too. I guess I'll make some firewood and/or baklava.....

Probably just needs some 30 weight ball bearings and a fritzer valve
Before you do dat ya should check the torque on the muffler bearing seal.
Or possibly the Tabulater valve ? 🤣
I have 20 years experience felling trees. Haha not really, just messing with ya.
Great videos and great advice.
I had my 500i blow up a month after I bought it. They said it was something wrong with the computer tune. They fixed it up and it runs good now. Super complex saws.
It’s fuel injected. August has a fuel pickup issue. Hopefully he’ll let us know when it gets resolved.💪
How is fuel filter pickup thingy? Enough flow at idle, but not enough at wot! Are you using regular gasoline? Ethanol clogs stuff up pretty good. I always use super and have no problems due to less ethanol content.
Ethanol-free gas for all my 2 strokers; they run fine.
Great vid August and Damian, love the sound track too!
Eeyore's tree service.😂

As much as you tried to be "Meh" still turned out to be one of my favorite videos. Favorite part was "You drilled it" into the slow-mo outro 20:23

I must say that God's love and grace show in every cideo that you have made. Thank you, August, and your team. Peace, from Wisconsin!
Thanks August! Have you tried doing a reset with the M-tronic on the 500i?
Yes I have
Question 1, is it called a carrot bend or a Carrick bend?
Question 2, are you oposed to connecting two ropes with two bowlines?
you got a recommendation for a tree work knot book?

Anytime you get your personal space violated is depressing. Thugs broke into my house while my family was home once. Still erks me to this day. 💪
That tree shattered like glass! 😊

I like "mere mirror"
Eeyore in the beginning was hilarious!
Love how it dismantled itself on impact
Praying for you guys the work you do is so sketchy sometimes God bless you
Wow that thing blew apart!! Crispy!!!

The 500I doesn't have a carb, it's fuel injected 😊
That’s a huge black locust. Around here they grow to about 16” diameter and then just snap off while still healthy.
So sad. lol
That was dialed. Loved the dragon fly

Sounds like the fuel pickup is not flopping over cuz of a hardened fuel line or too much line inside the tank.
