Yep being a tree climber you have to be comfortable with being inches from death on the regular… as long as you know it’s coming ahead of time you can make sure you just have a front row seat; it’s the ones that surprise you that get you
Unfortunately, the new generation of Climbers does not seem share that sentiment and increasingly support putting regulations on the way that I’m allowed to do my job and seem to get on their knees and praise organizations like OSHA that want to profit off of what they call safety. in my opinion, “safety” is an abstract concept that cannot be definitively defined. Personally, I tend to believe in competence and integrity.
Nope! I'm not doing that. 😂 That's a couple levels above my skill set. I appreciate the creativity. Makes my brain gears spin 🤔. Makes me want to be more creative.
The thing’s I like most about being in the tree. The view is always different. The feeling of calm you get from taking your time and the thought process of cutting and moving. The focus is the tree and nothing else! And safety of course!!
I'm so grateful to you August, for sharing your years of experience and skill with us so freely and openly. I am a better tree man because of you. Thank you. p.s. your "chamfered stump" signature is a big hit in Indiana. My customers love that little touch, and I always give credit where credit is due.
That top cut was pretty spectacular, and anyone who hasn’t done it would be very surprised at how difficult it is to hold a running saw at arms length and cut in the right spot. You guys know, and professional cutters know this simple appearing act requires extreme strength and precision. Another great example of professionalism both cutting and editing 😊
@@TrapperScottyAlaskan kind of off-topic but I know August personally I don’t think he knows who I am commenting but he’s genuinely a good person and a person that I’m proud to call a role model. God has placed some cool people in my path.
He is good to go. Jesus made it simple. People don’t want to accept that and make it complicated, like a works based salvation. I could not do what I do everyday without Jesus. It frightens me to think of what would have happened before I got saved. The mind blowing thing is that God knew before everything was created that I would make the choice of salvation. Praise God!
August, your concentration and sizing-up your cuts is amazing. I watched so many of your video's and this one at 7:03 into was 1/2 scary. Cutting that one tree near you and having it hammer back to you missed your fingers literally by inches as your hand was on top of your own anchor/rigged tree...that was close as hell and you knew it would be close too. Such a pro!
Dang... that was violent !!! But it was cool 😁 Damien you Ox 😄 I would like to learn that knot, couldn't see it good enough to tell what you were doing. Thank you August ❤
Holy shit, dude! You're so zen, that I legitimately am starting to worry. Though, you totally know your stuff, and I'm about your age and the wisdom comes, for sure. Best of luck , always. ✨👏✨
Have had my morbark 12r gas. for 7 years now change oil, tire, new had to even tighten belt. been a great machine. need a bigger one but hard to get something else when its so realiable and paid for.
Damien, I truly believe we would have been great friends if I was out in your neck of the woods. August that was one scary ride you took. Please be safe and don't do anything unsafe for viewer clicks. Best regards from South Jersey not to be confused with the hell hole of North Jersey USA
Hi August, I really appreciate you and the crew showing what you do for a living. You are all clearly professionals at what you do. I do have to take exception to making climbing harnesses using american flag material though. I mean no disrepect, but if you read the flag code it specifically states that the flag should not be made into clothing of any kind. Regards
Do the light bars help on the top handles? Never thought it make much of a difference but please tell me they're great so I can stop abusing my echo(2511t = 5lbs) doing work the 201t should do
Arborist math problem: If I cut this here, and this there, how will it try to kill me?
Best comment ever☝️
I’d crap my pants seeing a log move towards me at that speed with a chance to pancake me
Great title. Holding the end of your rigging line from the top of the tree adds a whole new level of complexity.
It’s the new thing in 2024. Not finding quality help is the norm. On the upside, we’re saving money on labor expenses.

No doubt! August is way ahead of the curve. Even has time to clip his saw in. Not something I’ll be attempting anytime soon
That old American flag saddle is awesome!!! Big fan of that one
that's my saddle

By far the coolest vid youve made. When trees smashed EPIC DUDE
Love the hand & body placement on that top. Awesome work guys.
The good Lord is definitely watching over you! SUCCESS 🙌
Wow, wild swaying, cutting, logs flying, this had it all 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
I see why you wore that Jesus shirt the day you cut those tall spindly trees. What a ride that must be to swing around that much so far up!

Hey August, great job! Nice rigging setup! That's quite a ride-carefully placed body parts barely out of the path of destruction... Awesome👍

I could feel that violent collision all the way over by my house in Wisconsin! Love that catapult too!
That was a fast holster in on your saw and thankfully great hand placement on the sway back. Pretty wild footage.
Love your shirt my friend

Always the best. Your TBM fans learn more every vid. Thanks!!
Dang... that was violent !!! But it was cool 😁 Damien you Ox 😄 I would like to learn that knot, couldn't see it good enough to tell what you were doing. Thank you August ❤
The knot he was making is called an Alpine Butterfly knot. It's a great knot for using midline for setting up a quick 2:1 or 3:1 ratio rigging setup
Similar to an Alpine butterfly, but not an Alpine butterfly, I think the Alpine butterfly is probably a better not though.
@AugustHunicke Always good to know any other options, but if the Alpine butterfly is as good or better I'll just keep using that 😉
@@ThatTreeGuy2 Thank you for the reply 👍👊

Enjoyed the video. Nice falling. Wicked slam on the top drop. Exciting.

Impressive opening scene 👏 👌 👍
Trusting the wood, great job.
Good thing you didn't have your hand or fingers over the top on that side of contact when those came together! Glad no problems.
That was a very cool ride 🤣👊👊👊
great shirt, it handled the job well!
loved seeing the boyishness come out to play.
Holy Crayolas! That opening scene was wild! 😮

Unfortunately I know where my fingers would have ended up. Between the smashing violence of the logs. Planning reduces injury.
