As always August I appreciate the running commentary while you work. Pointing obvious and not so obvious stuff that can be a real help while swinging around doing tree work. Thanks for sharing and keep yourselves safe! 😃👍❤🌲
There really are no words on how smart and safe and talented August is. Once you hit play on his videos you're not going to stop it till it's done. Very mesmerizing stuff to watch. Keep up the good work. You certainly entertain us!
What you where talking about at 18 minutes into the video: “I was about to hard rig them down, but I just wanted to be a squirrel today” is what makes people great, you don’t have just one solution to a problem, you have more and you choose what suits best to you, the situation and the time that day. Great stuff!!
Love that the fire is being fed while you work. Chicken’s aside the knowledge is always appreciated. 😂 That tree has like no bark. Midwestern guy here.

Newish climber here, thanks to you... tube. Mostly you though. Just did a job similar to this out in your area and I thought real hard about calling ol August Hunicke to hold my hand while I did did it. Wife ran the riggin, kids did the clean up. Very exciting. Im alive and nothing broke! Thanks for all the knowledge, and i guess for the entertainment too. Inspirational!! hahaha. Really though it is.
Great job as usual, August. For those concerned about one handing the saw. Maintaining balance is safer than falling off the stem with two hands on the saw. I would prefer to cut up 90% with two hands on the power saw, hang it up, and finish with the hand saw. The situation requires skill, balance, and precision any way you go about it. It's good to see Joe again. I haven't seen him in recent videos. The phone pouch looks good.
I like that video edit you did where you were cutting off tons of pieces, and you smooshed it all into like 10 seconds. That was cool. Good transition.
As you and reg have been my primary teachers for 8 years and I make a professional living on my own in NC doing specialty arborist work...yes. Everyone is entitled to be stupid if they wish. Haha Much love.
Madrones always make me wish I had sharpened my spurs. I must watch too many of your videos because my 4yo always says "well thst didnt work!". Good laugh, now i know where he got it.

Really great video !!! Super nice being able to burn the brush while you work 👍 the phone pouch looks great !! Was just thinking, maybe keep the members only thing going and do training video's. You're filming anyway, just add some more commentary and way less editing, showing a lot more of each step and what hardware is used and so on like when you were taking flying lessons and realized you should dumb it down for new people ? I would pay for that !!!! Thank you very much for another one August ❤

Sooo when I started this video I thought….too slick ropes will slide right down then you mentioned it. I would make a squeeze with a prusik but I’m not as familiar with gaffs as you.
Yeah that would work great with prusik cord or even clipping a carabiner around your lanyard from side to side that would work perfect too so you wouldn't slide down as far
G'day, reminds me of Eucalyptus we have here in Australia, the point of if you gaff out your going for a long slide down.. Especially on dead Eucs, like spiking into concrete.
1:01 I might be guilty of that as well, I’ve climbed a tree that had 2 big heavy branches over a roof so I tied a rope a little past half way on those branches and had someone hold it and lower while I was up just 2 meters standing there without any safety sh1t 😅 I am saving up for some basic arborist kit because I am planning to go for my certification this year
Just curious August. Why not SRS up that slippery madrone with a spur acsender? I have a bolt on Kiwi spur acsender on my Distel Spurs and love it. It looked like that madrone had some great unions to shoot a line into to set your climb line for SRS. Or is SRS just not your thing? I understand if it is not your thing.

The tree is a madrone. Same family as manzanita, toyon. They have bark but it peels off. Crazy smooth. Good firewood though.
Also from the Midwest-I had never heard of the Madrone before watching August. I like the leaf structure. Looks like something you’d see in a jungle.
I'm from Iowa, kinda glad we don't have those here. I don't have ta worry about sliding down one 😅 and we've got plenty of good firewood !!

Why not wrap your flip line around the tree a full wrap that’ll be like a friction savor type??
Yeah, I was thinking that too, or throw the lanyard the opposite way to get about a 270 degree wrap.
Or be deliberate and climb 🤷🏼♂️
