Love what you do man, as a ground guy you cannot get a much better crew than the ones you worked with In this video, have to send a prayer to the man upstairs before every single job to make sure my dad is safe
This was a good video……… for those who watched , right to the end…….. ‘the very FIRST thing my darling mother used to do when we came in from a big shopping expedition (no cars for us….just the basket on the bottom of the baby’s pram and our own carrying power)……. Was to take her coat off, unhook her Bra and say, “Thank God for that”. Then it was shoes off and while/if the baby was asleep a glass of Sherry for each of us’. Yes, that was her quick release and wind down. That brought back VERY fond memories to me, my son is 49 now and I’m 77. Thanks young man Jacob, guess you never thought the little end of your tree cutting today would have stirred up these lovely memories for an old lady in Belfast NI. …… who knew???
I helped my dad take down a tree once. Nowhere near as tall, and we used ziplining to take down the branches while he was tied into the tree. Its reallt fascinating to watch knowing how much effort and planning and practice goes into taking down trees and maintaining safety. Wonderful to watch.
I don't know who that guy is Jake the older gentleman but man what an awesome man would love to work with him and you definitely but wow what a blessing we pray everyday to

Wow! That’s two tall trees. Must be a great view. I presume you pause each time at the top ti look around…Thank you for posting. Love watching your work. Scary and exhilarating at the same time.
I am 42 years old and have done tree removal since I was a kid "family business" and everyday my dad prayed before we started our day, sometimes the customers would join us and sometimes they would stand back not sure what to think but never had a complaint about it, I would say 99% liked it. Keep up the good work both in the tree industry and in the ministry of Jesus!
Fun fact: squirrels can survive a fall, they can't be killed by terminal velocity. Was sitting on my deck watching videos last year, umbrella up, and a squirrel fell out of the oak above me. Landed 3 feet away from my foot.....acorns flew out of his mouth(scared the crap out of me!!!!). He didn't move for about 30 seconds and then got up and walked away. Even the babies can fall out of the nest and the mom will come and pick them up. Love the video! Have a great weekend!!
I'm not Christian but I gave the video a like right away because of your confidence praying in front of the world. It's honorable and worth being proud of.
Same here, not religious at all. But something to be said for the praying. Its stop, pause, think safety. As an atheist I welcome that too. Kudos to them too, for not being shy about there Christianity.
We had a 50 plus year old fir tree removed last year. Took a crane to handle the huge sections of the trunk. The logs were big enough to mill dimension lumber. Firs grow like weeds here in western Oregon!
Yeah no, douglas Firs are not weeds. Old firs provide shade and cool the air and keep it from looking like L.A. we need to save them not cut them down for convenience.
Great to see that the ground crew wanted a safety check first though it should have been done before you started to climb the tree love your vlogs all the best from Tasmania Australia 🇦🇺
I went from watching coding and programming videos to arborist videos. Haha! This was great, man! I used to clear trees from right of ways, but you're on a whole different level! I found it therapeutic watching the video. Keep up the good work!
I started working on my dad’s tree crew when I was 13 back in the mid 80’s and absolutely loved the job, he was an iron worker so heights didn’t bother him. We went on to do mostly high risk insurance jobs out of houses and wouldn’t trade that experience for the world, I know that the core crew were some of the toughest workers and men I’ve ever worked with. He climbed till he was in his early 50’s and passed it off but damn that man knew what he was doing with tree work, you did an amazing job here brother and definitely know what you’re doing.
@23:20 good call. If there is a doubt, then there is no doubt. Treat those choices like your life is on the line, cause it is. Don't ever take a shortcut. Good job man. Keep staying safe.

Love your content and insights. Your high level of focus on safety is appropriated. There is one thing I noticed and thought I’d mention. As in this video, when clipping you life line to the tree, you carabiner is side loaded. For your sake, I’d like to see a biner with a rated gate: such as DMM AmericanO. I just sent you $40.00 via PP so you can buy one of your choosing. Stay safe…
Hey Jake, a couple of things. First the famous last words of some climbers were "I don't normally tie in twice when..." You know anything can happen at any time. i.e. @20:52. You also know that a chainsaw can cut through a steel core flipline in a second. It doesn't take anything to throw your climb line around a couple of branches above you. A second thing is when zipping those dougs don't do an undercut. Cutmore into the collar, but not all the way off, and allow the branch to peel to hang down and settle before cutting it all the way off. That will take some energy out of the zip and you won't have the branch moving side to side on the way down. Avoiding stuff like eves and gutters.
You must be from the UK. Reality proves it has its place. The peeling method does work. If you had actually done Douglas firs you are either cutting to much before they peel or you're taking to big of a branch in which case you should use a controlled speed line.@@edwardallen2696
I don't these days, but my younger days I was a pole climber, stay on the ground now. Highest I've ever been was on a tower about 70 feet, pucker factor was high that day, these guys take that to a whole new level! I absolutely know I don't have the balls for this!
