oh yeah As a Manga reader i knew Once we got to Shibuya that's when the tonal shift happens changing it from your standard Shounen into something that could be considered a masterpiece along the reigns of HxH. When Gloves are off making it the king of the big 3 of this generation.
@@shironasama0445 true because the first season is like learning how to walk and starting from premature death arc its like a 7ft 5 star nba draft pick pushing you down a flight of stairs when ur 5 years old...
Recently rewatched AoT in its entirety. Genuinely even better on the 2nd watch. Wholeheartedly agree with Gigguk on it representing anime as a whole. Even got my sister who doesnt watch anime into it.
Yeah I agree, I just wanna find someone to watch it with before I rewatch it in it's interity. Like someone who has never watched it before so I can see their reaction live :d
AOT is so good. I like anime but some of the classic tropes in the media get annoying and that's why I loved AOT. The world building, the characters , the twist and turns. The last part of the story seemed rushed but overall, the ending was good not bad like people made it out to be.
My girlfriend who hasn’t watched any anime since her teen years watched AOT with me and loved it. It was a catch-up watch for me for the finale this year but for her was a first time. She preferred the pre war stuff but loved the series.
@@devilagentgaming7223 That's true but for me in particular AoT only became my favorite piece of media after S4 because I'd been watching AoT for many years and only now was able to understand what was the theme and was blown away by how everything I had been watching up to that point made so much more sense now
@@HimDuncan obviously it’s better than 2003 , but with 2003 you do get a lot perspective and fleshed out content of the manga before it diverges into its own thing
My sole complaint about A Silent Voice is that they had to cut so much of the manga out to make it a movie. And even then, they still did a hell of a job. Seriously, though, read the manga if you can. It is absolutely worth it and there is so much more to it!
This is probably in part me looking at the movie through rose tinted glasses caus it's one of the first anime movies I saw and I only read the manga recently, but honestly I feel like the stuff that wasn't adapted in the movie really didn't add that much for the story, and I prefer the movie a bit caus I think it makes for better pacing. Like the whole making a movie part of the story was fine but I don't feel like I really missed much by not experiencing it the first time around. Either way is great though. For whoever else sees this who haven't seen or read it yet, JUST DO IT, go whatever way you prefer but DO IT.
@@bidulus1 I think a lot of the movie making parts were not missed but the character drama that surrounds it. Even characters like Ueno and Mashiba became flatter because some of the scenes we missed. (especially Mashiba).
@@bidulus1 oh, don't get me wrong, it's literally my favorite movie. But I adore that there was a chapter from Shouko's perspective and the story seems a lot more fleshed out in the manga.
I was disappointed that they didn't manage to capture the scene where Ishida is trying to "fix" everything before he end himself. The impact of his mum finding out what he is doing and burn all the earnings he gave his mum to "pay off his debt" so that he can't end it and have to continue living is somewhat lessen because of that.
Psycho pass season one will forever be something I consider a masterpiece (and the story should’ve just ended there.) it has a fantastic philosophy, plot, setting, animation, characters who were all interesting, and quite possibly the best antagonist/snti-hero in anime I’ve ever seen (Johan from monster was great antag too) AND LETS NOT FORGET THE SOUNDTRACK!
SCREAM THAT SHIT TO THE HEAVENS! You don't understand how much I crave for people to watch Psycho-Pass. It's so underrated. We're best friends now. Seriously though, season 1 was basically a 10/10. The music throughout the series is God tier, the Namae No Nai Kaibutsu ending for season one is still my favorite ED track of all time. Season 2 was okay and I fucking loved everything else. I love Kei and Arata, Shinya Kogami is a fucking legend and I can't wait for Providence on Blu-ray!
I actually dropped psycho pass twice and only really get into it in the third time. Maybe because I was too young to understand or appreciate the show in the beginning but later I am so glad that I watched it cuz it is really amazing! I kinda want more tho, like they taking down the system but I haven't watch the latest movie so couldnt judge much
Did you watch the succeeding seasons + movies too? If you get past the 2nd season (which is the worst season of all time), you'll experience some good sht too. Although it will never repeat what s1 did but still, the succeeding seasons except s2 are masterpieces nonetheless.
To me, dr stone is my comfort anime for whenever im sick or feeling down. Its just watching people go through millions of years of development in a few months thats just so satisfying to me
I agree with attack on titan. It may be already one of the most popular anime but anime is still relatively niche in comparison to shows like GOT and Breaking Bad, if there's any one anime that deserves to stand up there with those massively mainstream masterpieces its AOT
14:52 the fact that this is what u remember from parasyte makes me truly sad parasyte is the most underratted anime like ever the message it has in the show and ending is amazing i have had to re-watch it 7 times by this point maybe more it shows that when u finally make it to where u want to be in life but then the story is already over
in regards to code geass, it was revolutionary, as it birthed a whole new genre and protagonist, I'm of course talking about desk-kun and the whole edging scene.
I need to watch this one again. I watched it so long ago that I don't even catch most of the references. edited later to add: I should not have looked up "desk-kun". Silly me.
14:35 i'm a parasyte collector so i'll try my best not to be bias, the manga and anime are both filled with author's lines in between making you think about topics that you're actually met with in real life. that's really the reason why the actual fanbase is small but incredibly loyal. doesn't matter if the lines are thrown at you through migi, shinichi or just other characters. it almost feels like a philosophy book put into a story, thus why me and others love it so much.
The only complaint was about Dr. Stone. I think Dr. Stone just gets better and better and is way more unique than a lot of other shonen with how it approaches fighting and exploration, and the mystery aspect from the later seasons makes it super interesting and I love Senku as a character, one of the most exciting characters I've seen in manga and anime.
Nope. It lost me after introducing the antagonist with similar freakish nature as Dr. Stone himself. I didnt see the similarities until Gigguk pointed at it, but Dr. Stone definitely falls into the same category as Shokugeki no Soma. It's basically a fun animated power point presentation of cool stuff (science/historical inventions etc. & international cuisine/variations of them respectively), but from the perspective of storytelling and character design, they feel lackluster.
Yeah Like Dr. Stone gets better and better imo like if u gonna do it like that wtf is promised neverland doing in deserved that shit is hot garbage like I’m so malding about how they just decided not tot followe manga
AOT is easily up there imo. I was the one anime guy of our friend group (now proudly a weeb) and AOT got my friends into anime. My friends/ roommates and I just got back from lunch and was looking for a quick show to pass the time before we go study/ to a birthday party later that day. We literally sat there and watched like at least 10 episodes. Then, when we went to the party, we all stood in a corner talking about AOT the whole time. We then left the party early to go watch more AOT. Easily my proudest moment I personally think A Silent Voice and Your Name is up there too. Those three are anime's I'd recommend for new people depending on their taste. Or Bocchi the Rock. I think Bocchi is the show that proves why animation is a great medium
Not liking for the Attack on Titan stuff, but it's a cool story you have. The mangaka is kinda sus to me, so I haven't engaged with it. You get a like because Bocchi is the truth!
@@Amunny he's stated that the premise for the series came to him after an encounter with a tall, loud foreigner at a bar, so there's good reason to suspect he's xenophobic. The parallels to the segregation of undesireables into ghettos in the show uncomfortably mirrors how the Jewish were treated in the early Holocaust, and the portrayal of the group as hideous giant engorged naked cannibals isn't helping matters. Also, the series seems to mirror Japanese far-right sentiments and glorifies early 20th-century Germany. Idk it all feels really off to me and I don't wanna engage with the series. Same reason I avoid Darling in the Franxx; the vibes are all wrong. I could watch it to form a concrete opinion on it, but knowing I find it distasteful, I'd rather spend my time watching something that I know I'll enjoy instead.
Re:Zero is severely underrated, yes it is popular but not popular because it's top tier writing with tons of subtext and details which 99% of viewers missed out. Show is so good at it's own people not even tried to look amazing details foreshadowing depth.

@@dorianpompa8409 I don't think it's longer Re:Zero has 650 chapters but One Piece still has 1100 chapters. Yes Re:Zero chapters take longer to read but because it's a novel and not manga. Parasyte was done dirty. Genuinely the only anime other than Neon Genesis Evangelion that makes me reflect on the world at a philosophical level. The thematic work in Parasyte is so good and so are the character arcs and story progression.
And one of those instances where "the manga was better" goes well beyond the meme, since the manga doesn't really suffer from the "Obnoxious Murano" effect.
I feel Garnt has this habit of falling back on the one joke he's ever made about a show whenever he hasn't watched or remembers enough of it to form an opinion on it. He sees something like Parasyte, flashes back to a one sentence joke from a video he made a decade ago and just goes "Dubstep, am I right boys?".
Let me explain Norgami's popularity.. starters.. the openers are BANGERS. Also at least to me, it felt like a season 2 of Soul Eater. Was more like it then Soul Eater Not. Not sure if other feels that way, but overall it's just a cool power system and character designs. Similar to Bleach... Story and shit were secondary to just cool character designs that people enjoy cosplaying.
Personally I quite enjoyed Noragami's story (the anime), it felt different enough from most action Shonens and it had way more emotional conflict than I had expected for the genre. His personal goals are completely separate from his fighting powers, so the parts with the highest stakes are not solved by who can hit harder.
Yato is one of the best characters ever, that is why its so popular, + it is visually pleasing and the first season with the Yukki plot is quite dramatic and if you get invested in the characters it sticks with you since it is so emotionally charged

I have never seen another sci-fi pistol that is more badass than the goddamn Dominator in Psycho Pass. It is one of the first anime I have watched when I was a kid, and it still remains as one of my favorites.
Thank god you put steins gate up there. I think steins gate is one of those you have to give a watch, along side things like death note or FMA even if it's not your cup of tea. Psych Trillers in Anime usually know how to hit it. And just watch FMA. I got an old friend INTO anime besides dragonball because of Konosuba. So deserved. But a great anime that is a bit outside of view a horror I recommend to people is Higurashi(when they cry) but as I said I like the psychological anime.
@LabMember_009 Have you considered giving the og Steins; Gate visual novels a shot? They got translated into the anime medium pretty well, but nothing beats the source material
steins gate is usually very applauded, I think the anime subreddit recently rated it the best scifi anime or something, I think they do some yearly voting or something idr exactly. but am I the only one who thinks death note is insanely over rated? the premise is genuinely 11/10 but bleh. most of the second half is so ass. I watched it for the first time like 3 years ago, and it wasnt BAD, but people act like it's a must-watch amazing 10/10 show and I just can't deal with it
Why do people seem to ignore Steins Gate 0? Like I watched both that and the OG series and seriously enjoyed all of it. The second last episode of Steins Gate showed Okabe getting a video message from an alternate timeline version of himself, and when you’re watching you’re just like “wtf was that?”. And when you watch Steins Gate 0, you get to see that Okabe’s story. He couldn’t save Kurisu no matter what he did. And the world completely fell into ruin because of her death. ZerOkabe knows he’ll never see Kurisu again, but what he CAN do, is save another timeline. Do people not understand that? In order for OG Okabe to succeed and get Kurisu back and get the original series ending, ZerOkabe had to give up the person he loved. To me, Steins Gate and Steins Gate 0 should always be paired together. But people seem to disregard Zero completely and I don’t get why 😭
I love Stein's Gate 0! I love it more than Stein's Gate (although I know they are both part of the same story). Stein's Gate 0 is one of my top 10-15 favorite anime.
Because unlike Steins Gate, 0 is a poor and convoluted adaptation of the VN. They basically tried to cramp all the routes into a single one and it ended up as a mess. Is it a bad anime? No, but its not even close to SG. Like, the SG anime is legitimately one of the best if not the best adaptation ever. Period. Meanwhile 0.... just read the VN.
So glad you brought up Psycho-Pass! I just got back into anime this year and it was recommended to me. At first, I was like idk if I'm gonna be into this but damn it's so good. Especially in 2023. I think it will age like a fine wine.
I've maybe seen like half of the anime on this list, but overall your rankings seemed very fair :D The one I personally disagree with the most is Parasyte (to which I would put in deserved or maybe even should be more popular) because I think its themes on grief and the human condition are done in such an absolutely stellar way 💛✨
The big reason I think the Monogatari Series missed this list, or rather one of several, is that the show's best arcs come late enough into the series and require enough context from the prior arcs that anyone put off by the series' weaker or less accessible aspects won't get far enough in to appreciate them. Bake has some great moments, particularly the date episode which capped off Bake's TV run, and I will defend "Karen Bee" arc from Nise as a really interesting series of character studies if you're already sold on the show, but I personally don't think the series truly hits its stride until the stunning "Tsubasa Tiger" at the beginning of Second Season, and that's a serious commitment for a show which is frankly a lot to take in.
@@collinbealIdk I'm pretty indifferent about it. It's unique in it's directing and concepts, as well as the fanservice, but I'm not a big fan of the characters so that drags it down to a kinda "decent" anime for me.
Steins gate 0 and the movie were amazing to me. The movie was cathartic as it put into perspective just how much Okabe went through to save his friends. And steins gate 0 really puts into perspective how both Gals were needed in order to truly obtain the "good" ending. It also shows just how stretched thin okabes sanity was.
Attack on Titan is literally the only anime on this list that I have seen but it was enough to make me an anime simp now. I am therefore on a quest and I'm planning to watch almost if not all the animes you ranked in this video. Guys, wish me luck on my journey and if you have any recommandations of what to watch first, be sure to let me know!
I'd definitely recommend reading the Bleach manga. The anime cuts out some things, has filler issues if you had watched it while airing, and most importantly it works well to get it's depth and message across. I somewhat understand if you can't pay much attention to the writing when the series is so long to watch, but having it in even more depth and written out should hopefully show why I, and many other people thing that it is heavily underrated and does not deserve the hate it receives. Just a suggestion though, not every story is for everyone. And I think that the tier list did actually turn out quite solid, great video!
Monogatari doesn't seem like a crowd pleaser show. Correct me if I am wrong (I haven't watched it) but it's a play on words. People who know japanese may be able to fully comprehend it and enjoy it.
@@hokutology1718I watched like all 150 episodes of monogatari series and don't get what makes it so good in the eys of its fans. It's a good series, but certainly suited for a small group of watchers. Also, araragi is so goddamn weird
this video made me remember how old Grant is, he heeds to remember that most of the people watching anime now started watching around 2012-2016 and that's why Akame ga Kill and Blue Exorcist were popular
Which is why he is probably more suited to judge these things? He is old enough to know many of the marvels of animation, but still not too old to lose touch with the genre.
I'm a romance comedy addict. Also, that's kinda unusual with a guy in his early 30s... But I'm proud of it! and I'm glad you put Kaguya where it deserves to be. Lowkey also depressed Monogatari isn't on here.
I do wonder if Garnt is ever gonna acc watch Fma:B especially now that Joey has finally read HxH. Recently rewatched it myself and i do still think it has one of the best overall stories in anime and i love the way it slowly unravels the history of the world, its like a fun shounen version of 20th century boy in that sense
I feel like the more he puts it off, the more he won’t like it as much. It’s better when you haven’t seen a lot of anime. It’s not one of the best anime of all time, but that’s because a lot of people have strong attachments to it.
FMAB has to be one of the most overrated shows of all time. You know exactly how its gonna play out from start to finish. Predictable happy ending where Ed has a family and gets Al's body back. Its filled with dumb comic relief only a kid could enjoy. The people who still say they love FMAB (not all, of course) watched it when they were kids and only like it so much cuz of nostalgia.
@@norwa3518it’s almost like the show is for teenage boys. There’s nothing wrong with happy endings unless you are an edge lord. I also think that the series is very good, but I agree it is overrated.
Its because redo of healer sucks. If you are looking for a show centered around the theme of revenge with an overpowered protagonist and lots of sex and gore i reccomend watching blue eye samurai. Its not technichally an anime but you should watch it anyways. It has much better characters then redo of healer and doesnt exlusivly rely on shock value.

13:29 it's probably voted up because of two factors: the manga is REALLY good (and season 2, which stuck to the manga and didn't do the early-2000s "we'll make up our own shit" stuff, was way better than season 1), and a new season is coming out in 2024.
18:07 This whole monologue nailed “me” in 2012. I had literally JUST started watching anime at 22. SAO was the second show I watched after starting my own Japanese cartoon journey with AOT and I was *hooked*. For that reason, it will always hold a special place in my roster and I will always defend it (despite, yes, sometimes being very cringe).
Yeah, SAO was nowhere close to be anywhere in the range of my first 100 Animes, but I still had a really good time watching it and it was maybe due to me quitting gaming after high school that I felt nostalgia for the RPG and other gaming aspects that was popularised by it and later on by the Isekai genre and webtoons like Solo Leveling.
Literally had this convo with my non-weeb roomie the other day. She's only watched a handful of anime and therefore her exposure to isekai is quite limited. She personally really enjoyed SAO *because* of the concept. Can't say I was much different as it WAS one of my first anime. It's just looking back, I don't think I would enjoy it if I were to watch it today.
I'm always willing to go to bat for SAO, but the second half of season 1 is objectively cringe. I don't know wtf happened there, but a bunch of the stuff in the later seasons is really enjoyable.
ima put this out here rn this is mostly garnts tier list, most of us here have diffrent opinions like most why is this here i would put not popular enough. overall great vid keep up the work :)
Fairy Tail still had some great comedy and just was a cozy watch, I think for casuals it's still solid (even though later in the series + ending was just "FRIENDSHIP!")
The blue exorcist manga SLAPS and the character writing and world building just keeps getting better and better. Honestly it’s very underrated because the anime adaptation was mid.
1 thing i think you will really enjoy is kimetsu no jojo, a great parody, beautifully done, fight scenes better than most isekais, characters are blended so well, and it progresses the plot with reasonable pace
While I think it's completely fair to say Bleach fell off hard at the end (even the die hard fans would probably agree on that one) the mangaka was severely ill at the time and rushing to get an ending out. Given how TYBW is going so far with changes to the manga it's entirely possible the ending is getting rewritten/extended. Let them cook
Y'know, I really didn't think Angel Beats was a particularly sad anime; certainly not to the point of being one of those tiresome stories that seem to think making the audience cry equals art, at least. The entire setting of the show involves giving the cast a chance to come to terms with their traumas, find acceptance, and move on, and the characters that get "killed off" are by the very mechanics of the setting stepping off the stage _because_ they achieved inner peace. The post-credits scene even shows reincarnation is a thing, and that the one character who got left behind had also done the same. Granted, some of the characters' backstories would come across as tedious tear-bait in a vacuum, but they're just that: backstories, past traumas for the characters to overcome, which they achieve for the most part with frankly less dramatics than I'd expect from most non-"tearjerker" shows. It's a bit like fate/stay night, of all things: yeah, just about every focal character has a backstory that is tragic almost to the point of parody, but the "present" comes across as a lot more hopeful, the characters seem surprisingly well-adjusted and capable of enjoying themselves despite those backstories, and events don't constantly conspire to enforce contrived suffering onto them for the sake of cheap drama. By its conclusion, everyone has moved on and is ready to experience a new, hopefully more enjoyable and fulfilling next life. IMO it's bittersweet at most, rather than tragic, and there's enough comedy and lightheartedness during the thing to take the edge off even that. My tolerance for drama and tragedy is pretty low compared to most- I watch anime for entertainment after all, not to feel bad -but I had no problems with it at all
Im not going to lie, I really like Fairy Tail, I can understand some hate towards it but I dont understand why its seen as such an awful anime, it’s an incredibly fun journey imo
Just gotta say in regards to one piece, I only just started watching in June or July this year and I just about finished dressrosa(on EP.737 or so) and I have had some of the most wonderful and emotional times with this show, the pacing to me never really matters much cuz I love the world and characters so much. It also doesn't hurt that I never read the manga so I have no comparison to make. Just wanna finish with it's definitely gonna be great watching to it's finish!
I am a 32 year old man. When I was 30, I watched Violet Evergarden with my mom who does NOT watch anime. At all. In fact, she explicitly does not like animation. She likes "real" things. I forced my mom to watch Violet Evergarden after watching it once by myself. I assured her that it would be amazing. We watched it together, held each other and cried. It was an unforgettable moment I now have with my mom and I cannot thank the creator of Violet Evergarden enough for giving that moment to my mom and me.
Dr. Stone is the only anime I hard disagree on. Its slow but the unique battles are a breath of fresh air. In fact, Dr. Stone has some of the most realistic battles (not saying accurate) because the team is a lot more balanced than just firepower and heal in every other show. There is a lot of pre-planning that goes into each and every single task/fight. And even in critical situations, its not always about how to defeat the enemy with firepower but rather how to win back the fortress style.
Mob Psycho 100 is an actual perfect show. It should get it’s own tier. Because unlike AoT no one complains about the ending or how it was released. It was a very tight 3 seasons of perfect Studio Bones animation and direction. The soundtrack too, fuck it’s so perfect.
Same here it’s the only show I am ever giving a 10/10. I always thought nothing could ever be perfect until I watched mob psycho. And season 3 was an amazing conclusion. Even fmab I can find flaws that just barely set it to a 9.5/10 but with mob, can’t think of any flaws. Also just want to add that the flaw in fmab for me is the comedy. I like shounen and I like comedy but that type of humour imo has no place in a story as dark and serious as fmab. Otherwise perfect
Cannot believe he hadn't seen FMA:B... Fairy Tail was actually a good anime, sooo... SAO part 1 was amazing, it went downhill after that... Kill la Kill is such a good anime! I think it's so underate. The plot twist was just...! 10/10 Another is such a good anime!
Ippo should be more popular than Haikyu imo. This episode was so funny, Garnt saying stuff about being a teen was so spot on. I remember loving elfen lied so much as well LOL.
I don't agree that Hajime no Ippo should be more popular than Haikyuu!!, but I do agree that it is the better show. Haikyuu!! has more broad appeal, to where people who don't otherwise watch anime watch it, and it's really quality. Hajime no Ippo doesn't have that same sleek modernity to it, but it's a certified hood classic.
@@jesusbarrera6916 every sports anime fan I know personally likes the show, and I have an example of someone who doesn't watch anime but watches the show in my partner's teenage sister. My man really tried to slide Anohana in to slightly overrated and expect me to not notice. It is absolutely deserved, I am willing to throw hands over that fact
Mob Psycho being polaced in the "not popular enough" category made every other decision in this list alright. I loved that show and it is the first shounen where I both read the manga and watched the anime because I liked it so much. I really wish more popular liked it because it had a good story to tell and enjoyable characters.
I have been ranting bout Psycho Pass Season 1 for almost half of my life and I wont stop till everyone watch it. Everything about it is just scream perfection from its Animation, Story, Music and Message. Like fr, just watch the first 3 episode man
i think like the tartaros arc and the stuff around it was pretty hype and the arc where we get backstory about the guild master. The problem is there is so much shit in between and in the beginning and end, nobody can take it seriously as a whole. Also too much fanservice.
Oshi no Ko has some of the best animation quality, music, editing, voice acting, is heavy on social commentary and also points a mirror at the viewers a lot and makes them think about themselves and their own actions. Easily one of if not the best anime ever made.
@@sl3rpi-z-z932 I personally think so, but it's kind of hard to answer that question well because everyone has their own idea of what is worth watching to them and what isn't.
"Death Parade is Angel Beats done right." Thank you! This is exactly what it is, but so much more. Death Parade stays with you till your old age wondering if you are living a fulfilling life. It doesn't spoon feed tragedy. Life is tragedy find beauty in it.
For me Angel Beats was a little disappointing because people around me kept calling it a very emotional show but it came off as trying really hard to make me emotional. The fact that it was like 12 or 13 episodes doesn't help it either.
Thank you for the ranking, it really made my day 😊 And special thanks for the Psycho-Pass shout out!❤🔥 Sad that it's not as popular as it deserves, but I hope more and more people watch the 1st brilliant season after your video
12:07 As of the release of this video, Sousou no Frieren was rated above FMAB. Whether it keeps that spot to the end of its season & beyond remains to be seen.
It's weird that I didn't really like Violet Evergarden... Until the finale. That movie was great and actually got me to like and understand the characters. Totally worth a watch now that its concluded.
I don't know, the 1st season was a solid 9/10 for me, but i fell asleep several times watching the 2nd season, some episodes felt like fillers, i also around the middle of the season i was struggleling to watch a full episode compared to the 1st season it was way too boring. So after all i gave 7/10 to the anime, but once the 3rd season comes out i gonna give it a 2nd watch.
fairy tail done dirty. Ofc it's not the best but the concept, world etc is very well done. It really doesnt deserve all the hate it gets. Also One Piece should be nr 1 so it needs to be more popular 😅 i agree with the rest of the list ❤
I think sword art online deserves the popularity because it started and inspired so many anime that we see now, if you liked it or not it’s the original…I feel like most of the hate it got because other anime just try to copy it, and because people seen this pattern a lot so they got tired of it…
It gets hated because it's a bad anime. Just go back and watch S1 and they literally rush through the entire game, and then don't even get to the top, it stops on like level 66 or something. And it's extremely cringe, where they give up, get married and adopt an AI as a child. It's so braindead and stupid that the MC is literally called a beater because he played the beta which is why he is OP. What a terrible anime that does not deserve any sort of accolades at all.
he said it on trash taste like a year or two and i was shocked too lol. its funny seeing him troll on random youtubers videos by saying fmab is his favourite.
I love VInland Saga! it's one of my top 5-10 favorite anime. I think it's not quite popular enough to be in the top 50 of My Anime List, unfortunately.
Yeah, I wasn't super into JJK season 1 because it seemed to lose direction and hardly focused on Itadori at the end, so I wasn't invested in any stakes. But JJK 0 and season 2 fixed that.

I was disappointed that they didn't manage to capture the scene where Ishida is trying to "fix" everything before he end himself.

Agreed. A lot of people see it as this "fun" show, but it asks some really deep existential questions imo, I enjoyed it for that.
Its on my watchlist
14:35 i'm a parasyte collector so i'll try my best not to be bias, the manga and anime are both filled with author's lines in between making you think about topics that you're actually met with in real life. that's really the reason why the actual fanbase is small but incredibly loyal. doesn't matter if the lines are thrown at you through migi, shinichi or just other characters. it almost feels like a philosophy book put into a story, thus why me and others love it so much.
There might be some overlap, but I think you should do a similar list for the highest RATED anime of all time, would think that'd be interesting.

Personally I quite enjoyed Noragami's story (the anime), it felt different enough from most action Shonens and it had way more emotional conflict than I had expected for the genre. His personal goals are completely separate from his fighting powers, so the parts with the highest stakes are not solved by who can hit harder.

@@Spammit-ye4vwthe thing is that Death Note is so hype, that it tricks people into being better written than it is
Heck yeah, Stein's Gate! I like (actually love) psychological anime too; it's my favorite genre along with fantasy.
But people seem to disregard Zero completely and I don’t get why 😭
sg 0 is pogg!!!
It's good, but the og steins gate just raised the bar too high it's feels like sg 0 is just a money milking story rather than an actual spin off
Stein;gate 0 had some absolutely awful moments of both pacing/animation and writing, even if it had a decent ending.
I've heard of it but never watch it, with this tier list I've put it on my list
I've maybe seen like half of the anime on this list, but overall your rankings seemed very fair :D The one I personally disagree with the most is Parasyte (to which I would put in deserved or maybe even should be more popular) because I think its themes on grief and the human condition are done in such an absolutely stellar way 💛✨
Erased and Your Lie in April deserve to be higher too
The big reason I think the Monogatari Series missed this list, or rather one of several, is that the show's best arcs come late enough into the series and require enough context from the prior arcs that anyone put off by the series' weaker or less accessible aspects won't get far enough in to appreciate them.
Owari S2 is my fav season. But for me Bake is already a strong opening season, it's still one of my fav.
Very true king. Monogatari peak.
It's definitely a "you love it or you hate it" kind of show. I don't know how someone could be indifferent about it. I'm in the love camp, btw.

Anime was doing fine without it. It's a good show but it continuing an existent trend rather than making a whole new one.
I watched CG 4 times and it SLAPPED everytime. The last arc of chaos was magnificent.
I'm still confused as to how Monogatari and TTGL are missing from the top 50.

Monogatari doesn't seem like a crowd pleaser show. Correct me if I am wrong (I haven't watched it) but it's a play on words. People who know japanese may be able to fully comprehend it and enjoy it.

She personally really enjoyed SAO *because* of the concept. Can't say I was much different as it WAS one of my first anime. It's just looking back, I don't think I would enjoy it if I were to watch it today.
I always respect SAO enjoyer, back then it was genuinely cool and interesting
@@aaronyoghurt9210 Same
I'm always willing to go to bat for SAO, but the second half of season 1 is objectively cringe. I don't know wtf happened there, but a bunch of the stuff in the later seasons is really enjoyable.
20:19 the dying mom story is fucking heart wrenching. I ugly cry everytime I watch it.
I think that's the one story that everyone remembers
ima put this out here rn this is mostly garnts tier list, most of us here have diffrent opinions like most why is this here i would put not popular enough.
overall great vid keep up the work :)
1 thing i think you will really enjoy is kimetsu no jojo, a great parody, beautifully done, fight scenes better than most isekais, characters are blended so well, and it progresses the plot with reasonable pace
i post anime vids too i just posted an analysis pls consider checking it out :D
While I think it's completely fair to say Bleach fell off hard at the end (even the die hard fans would probably agree on that one) the mangaka was severely ill at the time and rushing to get an ending out. Given how TYBW is going so far with changes to the manga it's entirely possible the ending is getting rewritten/extended. Let them cook
putting mha and bleach on the same level is blasphemy
He doesn't know shit about anime he is just giving his opinions and fevoritesm that's all
Pretty sure it was confirmed that the anime is going to have a different ending from the manga
TYBW is peak even the manga ending (which isn't even the ending)is peak
Parasyte is barely even talked about, I don't think it's at all overrated, underrated if anything.
My tolerance for drama and tragedy is pretty low compared to most- I watch anime for entertainment after all, not to feel bad -but I had no problems with it at all
To me Angel Beats was slightly overrated. I don't know why but it felt like it was trying too hard to make me care about these characters.
"Death Parade is Angel Beats done right."
We are gathered here today to celebrate the size of this W.
Wait till you get to whole cake island or Wano LOL
Thats a good opinion
Why cant atleast 50% onepiece fans be like you. Say what they found interesting instead of spamming its peak
I went back and rewatched all of Psycho Pass recently and damn…
It’s kinda like SEL in that it feels like it predicted a lot of the future
Mob Psycho 100 is an actual perfect show. It should get it’s own tier. Because unlike AoT no one complains about the ending or how it was released. It was a very tight 3 seasons of perfect Studio Bones animation and direction. The soundtrack too, fuck it’s so perfect.
i've heard so many people said it's underrated to the point that i think it's rated fair enough lol
still a very good show without a doubt though
Same here it’s the only show I am ever giving a 10/10. I always thought nothing could ever be perfect until I watched mob psycho. And season 3 was an amazing conclusion.
Even fmab I can find flaws that just barely set it to a 9.5/10 but with mob, can’t think of any flaws.
Also just want to add that the flaw in fmab for me is the comedy. I like shounen and I like comedy but that type of humour imo has no place in a story as dark and serious as fmab. Otherwise perfect
couldnt agree more!!@@jym2r
Lmao you cannot even see the characters in the action scenes just a bunch of gibberish effects
Steins;Gate 0 just makes the first season even better.
Yeah! Very much so.
Damn, I wanted to see it after SG, should I not?

Fairy Tail was actually a good anime, sooo...
SAO part 1 was amazing, it went downhill after that...
Kill la Kill is such a good anime! I think it's so underate. The plot twist was just...! 10/10
Another is such a good anime!
Dr. Stone is legitimately not Popular Enough lol.
Fr. It needs S1 hype back.
It was hilarious that Gigguk has to put disclaimer when rating JJK
Ippo should be more popular than Haikyu imo. This episode was so funny, Garnt saying stuff about being a teen was so spot on. I remember loving elfen lied so much as well LOL.
I don't agree that Hajime no Ippo should be more popular than Haikyuu!!, but I do agree that it is the better show. Haikyuu!! has more broad appeal, to where people who don't otherwise watch anime watch it, and it's really quality. Hajime no Ippo doesn't have that same sleek modernity to it, but it's a certified hood classic.
@@collinbeal 90% of Haikyuu's popularity is Fujoshis and their yaoi fanart.... it does not have a broader appeal

My man really tried to slide Anohana in to slightly overrated and expect me to not notice. It is absolutely deserved, I am willing to throw hands over that fact
It's just yet another cry porn. I think the song hard carried it lol.
You should probably rewatch Parasyte. It's really far more than what you gave it credit for.
Yeah. I don't know if he really appreciates and/or understands the themes of "what is human(ity)?" in it. He should rewatch Re:Zero too imo.
Mob Psycho being polaced in the "not popular enough" category made every other decision in this list alright. I loved that show and it is the first shounen where I both read the manga and watched the anime because I liked it so much. I really wish more popular liked it because it had a good story to tell and enjoyable characters.
couldnt agree more, mob anime is so so good! manga too i own them all
I have been ranting bout Psycho Pass Season 1 for almost half of my life and I wont stop till everyone watch it.
Everything about it is just scream perfection from its Animation, Story, Music and Message.
Like fr, just watch the first 3 episode man
heyyy that part where sydney asked for her outfit was just too cute!! so cute that he is very supportive.
Fairy Tail defender here just to say,
It ain’t actually that bad, shit gets pretty hype
i post anime vids too i just posted an analysis pls consider checking it out :D
as someone who was obsessed with fairytail for an embarassing amount of time, it do be hype. Everything else is bad though.
i think like the tartaros arc and the stuff around it was pretty hype and the arc where we get backstory about the guild master. The problem is there is so much shit in between and in the beginning and end, nobody can take it seriously as a whole. Also too much fanservice.
It's definitely fun/10. It's no high art but I had a good time reading/watching it.
bro put 7 deadly sins higher than akame ga kill💀💀
Hot take: both bad (i watched none of the two)
Oshi no Ko has some of the best animation quality, music, editing, voice acting, is heavy on social commentary and also points a mirror at the viewers a lot and makes them think about themselves and their own actions.
Easily one of if not the best anime ever made.
I know! I love it so much.

Where the hell is Gintama?..
ikr
Gintama is incredibly unpopular.
"Death Parade is Angel Beats done right."
Thank you!
This is exactly what it is, but so much more. Death Parade stays with you till your old age wondering if you are living a fulfilling life. It doesn't spoon feed tragedy. Life is tragedy find beauty in it.
I need too watch Death parade. I really liked Angel Beats. I gave it 8 out of 10 on mal
For me Angel Beats was a little disappointing because people around me kept calling it a very emotional show but it came off as trying really hard to make me emotional. The fact that it was like 12 or 13 episodes doesn't help it either.
FMA obviously belongs in not popular enough seeing as he still hasn't seen it.
I'd watch Fairy Tail 1000 times over before I'd ever watch Eva or One Piece.
It's weird that I didn't really like Violet Evergarden... Until the finale. That movie was great and actually got me to like and understand the characters. Totally worth a watch now that its concluded.
Re:Zero should be in "NOT POPULAR ENOUGH!", imo.
6:20 bro the toradora ost almost got me in my feels. It's been so long since i last heard it. 😭
Death Parade is on here?! HELL YES!
i think parasite is deserved i still love that show and i know it's unexpected but the dubstep works.
fairy tail done dirty.
From Trash Takes to Shit Takes, Garnt is evolving, just backwards.
Just curious: which takes of his do you think were shit takes?

Yeah, I wasn't super into JJK season 1 because it seemed to lose direction and hardly focused on Itadori at the end, so I wasn't invested in any stakes. But JJK 0 and season 2 fixed that.
