I love this recipe and reminds me of my mom. She made it for Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas every single year!! She passed away 7 months before our wedding so we served this dish in her honor at our reception!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️

She doesn’t have any glasses on so she probably couldn’t read it plus she was going by size of the container. But that just makes us love her more because everybody who cooks has a goof every once in a while. I make this too and everybody who eats it just loves it so much and yes it’s as good as any desert.
Cracks me up. I’ve done that so many times, added the wrong amount of a spice and I’m scraping it out 😂 😂

I watched Jamie’s pumpkin pie video right before this one, I laughed with him too but for different little things I picked up on. When he said “I’m here in Momma’s kitchen” & then when he was wanting to pour the pie into the shell, first he wanted to take the beaters off the mixer & then it was he needed to make sure that they were over a bowl so it didn’t drip everywhere, he too made the comment about tasting with the raw eggs, & burning his face off but you both tasted anyway 🤣! I could just imagine the time that you’ve spent in the kitchen with your boy’s teaching what to do, what not to do, & how it should look when they’re done! In my opinion, you all are very blessed to have such wonderful memories of that time spent together! If more families could or would do what you’ve done, shared that time together, I believe that this world would be a much better place! I hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

My son is allergic to nuts. Last year I used crushed pretzels in the topping instead of pecans. It was great!!

I learned to make this as a newlywed living in Georgia some 45 years ago. Our daughters request it every Thanksgiving. My husband came home from work bragging on the sweet potato casserole he had at a carry in holiday meal at work. We were newlyweds at the time. His boss's wife had made it. I told him to ask his boss for the recipe. He brought the recipe home and the casserole became a yearly tradition for us at Thanksgiving as one of our side dishes.
I feel so much better about me messing up recipes that turn out great! Miss Paula it sure looks yummy.

I made this as a PIE this week - and it was OUTSTANDING!! I used a 9" deep dish pie shell and baked for 40 minutes at 350. There will be some filling and topping leftover - so I put in a small dish and made a small casserole

Your hair sure has gotten long there girlie! I am thinkin i might just make this casserole because im really sick of the same old recipes. Mind you they are all as yummy as can be but i feel like mixing things up a bit. In the spirit of things being so upside down i think id like to make some new dishes and make some new traditions. I made this last year exactly like you did, mistakes and all, and I’m doing it again this year! My only difference is I grated fresh nutmeg, which is a bit milder than the canned. Our family loved it more than the pies and cakes! Thanks so much Paula! ❤️🙏🏻

Making this for me and my husband's Thanksgiving (use to having 10-15 people). My Grandmother always added more nutmeg in her breads, pumpkin pie, etc. She loved it so much and so do I. This sounds so wonderful.
We are also going to add little marshmallows on top then pop it back in till they brown a little and puff up.
