      It's a bit weird that Haaland isn't in there, though. With all due to respect to Mane, who was undoubtedly one of the best players in the world *while at Liverpool*, I think his subsequent seasons with Bayern and even Al-Nassr have shown that he benefited massively from Liverpool's hyper-attacking system, which was almost custom-built for the inside forwards. When you compare him with people like Agüero, who I think we can all agree is one of the best strikers in Premier League history, and Haaland, who casually breaks records left, right, and centre, he just doesn't hold his own.
      I think for the combined XI, they should've just gone with a Klopp-style front 3, with Salah and Agüero being inside forwards and Haaland in the middle.

    • @maxkho00
      @maxkho00 Год назад

      Also, Bernardo not being in this team feels off. I know that, if this were an actual team, you'd have to put either Rodri or Fernandinho in there to cover for the attacking trio and the rest of the midfield, but symbolically, there is absolutely no way that Rodri makes the team and Bernardo doesn't.

    Genuinely think the Pep v Klopp debate is a difficult one. I don't think Klopp would have won as much as Pep with Pep's teams, but equally i don't think Pep could have done anything close to what Klopp has done with Mainz, Dortmund or Liverpool.

    • @brettpearce8843
      @brettpearce8843 Год назад +51

      Klopp would of probably won more tbh. Look at the level he got Liverpool with nowhere near the money, pep is world class but he couldn't do what klopp has, on the other hand klopp still hits that level with 115 advantages and an endless fund of money. If the roles were reversed we'd have had no title challenge in 6 years.

    • @ishraqsyed8999
      @ishraqsyed8999 Год назад +22

      Yeah it is such an interesting debate. I kind of agree. I feel if you have top quality technical players then pep is the better manager. He would make them even better but he demands a certain level of technical quality. That is why likes of kalvin philips didn't work for him.
      However if you have above average or very good players who are not top top players then klopp is a better manager for them. He would get the most out of limited resources. By no means gini wijnaldum, Henderson and fabinho individually are world class players. I would also put Robertson in there. However klopp's style is more based on intensity and counter pressing which needs willing runners. If you are a good footballer and not that great technically and you have that intensity and physicality then that kind of player can thrive more under klopp.
      Some Eg
      kalvin philips could have been a better fit for klopp
      Trent I feel would have gone even a level up with pep. He wouldn't have had to defend much.
      Likewise I don't think the likes of grealish would do that well under klopp
      And someone like Henderson Gini or Robertson would not do that good under pep.
      In a way they both are at the perfect clubs.

    I have heard people say Klopp will win just as Pep did if he manages City as compared to Pep with Liverpool or maybe Dortmund. Both managers have different styles and need certain players to make this successful. I don't think Klopp could transform Foden, Rodri, Lahm, etc. as Pep did. Neither could Pep have enough patience as Klopp to nurture some of the lads under him for them to evolve. These two have tactical brilliance and try hard to accommodate the right players to fit in.

Guardiola had one of, if not the best team in the history of football with barca (who have been accused of bribing refs) didn't win the CL with Bayern. Yes he's dominated the league with City recently but they do have 115 FFP charges against them

Not taking anything from the absolute brilliance of Pep and his legacy, but what would Pep or Klopp be without each other? My argument to why I would choose Klopp would come down to investments. Klopp has done MORE for Liverpool with allot less ability to spend than Pep at City over the last 8 years and without scrutiny.

    The entire Pep vs Klopp argument comes down to this. Yes there is a major difference in money. But it can’t be ignored. Pep is an amazing tactician, the greatest manager of all time probably, but Pep goes to a dominant team with money and gets success. What Klopp has done not just with less money but his ability to transform clubs is what sets him apart. Barca, Munich, were massive before Pep and after. City was successful before Pep but obviously he brought even more. But City will continue to be dominant long after he leaves unless they get punished by the FA (they do have 115 charges pending)….What Klopp did at Mainz long term is built a successful academy, built a great managerial program and yes he got relegated but Mainz should be a team in the second division anyways. And they aren’t.. people forget or don’t realize that he literally saved Dortmund who were on the brink of bankruptcy and won trophies and while LFC were massive before Klopp, as a LFC fan, since day 1 the club feels completely different under him then Previous managers.
    In the end Pep brings success through spending and brining in amazing players. Klopp brings success by transforming the entire club. End of debate.
