Note: your brain can also MAKE cholesterol. But, like creatine - which your body can MAKE - if you eat more (via red meat), your levels are increased. Some people seem to be confused about this basic principle.

    • @LuvLuke954

Thank you. Creatinine levels are very high on the priority list for patients with kidney disease. I don’t eat red meat very often. And - As someone with ADHD, getting information like yours is so crucial to being able to see a full picture. It’s one of my symptoms and my strengths. Lol Seeing a direct correlation between getting off statins to healthy eating and exercise will be the catalyst (We love a good catalyst! Lol) that gets me back where I was last year when I was focused and lost 30 lbs by staying completely off processed foods and exercising 3 days a week but moving every day for 30 min. So simple with a less superficial purpose. Thank you! 🙏🏻 I will stick w chicken and fish.

The numbers for cholesterol and BP have been consistently driven down since the 80s in order for the drug companies to sell more toxins. The fact that so many doctors go along with it is alarming. I have an engineering background and the lack of critical thinking skills in the medical profession is terrifying. Thank you for all you do , doctor. The good are out there and you’re one of them.

    • @johnanon658

Everything you say here is painfully correct.
However, another rather painful fact of the matter is the lack of critical thinking skills in the engineering profession is nearly, if not just as bad. As bitter as that incontrovertible epiphany can be, it's always far better to recognize it as soon as possible. Not unlike the medical profession, the engineering profession attracts status chasers more than skill seekers, and educational standards have continually eased to accommodate them. Hence, the small minority of the latter build & carry the reputation that the bulk of wannabes and charlatans ride upon, avec their store-bought degrees.

I am 70 and not on any prescription meds. My cholesterol is just over the ‘recommended’. My husband is 77 and they put him on medication for Dementia. After 10+ years we find out that with an MRI that he does not have dementia. He had a silent stroke that caused short term memory loss. He is now off all RX. The original diagnosis did not include any testing. Just give him meds. IMO it also caused him a decline in health since he felt all was lost with supposedly having dementia. He quit eating right and just ends up with more and more medical problems under the care of doctors. Last stay in the hospital they gave him what I consider a very unhealthy diet. It really make me angry. My son (50) has a TBI with Aphasia and they also gave him a bad diet 4 years ago when he was in the hospital. The Aphasia caused him to lose all nouns. He was there for a month and had lost all his nouns due to the injury. They said his injury was permanent. He went on disability and lives with me. In 2 years of me working with him and language many hours a day a friend wanted him to come work with his company. Between my work with him and the exposure to other people and more language he is now off disability and has enough language back to be able to do phone sales. We have to use more common sense and be skeptical about what doctors tell us to do. Question everything and research yourself before blindly following orders, IMO.

I often precept nursing students... and to them and others, I encourage learning two sets of three words each: "absolute risk reduction" and "relative risk reduction." The former is the actual effectiveness of medications, and the latter is pure marketing and sales language. Did you know the absolute risk reduction of statins (in general) for reducing all forms of mortality is ONLY 0.8%? And for that extremely worthless risk reduction, there's a risk of dementia, worsening dementia, pre-diabetes, worsening diabetes, muscle aches and pains, and tendon rupture.
Let us also consider that the longer someone is on any medication the more likely the side effects will become reality.

Im 65 now, been an RN for 44 years. As a much younger nurse working in a hospital I had a front seat to the beginning of the big pharma influence in the 80 and 90s on the resident doctors (who are now late middle aged and the bulk of the MDs in practice) with meals at the latest restaurants, "educational" trips for the MDs and "speaker fees" for their attendance. They no longer saw patients as a complete package, only symptoms that could be individually "managed" with this latest drug or another. Only to have that miraculous new drug be pulled off the market due to unfortunate complications "not foreseen". (If proper testing had been done by a neutral party perhaps then it would be believably unforeseen) What you say is spot on: as a home care nurse it wasn't unusual for a patient to be on 20-25 meds, not including others to deal with "side effects". Its sad really how many people - and physicians - just don't see whats in front of them and the terrible cost to everyone's health.

Ive cured arthritis, ibs, gastric reflux, depression, anxiety, prostate problems, joint pain, sleep apnoea, inflammation, t2 diabetes and no longer fear alzheimers or parkinsons. The first med i binned was my statins. My testosterone is through the roof, im back in the workplace now shaming guys half my age. Ive regained my life and my power. I take the view that unless someone has a health crisis they will not consider alternatives. I changed to Keto often breaking a bone and was classed with osteo porosis, and the advice was ludicrous. I already did exercise, I already ate what was recommended. Did my research and went Keto - fantastic result. Now about 3 mths into carnivore. Just astonishing to me that fibre is nonsense, the need for fruit and vegetables is just not true. Probably go back to Keto as don't really feel any better on carnivore. Keep my opinions to myself but shudder when young kids are on vegan, animal protein/fats is just essential for cholesterol (which is what the brain is largely composed of). So sad.

My mother developed early diamentia symptoms from statins. Here is how it works. Long term statin use may increase blood sugar levels. If these glucose levels go undetected for a long period of time then there is permanent damage to all organs including the brain. My mother was on statins for > 10 years although she had no heart risk factors. I send statins to the garbage bin , and her glucose levels came back to normal. I had a kidney transplant 2 years ago. I’ve been on statins ever since. I went back to school and now I feel like my ADHD is worse. When I first went back I was actually able to sit for 8-12 hours and study with intention. 2 years later I can’t hardly care. I have tried asking to eliminate some of my meds and statin was the first I wanted removed from my regimen. I finally told my Dr that if I stick to my no-processed food diet and exercise routine I’m going off of statins and he didn’t disagree.
Well. Now I’ve decided im not waiting for the perfect weight or routine. I eat healthy and I exercise only about 2x a week - that’s going to increase to 5 days a week and it’s better for my ADHD anyway.
I’m done with them. I’ve known that they were bad for the brain for years. Years before I was diagnosed with kidney disease. And you’re so right - you have to look and keep looking in order to find credible sources in medical journals etc. news sources and medicine are a deal made by the devil.

I am 67, I have controlled afib. My cardiologist just prescribed statins after my labs came back. My cholesterol was high, normal, she wants the level down below 200. It was 239. This is the first high result I have ever had. I recently went thru a terrible loss. I was grieving and consoling myself with donuts, cookies, cake, potato chips and pop. Didn’t feel like cooking, so I ate a lot of junk food and takeout. Not much exercise. I fell down a rabbit hole of not caring. One bad test and she wants me on statins. I took one pill but started reading about the statins. I have many close family members that lived with dementia. I told her I don’t want to die from heart disease but I don’t want to live with dementia. I’m not taking statins. She said statins don’t cause dementia, they lower the risk. I need a new cardiologist and a new diet.
No more cakes and cookies and pop for me. I got rid of it all. I bought salmon and veggies and almonds etc. but I need a diet that is simple to follow. There’s too much information out there for me to sift through. I need something simple to follow. And I hate avocados! 😊
Help me find out what to eat. I know I need to lose weight. I swim. I walk in a pool, I have a bad leg from an accident years ago. I can’t walk on concrete walkways without pain. So I walk in the pool. I need a plan.

I am not too knowledgeable about statins and cholesterol, but all I can say is that we have been prescribing statins like smarties, I see middle aged and older people and probably every other or third one takes some statins, and we have a dementia pandemic lingering over us. I do check my blood glucose from time to time, knowing it is a poison if not under control, but I am not worried about blood lipids as much. Knowing enough about metabolic syndrome, I suffer none of its symptoms (minus the unknown lipids) and no doctor will convince me to take statins if my blood lipids were above their threshold. Had a lovely beef broth today, home made with leftover lamb fat from drained mince when I cooked shepherds pie, and enjoyed it with two slices of sourdough rye bread and some bufallo butter, bought as a specialty. I do my scrambled eggs on butter and also cook basmati rice with butter. We do use oil too, where appropriate. Coconut oil for Thai cuisine, sesame oil for stir fries, olive oil on fresh salads...

    • @davidgifford8112
      @davidgifford8112 4 месяца назад +1

Cholesterol weakly correlates with CAD. Correlation is not causation. The pathology is a little complex but cholesterol entering the arterial walls can be seen as part of a repair mechanism. Atherosclerotic lesions often resemble pimples, scabs on scabs, where damage occurs and indeed there is a bacterial colonialism component. Once a lesion is covered calcification takes place to stabilise the repair. The answer is yes but it maybe a good thing.
Very low cholesterols are associated with “clinical” malnutrition and low serum albumin, which increases all cause (including heart failure, low CoQ10) mortality.

    Him: that's long enough!

That's why keto/carnivore is a "workaround" for dementia.
Moreover, statins can damage liver and cause enzymes (AST/ALT) skyhigh

A couple of years ago I was told my cholesterol was 7.5 and advised to go on a low fat diet. I chose a low fat vegan diet. My cholesterol went down, I lost weight and I felt well. Part of the reason I was so committed to the low fat vegan diet was the study of Blue Zones: places around the world where people live independently into their 90s without (or showing little signs of) major diseases (apologies if I have mis represented blue zones but it is something to this effect). The studies find that vegan or vegetarian diets are a common factor, although there are about 12 factors in all (including spirituality). Another reason I chose low fat vegan is my Mothers history. She loved cream, cheese and meat, sugar and refined white flour, but DIDNT have high cholesterol. She developed dementia in her 80s. After watching your excellent presentation I’m now thoroughly confused. How should I reconcile all the above?

Blue Zones cherry pick data, similar to Ancel Keys. i can't advise what you should do without looking at your DNA

My doc put me on different statins and I noticed a radical diminished cognitive function immediately, aside from other side effects...
I said no more. Thank God.

It is the first time I see one of your video's. I am 75 years young and according to my recent doctor needs statins because of high colestorol levels. 13 years ago, we lived in another part of South Africa. Our doctor prescribed statins to me. I developed cataracts in both my eyes during that time and needed lens replacements. The specialist advised me to stop the medication. We moved to the south coast for retirement. Our new doctor again prescribed statins. Within a short while I developed serious pain and weakness in my lower legs. I decided to stop using the statins and reported it to my doctor. (That was more than a year ago). After recent bloodtests, he prescribed statins once more. I refused to take it. I would rather try to rectify the LDL with my diet. I am just confused by the different kinds of diets -- Keto, Low Fat, No Fat etc. etc. etc.!!! Please help!

For a start u won't go wrong with cutting sugar & processed carbs. These should cut your blood triglyceride levels, which is a more accurately indicator for risk of stroke & heart disease. With less carbs your calories will come from moderate protein & pretty high good fat intake. Good fats meaning AVOID high omega 6 veg/seed oils like canola, soy, corn, etc. Choose those from fatty fish, grass fed meats, organic butter/ghee, olive & avocado oils. Relatively low omega 6 & low oxalate nuts like walnuts & macadamia may also be included. Choose organic veg with low oxalates & other antinutrients where possible. Fast occasionally if u can & get some sunshine (vit D3) All the best for your health! ❤

My father had a heart attack, so there's little hope of even getting down to one of the ones that don't raise blood sugar. They were willing to change him to rosuvastatin, so it's at least the hydrophylic one, less likely to cross the blood-brain barrier.

Dear Dr. Jay you are a G. Really appreciate any health professionals on your level that are bringing the truth out.
My doctor just told me my cholesterol is nearly statin-worthy (6.12 mmol) so he would try to prescribe me statins if it was 6.20 and Im 39 quite healthy.
Its a huge pet peeve for me how these doctors are such muppets, especially when you start talking about your own research and they sneer at you. All most doctors have ever done for me is prescribe drugs that cause more problems.

Aluminum is also associated with alzheimers. See Dennis Crouse, PhD on alzheimers, aluminum, and high silica water. BTW, Alzeimer's is sometimes called "Type III Diabetes" because of the glucose metabolism problem.
