TAKING BACK control of her identity, Chloe Bean, an influencer from Scottsdale, Arizona, has had the trauma of watching her hair fall out three times after receiving an alopecia diagnosis when she was a little girl. Initially feeling like she had lost her femininity, she stood strong in the face of adversity and now dedicates her time to showing the world that bald is beautiful and losing your hair should never mean losing yourself. The beaming advocate has had her share of negativity due to her lack of locks but it's only made her stronger and now she shares that strength with thousands of followers every day while going one step further in creating and offering products specifically designed for people who have been, are going through or are starting the same journey she has spent her life battling herself. Chloe said: "I posted my very first video of me going bald and the whole process of the bald spots, how it got bigger and bigger. And then my dad shaving my head on TikTok and it received a ton of support. I had so many people reaching out to me saying that they're going through the same thing. I was very surprised when it got that much attention. It went global which allowed me to really pinpoint that I want to do this throughout my lifetime. My passion to help inspire and encourage others will never stop growing."

True, but I do hate it when people with alopeica feel pressured to walk around bald. I choose not to walk around bald because 1: Shaving is actually time consuming and can leave razor cuts. 2: I just prefer how I look with hair over being bald, but I'm not ashamed to show off my alopecia once in awhile. My aunt is like her, she walks around bald and I respect that.

My girlfriend has that too. Although she went bald two years ago and wasn't born with it like Chloe. And I witnessed that whole process two years ago with my own eyes when my girlfriend became bald. It happened all so fast. She just woke up one morning with a bald patch on her head and then only within 6 weeks she lost all of her hair and nothing was left and she was bald... And she had very long brown hair before that. It was so surreal. We went to different doctors, tried to stop it desperatly but nothing helped. And in that time she wasn't as confident as she is today. But I was there for here. Of course I told her that I love her even if she is bald. There were many days when she was missing hair her, when she felt bad about being bald, looked in the mirror, cried, tears and emotions, everything because a big part of her was missing BUT I was comforting her, hugging her and telling her that she is still beautiful. Now two years later she is definitively more confident, I think she accepted it and got over it. Although she still covers her scalp when out in public. Mostly with head wraps, head scarfes or turbans. She has some wigs but she says that wigs are a pain in the butt haha so she doesn't wear them that often. But girls with alopecia who go out completely bald without covering it in public like Chloe are very rare, so I really admire her confidence!

@Curlyteller so I'm currently 29. I had some of the thickest hair of any of my friends through out junior high & high-school. I would say I noticed my hair started thinning out a good bit around age 21-23. By the time I was 25 it was so thin I hadn't wore my hair down in over a year. (I know that's probably bad but I was just too self conscious to wear it down!) Even tho this went on for yrs I never went to see a Dr or dermatologist until recently & that is I would say my biggest regret. I think I was afraid to know that it might be permanent. However watching stories like this & becoming a mother to my own little girl has really started to change my perspective on losing my hair. Every woman deserves to feel beautiful & comfortable in their own skin. 😌

@@SERGIO-cr6uy My hair loss was due to extreme dieting (along with dehydration). Not only did my hair fall out, I also had an irregular heartbeat and kidney stones. I never learned until I ended up in the emergency room. As I've gotten older, I learned to take care of my body because we only get one.

I love eating and don't care about how I look, but I'm getting to a point when I do need to pay attention.
But you girls have to stop doing those extreme diets. If you have family and true friends, then you should be happy.

This really made me feel better. I'm 24 and had a stroke last year and had to have a craniotomy.. and then a cranioplasty like 6 or 7 months later. So they had to shave my head twice. I still haven't worked up the nerve to see any of my old friends. I kinda just became a hermit. I hardly leave home anymore. Bc my hair was pretty much the only physical quality I liked about myself. But seeing how confident and beautiful you are, really helped. Thank you 💖

Having gone through this, and carrying the surgical marks to prove it since 2008,I want to encourage you to go out and be visible.
I met a group of people who had brain surgery and one of the members coined the term Zipperhead. I love being an advocate for showing ourselves as we are. The short hair and visible surgical marks is a signal for strength that is lost, when we hide away.
Be out and about, and most important of all, be proud to have gone through such a hard time and on the road of recovery.
I recently lost all my hair, I'm having a hard time with it. This story gives me some hope, thank you

I lost my hair twice (at 26 and 41).
It changed me as a person...feeling like my youthful looking years was short ended.
People say its only hair but it changes our confidence.
I started losing mine at around 28. It's been coming out very slow, although recently due to the stress of low ferritin levels I got two new bald spots! (YAY! lol). So far I have about 40% of the hair on my head, but I'm also losing hair on other parts of my body and regrowing at the same time. I just put a wig on it and shave when the hair gets too long. Alopecia seems to be hereditary for me. I have an aunt, and younger sister that had it too. Luckily my sister was abled to save her hair with treatment, I opted out of all treatment, and looking at the pitting on the scalp of the girl in the video, I think I made a good call.
I lost mine at 19.
She looks absolutely fantastic with her bald head. Her head has a perfect shape to it and she doesn't need a wig. Once more, her personality also enhances her beauty. She's beautiful on the inside as well as the outside.

I have chrons disease and I went bald twice because the lack of nutrients my body could absorb.. watching ur hair come out in huge clumps literally feels like ur women hood is being stripped from you. Both times it was down to my butt and it was all gone within 6 or 7 months. The only thing I would hate when I would talk to family or friends some they would say "just shave it off" or shave it off and wear a wig🙄 that is so damn easy to say unless u are the one going through it.my own sister made fun of me. She loved seeing me go through what I went through.besides hair I was thick in a good way and I got down to 100 pounds. My legs was the same thickness as my arms, it was scary. My eyes had black under it that make up couldn't cover. I had to go back to work after almost a year with less then a inch of hair on my head and I went to the hair salon and that and the hair dresser just so happens her husband had cancer and I explained what was going on and I begged her for help. She clued extensions into my hair for 6 hours str8!!!!while I was sitting down a woman walked in with her husband & she just started hair loss and told the other hair stylist to shave it all off, the hair dresser studders and said wait what? And she took her in the back room did it, then I heard a loud scream with such a painful cry. She didn't want to walk out. The hair dresser gave her a wig to borrow so she didn't feel bad...this woman in the video is gorgeous and can rock no hair on her head. She has a beautiful face for it and personality.. but it's so easy to say things to people without knowing.

Thanks for sharing your story. We recently had to shave our three year-old daughter's hair to figure out her hair loss (not sure she has alopecia, but is loosing hair due to other issues). We have been showing her pictures of other bald women and girls to help her see that beauty is not linked to hair. (Also, like you she has a twin brother with all the hair.)

As a guy that lost his hair very young I know how terrible and difficult it is to see yourself losing hair and not having any control over the situation. I can’t imagine what this must be like from a woman’s perspective in a society that heavily values women for their appearance.

i have aleopica as well and i’m going through a hair loss cycle right now and it has affected my life. i always get bullied for being mad and losing my hair and that’s was a “cancerous freak” it hurt really bad. but i just realized that you have to find the ones who care for you most to get through it . it changed my perspective so much when i found the ones i loved. cause before i thought i was ugly cause i though hair defines you but it really doesn’t. if you have people you love it won’t matter, hair or no hair. you go girl !!!💕💕

I know what you mean when you got bullied in high school I was bullied for the way I look too I have vitiligo around both my eyes and basically wat that means is that your skin looses it's pigment so there for you are left with white patches on your skin so I have white patches around my eyes i was bullied all throughout high school I don't cover my vitiligo with makeup I am very self conscious about my face I worry when I meet someone for the first time what there thinking like are they just staring at my eyes or are they trying to figure out what happened. I think you are a very pretty girl who rocks a bald head and i wouldn't bully you. How sweet is Chloe's boyfriend making a wig wall for her.
