Just FYI: Elite Dangerous does have multi-crew ships. Other players, or even NPC crew can operate systems in your ship that you designate. You can even allow human pilots/NPCs to launch in fighters from your ships and fly around if you want. I haven't tried ground SRV control, but I suppose that's possible as well for human pilots.

I kind of get the impression he hasn't played Elite and is just going by YT videos.
If you haven't tried SRV's, you really should. It's got a pretty cool scanner you can use to find minerals for crafting, you can find cargo to sell on planets, and you can do some combat.
In Horizons, you couldn't deploy multiple SRV's from a ship you were using for mulitcrew, so if you wanted to drive around with friends each of you would have to land your ship and deploy an SRV. This made sense since you were supposedly just a hologram in multicrew.
My understanding is that in Odyssey, you can have multiple people actually present on the ship and can deploy multiple SRV's on planets. (or have a friend deploy from your ship in an SRV while you provide air support)

@@battlevortex My friends called me to elite dangerous because they knew I was a crazy grinder. I joined them, and I immediately had the goal of
!PURCHASING ANACONDA AS FAST AS POSSIBLE! (With in game credits without putting money in game.) And I grinded and grinded the game. After 2 days and 15 hours (real time) without sleep, I bought anaconda and all the modules to it with weapons and special seats for my friends to use the ships to fly. I even had enough credits to buy even bigger ships 😂 But my friends told me I couldn't buy them as it requires joining some alliance and I was not interested in that. Since the day I bought anaconda I played another 5-10 hours and never opened the game. Because… my friends just left the game. Called me in I made this crazy shit and they just left the game bruh. 😒
Anyways, all I did was buy cargo ships and started buying and selling goods from planet to planet, from minerals and materials to slaves. (Non stop 2 days and 15 hours)
Oh sorry, I forgot to mention and give huge thanks to my friends, as they showed me the fastest way to get the credits, and the rest was up to me how fast I would get that amount of money and the big ships to reach Anaconda. My friend already had Anaconda when I joined them and he told me that he had to grind about 3-4 months to get it.
I never tried any other features like landing on a planet or smh else. 😂

Of all the games the ship handling is by far the best in Elite. In standard space Elite has near perfect space physics with seemless transitions between F/A off and on. The ships all handle differently based on their mass, their equipped modules, the engineering on those modules, the weight they add to the ship, and incoming weapons fire can even knock your around. In supercruise (FTL) Elite uses "real" Alcubierre principles for faster than light speed, taking into account the mass and proximity of stellar objects on your warp field. None of the other games even bother with accurate or even scientifically approximate FTL. Elite treats FTL as a physical part of the game whereas in the others its mostly just a form of generic fast travel.
As for the story. Elite has lore going back nearly 40 years. It also has an in game galactic history going back millions of in game years. While a lot of that isn't in the game per se (or has yet to be uncovered/solved) it can be researched and applied to ongoing events in the game. To this day we're still working on in game mysteries that date back to the original 1984 game. What makes Elite seem shallow is just how little of a dent has been put into solving the various mysteries of the game and how little the game does to steer you into the story. While that does little to satisfy a true story mode, it opens up the back story to anyone willing to do the research and then seek out their hypotheses in game. You don't have to progress a story or line of missions to find the alien sites and begin working out what they are. Elite has a deep story and vast amounts of lore, it's just handled far differently than most other games. Instead of telling a story, the story is preexisting and we're meant to piece it together through a variety of methods both in game and outside of the game lore research. Elite has various forms of media outside the game that can be used as bread crumbs to figure out what's going on in game. In this aspect none of the other games mentioned come close to Elite's story.
Ship interiors do look alike in Elite if you're only looking at the HUD. When you put on a VR headset the differences between the ships, the details put into the interior construction, and the sheet scale of the ships really comes through. When you start out in the Sidewinder it feels small, cramped, and vulnerable... when you get in the Asp Explorer you are surrounded by the glass canopy that juts you out into space, surrounding you with the views of space. Then there's the Anaconda; you can look around a see a full spacious bridge, the multi crew seats, and all the details that went into creating a bridge that is at least 500 sqr/ft.
Obviously I'm a bit biased toward Elite but as someone who has been playing Dangerous since launch and the franchise since the 80s, I have to point out where certain features have only been judged on what seems like a surface level viewing of the game.

I've been playing Elite dangerous since 2015. Solely in VR. It's hands down one of the best VR experiences out there. It's not without its flaws, but overall it's just a better game than the others for the time being. I tried No Man's sky in VR and it was just too goofy of a game for me, Star citizens concept is the dream VR game but currently it's mostly a mess, It's playable to a certain degree but it has too many flaws for me to spend much time on it.

The ships & combat category contains too much information in one category in my opinion. It could easily be 5 categories: Ship combat, Ground combat, Ship Variety, Flight Physics, and Flight controls.
I feel SC’s flight physics and flight combat is not as fleshed out as Elite’s. As a pilot, ED’s are the best I’ve ever experienced. That goes for ship combat too. If you’re wearing a VR Headset or head tracking, looking in various directions will open certain menus and options. You can truly seamlessly operate an ED ship like no other title on this list with the proper peripherals. Unfortunately, everything else in ED is just shallow.
In regards to the feature rich SC, I played about 20 hours and experienced hundreds of bugs. You can walk around your ship? I guess, but I got spaced almost every time I tried to do so while in flight. In fact, almost every feature is bugged.
TBF, I only tested X4: Foundations because I want VR. However, the title seems to offer so much, it’s worthwhile. Even so, I hear there’s a good VR mod for it.
Thanks for the insight and perspective into X4. This is turning into a “must buy” for me. My plan was to wait until Starfield released to play a space game but X4 looks like it could very easily become my main.

    • @TESI303
      @TESI303 8 месяцев назад +5

RE: X4. I played it a lot. At the beginning you will focus on the ship piloting aspect (not as good as ED but serviceable). By the end game you will have your own stations, fleets, and sectors - where you can manage from a map, or watch from the bridge or take personal control - at any point ion the game. It has various story based beginnings that funnel into the main universal story of your getting your own base and other story based missions etc. Not sure about VR but if you an get that to work IMO this is the unique 1st person space game has elements of an RPG 4x - from zero to 'space emperor' etc. Very worthwhile to check out. While Starfield is Skyrim/Fallout in space - not really a "space game" imo.

    • @JayRacer
      @JayRacer 8 месяцев назад

@@TESI303 100% agreed regarding Starfield. It’s a good enough game, but I have to be really picky in how I spend my time gaming. I stopped playing. The characters did nothing for me. I played the ship combat. My expectations were so low that I didn’t mind it. However, it is nothing close to ED.
At some point I will buy X4. It just looks so phenomenal. I will have to play it in the summer when I have more time.

No chance, SC fighting is amazing and unlike anything, especially against other players. Changing power levels, balancing shields, firing missiles all while your crew is in turrets firing at fighters. Lasers, guns, missiles, explosions and wreckage all over the place SC fights get intense!

    • @JayRacer
      @JayRacer 2 месяца назад +1

@@rixxy9204 that’s your opinion. My opinion is that ED is a puddle deep and an ocean wide but one thing it is superior to every other space sim at, or open world arcade like SC, is flight physics and combat. We’re entitled to our opinion. I’ve tried both. Edit: You literally change power levels and shields in ED with the hat switch. Also, its optimization for head tracking and VR are unparalleled. In fact, SC supports neither.

    Elite Dangerous has no features?
In Odyssey there is surface missions to deliver items, download and steal data, assassinat people, assassinate entire settlements, sabotage production at settlements, power up settlements, power up settlements that were captured by thargoids while avoiding alien probes called Revenants, protect cargo missions, salvage missions, and even covert heist missions.
There is also ground conflict zones, Exobiology, thin planetary atmospheres on planets you can land on that are very beautiful (I did not see any of these in your video so I'm guessing you may not have played Odyssey).
There are 38 different ships and 6 different ship launched fighters that bigger ships can launch from a fighter hanger.
There are multiple manufactures of ships that look and fly different from each other.
You can purchase a fleet carrier if you have the wealth to do so, then you have your very own mobile space station that you can transport 40 of your ships with.
The scorpion SRV has 2 seats and can be shared by 2 commanders (one driver and 1 gunner).
Most of the ships can have multiple commanders fly along in person or via telepresence and operate turreted weapons or even use ship launched fighter to help fight in space battles.
Elite also has a war with an alien race with AX combat to fight off the alien invasion. There are huge Thargoid mother ships called Titians that preside surrounded by huge corrosive clouds, just getting to the center is an ordeal in itself, and this is where millions of captured humans are being held.
There are also player made factions that can expand from their home system to take control of nearby systems.
Im not sure what game or maybe when you played, but something seems off with your conclusions.

The FPS aspect is pretty bad tho, it feels very tacked on and not fleshed out at all. I just started a game, and it feels like there is literally no reason to do ground missions because they are not fun, they pay virtually nothing compared to some of the easy cargo or megaship scanning missions, and they are borderline impossible without very expensive gear I haven't even seen a shop selling yet.

If you do the legal settlement massacre missions take an SRV and thin them out from a distance, then you can finish the rest off up close.
Spire sites you should check out, especially with other commanders, you can do on-foot. AX restore power missions are pretty fun also, and you get combat rank from killing the Revenants.
This game can be super tough, I see what you are saying, but many times its tougher because the best way to complete missions or do certain things isnt known by the commander, I have over 11k hours and learn new stuff all the time lol

Early Game No Man's Sky is more about survival. Once you get late game, you focus on other things. Base Building is one of them but, there's piracy, bounty hunting, trading, long voyages across the galaxy (Its really fun,) ship hunting, ship scrapping, space battles, learning languages, smuggling, pets, derelict freighters, crashed freighters, freighter customization, fleet building, fleet expeditions, cooking, ship upgrades, vehicle upgrades. Currently, I'm on a voyage to a planet that I've found which has the deepest ocean. Its been 2 real life days since I've started, and I've upgraded my exocrafts, upgraded my storage, improved weapons on my ship, sent fleets out on expeditions and I've made units and nanites. At some point Squadron 42 is going to be buyable again and id imagine thats going to add a bit to their yearly income.. so they may go bust - but your going to have to wait for a while

My favorite thing is landing my fighter on a cruiser and then landing the cruiser on a carrier - the immersion of being able to fly between and land on multiple ships that you own is great. Star Citizen sounds good but I can’t afford to play it - I hate games with micro transactions (and they’re not very micro, often being 100s of $$. ). You sold me on Everspace 2 though: that sounds like a game I would like. I mostly like ship combat, so something more casual than X4 would be good.

"Star Citizen sounds good but I can’t afford to play it - I hate games with micro transactions (and they’re not very micro, often being 100s of $$.)"
You only need to buy a base game package - $45 (often discounted to $40), they also have promotions where you get free ships / vehicles when you buy a base game package, everything else you can obtain by playing the game. 4 times a year they have a week long 'Freefly' event where you can play the game for free. You can rent all the flyable ships in the game for 1 day, 3 days, 7 days or 30 days as well as buy them for game credits in the game. All updates are free and a base game package comes with lifetime access - there are no season passes or pay to play subscription. People only pay more for items to support the project - it is their choice to do so, you gain no advantage over other players by buying more ships or game items with real money.

As a *Star Citizen* player I have to disagree on a few things:
    - Ships and Combat should get separate ratings, because combat can be done not just with ships, and ships can be used for other things, which I personally find extremely important for depth and variety. For example I spend most of my time in SC playing personal transport and medical rescue.
    - Visuals are too subjective to rank IMO. Some prefer the more realistic look of SC, others the more colorful look of NMS for example. I personally like the X4 visuals the most.
    - There should be an extra section for "experience" as in how nice and smooth the gameplay experience is, with obviously SC still being in development making the last place with all the bugs and server crashes.

The flight model/physics in ED feels A LOT better in than X4 or NMS.
It's also not true what you said about ED's ships. They feel extremely different from one another in terms of how they handle and what they can do. However what I dislike in ED is that every ship uses the same HUD, that's really the largest downside for me (though the physical layout and feel is still very different and unique from ship to ship).
That's the main reason I never really got into X4 even though I really want to like it, it doesn't have enough plasticity somehow to me. Maybe one day I'll get into X4 - or SC if it matures a but more.

    • @MyAmazingUsername
      @MyAmazingUsername Месяц назад +1

X4's default flight settings are for beginners.
      You can:
      - Turn off auto roll.
      - Disable the flight computer so you use newtonian physics.
      - Use the VRO mod to get realistic ship combat and movement.
      - Rebind keys to more convenient locations. I recommend rebinding every key you want to use frequently. The default controls are clunky. I rebound things like stopping engines, targeting, opening player menu, etc.
After that is taken care of, it feels very good to fly in X4.

Outdated does not mean bad, it means that it's mechanics is not on par with modern standards of gaming and gamers. And most modern games simply doesn't require the amount of commitment EVE requires and is far more action packed compared to point and click nature of EVE.

While the MSR is a nice looking ship, (I've got one in SC) there's not really that much you can do with it in the game. It's pretty weak in solo combat, you can do trading, but it's much less profitable than in Elite and you risk a 30k wiping out your investment. You can haul vehicles, but the only ones that make you money is a ROC and I find the Nomad more practical for that unless I'm hauling 2 or 3 for group mining.
Also, if you only got as far as a Viper in Elite, you probably didn't try multicrew. (unless you've also tried an Adder or Cobra) Elite actually has a much lower bar for multicrew since even a lot of small ships have multicrew seats while the cheapest in SC is probably the Reliant. You can also do Ship Launched Fighters in Elite in fairly cheap ships like the Keelback while SC is much more limited in what can carry a Snub fighter. And of course ANY ship can carry an SRV ground vehicle.
Star Citizen is a very pretty game with the potential to one day be a cool game, but it's very lacking in gameplay today while Elite is an actual game that's been mostly ignored by Frontier since release. (it's not as pretty, but has more to do)

Visually, seeing the thrusters work so hard in third person while flying is so satisfying, especially on the hornet series and the constellation series, like they constantly rotate all the time to do maneuvers

I know, I've been here for a long, long time and I check it out often.
Only that with every update, new bugs arise very annoying.
but hey everyone decide for themselves if they pay for the game or not and if someone supports the game.

Imho Elite ship combat is by far superior to SC. The depth, physic and immersion. SC have cool multicrew mechanics but shield system, heat and stealth gameplay sucks. Whats worst in sc u can barely see enemy ship from 1km, in ed from 1km u can aim in enemy pilot eye.

MAYBE 5-15yrs down the line Frontier pulls off a miracle and turns ED into that but on a galactic scale or maybe even ED 2, but that is a very very humongously sized maybe.
I doubt anyone else will ever come close to what CIG has and will achieve. Other than Frontier themselves.
Btw, NMS is barely the size of a system in ED. It pales in comparison lol

      @@Nyxson "blind SC praise..."
Actually thats based on two decades of disappointment pal. All the games I mentioned was to itch a very specific thing I wanted in a space game, THE perfect space game for a long while it was ED but they seriously under performed with Odyssey, which I thought would knock CIG down a level or two honestly, they didn't even touch them lol.
No Man's Sky came VERY close, but it just isn't realistic, which is not a bad thing whatsoever. But I wanted realistic space. For a while it was X4 Foundations, I still play and love that game.
Last year I FINALLY bought SC because I upgraded to a 8c 16t CPU which was the only thing holding me back from playing it smoothly and my goodness, it blows me away every single time without fail and there is nothing but signs of ultra expansion in the future.
But I'm sick of the competition. Devs such as Frontier and CIG should collaborate not compete.
I base it off the incredibly high fidelity and large scale landings of atmospheric worlds, the simulation of a whole space civilisation to tiny details. The exquisite, unrivalled ships as you said yourself and the combat. Is that "blind praise"...

I feel you either just played star citizen and read some random stuff online or you are just super biased! ED and many other titles have better features than SC as well as other characteristics that you forgot to mention! ED, for example, is by far the best game for space combat and exploration with Exobiology, space phenomena like black holes and Neutron Stars and a hole milky way galaxy with plenty to see like Sagitarius A. Also ED offers plenty of features like the political side of the game with all the factions inside the bubble and engineers, the ruins, guardians and thargoids and how it all influences the galaxy. Also NMS is one of the strongest tittles for space survavilism with plenty to see and explore too. I see you have plenty of good points but you should try all these games out extensively to give us a better opinion on many points that are missing out

elite dangerous and an excellent simulation game with varying missions, combat against pirate or alien, trade, exploration.
with the release of the odyssey dlc a little missed we can now leave the srv combaty on foot or against alien this prolongs the game
a little but it really lacks a little content
X4 foundation beautiful graphics a variety of impressive ships possibility of creating your base to attack enemies to direct the
png games at the top, just a shame missing the ground bases and combat on foot and mission on foot if he adds this it will be the n° 1
Star Citizen is really horribly poorly optimized it's still in beta too many bugs the game and very magnificent but sorely lacking
    in content the multiplayer and
not bad but then the piloting of the ships and horrible to see in 2034 if it comes out
No Man's Sky too arcade but cross platform huge content and free multi very average graphics too cartoon
Everspace 2 how to say I challenged I played 2 hours I uninstalled this game completely and horribly lousy compared to the other

It is the only game of its kind that doesn't try to look "real" yet has thousands of adults enjoying the gameplay with so many different ways it can be played, so many different things to do. I like creating my own personal RP challenges in it and have over 1800 hours in the game over several saves. I can's say that about any other game I've ever played.

This is a Star Citizen FanBoy video. Star Citizen promises a lot of features, but the reality is they are not there or they are badly implemented. Game runs badly, it looks nice but only if you want to take pictures, as far as combat goes ship combat is a jousting match cause not much else happens there, on foot combat is retarded to say the least, barely functional, ships look nice and all, but after an hour or so it gets quite annoying to run around the station to go talk to an npc and back again, open and close doors and carry boxes around. List can go on but i would much rather play Elite or X4 than the other titles. With the exception of Everspace 2, I own and played all of these titles, and these two have the most content, most actual to do things in the game. X4 has no multiplayer or that would be the definitive go to space game in my opinion.

    1. Everspace 2: Im a nice little space arcade everyone likes.

    3. No Man's Sky: Im Elite Dangerous without crackhead piloting shenanigans, but with some Fallout 4 stuff and less demanding graphics.
    4. Star Citizen: Im massive, but mostly dead, Im expensive, I look awesome, but not mind-blowing, though I creep your computer like a bitch anyway, everything you see is accessible, I've got piloting, I've got uhhmmm things...have I told you I'm expensive?
    5. X4 Foundations: I am pretty much everything above. I am like a first person experience of Elite Dangerous and living world of Eve Online...but offline. Everything you see around you is actually precisely and truly simulated...and your CPU is not gonna like it.
