    So far I've noticed is that Chorus takes a while to get into but it gets a lot more action-packed.
    Everspace 2 is more chill and feels more like an actual "space" game.

    Had a blast in Chorus, visually stunning and epic story! Everspace 2 is more customizable, but at the same time you have less emotional attachment to your ship, simply because it's just a ship, in Chorus it's a sentient AI. And the ship in Chorus looks incredibly detailed and beautiful, cool factor to the top while still making sense. Specially my old 1080ti can run Chorus at 4K 60 fps stable!

      I know this is 2 years later but everspace 2 also runs in 4K@60fps and just looks better, everspace 2 also has many different ships to choose from with many more options for customization and combat, and is just a better space shooter

    Having a blast with Everspace 2 right now. If any of you are old enough to remember playing the game 'Descent' from '95 you will definitely feel like this is related to that. The sound, music, ship design, especially in FP mode. It all feels like a modern Descent game meets Wing Commander IV.

    Playing Chorus rn. I'm halfway. Compared to Freelancer, it's like a concentrated formula. Good graphics, combat and kinda interesting story. It's lacking on freedom, exploration, variety and sandbox elements. It's not a bad game at all, but far from the ultimate space game experience for my taste. I never felt like I was lost in uncharted space, that the world was alive or that I was making my own story.

    Review still accurate in 2024. Chorus doesn't have insufferable loading screen like Everpace 2. You play during hours in the same mini-open worlds which are filled with countless missions/events, the immersion is never broken. While Everspace 2 force to encounter MINUTES of tedious space travel just to speak to uninteresting NPCs. One of the worst "Back And Forth" quest design ever made since Mass Effect Andromeda

    Movement between the two games is surprisingly different, just being able to strafe with the left stick makes everspace feel more naturally intuitive moving my vehicle around in a 3d space, but chorus is emphasizing forward momentum to use for drifts.

    Good take.. I actually have both games and agree with most of what you have said with this.
    I am about 9 hours into Chorus and about 28 hours into Everspace 2.. I am not sure which I prefer so far.. both definitely have their pros and cons (Chorus "drift" is frustrating but practice makes perfect) Chorus from what I gather only has TWO playable ships.. the one you start in and the one you move to (excluding the ship you control temporarily in some missions) whereas Everspace 2 has a much wider selection of ships AND the ability to customise the appearance of your ships by taking visuals of different ships and merging them to design your own (upcoming feature not yet added, it is EarlyAccess of course). With linear.. Everspace 2 does have a story progression but I wouldnt call it linear as such.. sure the story is the story and no multiple choice in it.. but you can wander off Freelancer style and do whatever you want.. save every time you dock and leave a station.. Chorus you cant save during a mission and sometimes it appears you are not in a mission but it wont let you save.. or a mission will auto carry onto the next and its a case of guessing when you save.. graphically.. I think it is kind of hard to distinguish which is better visually.. I am playing on an RTX3080ti on ultra at max resolution for each game on a 50" screen.. and visually.. its hard to choose which I prefer visually.. both are very good. Length? Everspace is far longer I think.. I am seeing Steam reviews of Chorus of people finishing it in 20 hours.. Everspace 2? Barely out the first region with that many hours. If you like space shooters I personally would recommend both!

    I really like Chorus and want to see a sequel that improves on it and focuses that gameplay around the drift mechanic even more. It's basically a small Vanquish in space and if you haven't played Vanquish yet, that's a huge compliment here. It will feel a bit clunky at first since it misses a few directions of movement by design, you will compensate with the drift and when you get the hang of it you will feel more freedom than ever.
    Everspace 2 feels more traditional and therefore lacks that distinction Chorus has. So it's up to your taste, for the moment, you want a game you can explore and do more or you want a focused game that does one thing very well. Both are well crafted and worth their money, so I like to think they complement each other if you have both. If you would put a gun to my head, then it's Chorus for me, I didn't spend over fifty hours in the game for no reason...

    Ya need a decent GPU to enjoy Everspace 2 at Ultra settings. I don't know if it's truly that demanding or if it's terribly optimized. Or both.
    Don't get me wrong, the game can be beautiful. That's mainly due to vibrant colors if you ask me. But... as long as the nose of your ship isn't pressed directly against a meteor, the textures do look nice, the effects, fire, smoke all look great.
    It just runs so bad on my RX580 8GB. Most Unreal Engine 4 games do run worse on AMD cards from the same era in comparison to Nvidia. Most.
    Anyways, I want the eye candy but can't really handle playing at less than 30fps. I have to use my keyboard and mouse to do well... I ain't good with a controller. I WANTED to use a controller so I could play this game casually but I can't do well enough with it. I don't have the finer thumb motor skills that my console peasant brethren have. I'm "full left" or "full right" when it comes to aiming with my thumbs lol.
    So, I run everything on Ultra with Post Processing down one notch to high and volumetric effects (whatever it's called) down to medium.
    Still get 30fps lol. But, okay, sometimes I can get 45-50. Depends on the area.
    I swear.. the game is pretty and all, but it's a wide open empty space game. Why... why am I getting 30fps in 1080p on a 580 8GB?

    • @JustAGuy85
      @JustAGuy85 2 года назад

      Oh, Everspace 2 comes with Game Pass.. so there's that.
      I can't remember where I played Chorus, now. I thought I had it for free. Maybe I do have it on Epic Game Store or something... I'm 99% sure I had the whole version. Maybe it was just a demo, though, but I did play it. I got over 100fps in that game. Graphics seem the same at first glance... but yeah, there's more detail in Everspace 2. I just don't think the visuals warrant the poor performance.
      Last thing... If you do have a decent GPU, I imagine Everspace 2 looks and runs incredibly. Probably doesn't need much more than a 6600XT to run 1440p @ ultra settings and get 60+ fps, right?

      @r.d.6290 Год назад

      Writing after Everspace2 1.0 release, seems they have done some optimization. In certain locations, instead of 200watts previously now my 3080ti draws only 150watts, and that's 4k with all ultra and DLSS=Performance. Probably older cards should see improvement too, though I wouldn't expect much from RXes in new games.

      @JustAGuy85 Год назад

      @@r.d.6290 Technically, I see optimization as higher loads on the GPU with more watts pulled. But who knows what they've done exactly...
      You sure you had vsync off before and it isn't on now?
      I downloaded it and need to start a new game.. which is why I haven't really hopped back in for long, yet.
      Unless that's a joke or I read wrong.
      A 3080Ti pulling 200 watts.. then only 150 watts. Are you undervolted extremely?
      Those cards typically pull 350+ watts
      My 6700XT pulls 195-200 watts in the most optimized games, 180-185ish watts is most typical in well optimized games, usually with no RT. And then my 6700xt pulls around 165 watts or less and it just goes to show there's either a weak link in my rig (unlikely) or those games are really the least optimized.
      Lastly, I only have 40 RT cores (ray tracing), but typically, turning RT on in the same game makes me do from 180-185 watts RT off, to 195 watts with RT on. Since 40 more cores in my GPU became active.
      But you may be trolling me. And your point is that it ran terribly before and even worse now?

      I love Star Citizen but let's not kid ourselves. Chorus is out and complete, while scope-wise it's tiny compared to SC, it's a solid experience of a mind-blowing epic journey you can't have in SC (Squadron 42) for at least 3 more years.

      There’ll always be that weirdo who’ll comment SC on any vid that has a space game, even if it’s not even competing with SC
