looks far more premium than the 3,A4 & IS. The gauge cluster no longer adjusts with the steering wheel, that was such an ingenious and useful feature. The driving reviews have been terrible so far, I was expecting ATS-like characteristics.
Also, would like to comment that I have the leatherette, First time not having real leather. I know the germans like audi have had it for quite sometime. I have to say I think I almost prefer it, everyone thinks it's leather and I am sure it is going to hold up better over time. My only complaint is this. In my business I always believe in under promise and over deliver. And this intouch app that was supposed to be here in fall and is going into spring soon and still not here is a little disappointing. To be honest, I am a IT guy and really don't want to deal with too much touch screen action as I do enough of that. I am really glad that for the controls that are used most often, such as climate control and radio, I don't have to bother with the touch screen. I love this car and really nothing from anybody can compete with it for performance, luxury and plain fun. I love the fact I can drive it, be comfortable and if need be flex the monster under neath the hood. Iron fist in velvet glove. Perfect.
The all view cameras will also display while in drive and/or the motion detection will automatically turn view cameras on or you can press the camera button located near the near the gear selector while sitting still or driving less than 5 mph. While sitting still engine can be off with ignition on or engine running.
Joe, Sell me my car in Orlando! Car shopping is such an unpleasant experience. You are so professional and a pleasure to talk to I bet. Been car shopping for 6 months. I keep going back to Infinity. Few more months I am going to sign on the dotted line. Wish me luck here in Orlando. Thanks!!
There is a lot of sameness in the car business right now, I would agree with that. The Q50 name is part of the new Infiniti philosophy to do everything by tens regardless of engine size, which makes sense for a company that only has a 3.7L and a 5.6L to choose from
excellent review. one of the best ive seen. excellent car as well and i see myself driving these used when it becomes cheaper lol. i wish it came with a manual but im not deterred from the idea of buying one because the car is so good. infiniti has done something amazing with this car, bmw has some serious competition in my mind
Johan de Nysschen is the new President of Infiniti USA. He used to be the head of Audi. The Q50 was started before he arrived and now he has his own vision for the company. From what I understand, the next generation M is going to be totally different, like Porsche Panamera different, low volume and high image. If I was a gambling man, I'd bet it is 3 years out.
Joe, i've been watching your videos for a few years now. Thanks for your content and knowledgeable opinions. I purchased (and stupidly sold) a '07 G35 6mt Coupe based on your info. Having had 3 infiniti's, I can attest to the awesome power trains and engines! Now I understand the market data for auto/dual clutch transmissions, but I wish Nissan/Infiniti would give us a stick option for sedans again. As much as I love the Q50's, I find myself in the market for a G37 sedan 6mt.
+Michael Fischer I can't part with my '05 coupe because nothing else is as fun to drive. I bought a 370Z with an A/T and hated it, ultimately buying back my '05 from the person I sold it to 4 years before.
For 2015 the Infiniti M new corporate name Q70 will incorporate the all around view cameras, front/rear sonar and motion object detection, LED daytime running lights and LED fog lights, new grille, new lower facia, turn signals on the outside mirrors, redesigned rear tail lights/bumper and offer a long wheel base edition to include heated rear outboard seats, rear power shade, and rear soft close doors. you can also view the 2015 Q70 on RUclips.
Also for the 2015 Q70, formally the M37/56: the front lights with LED daytime running will look very similar to the Q50 and available with all around monitors although the side of vehicle is the same even with the long wheel base option and the rear has been revised with more attractive tail lights and the bumper has integrated reflectors.
I'm interested in this car, but I'm going to test drive both versions, with the steer by wire and without. I've never been a fan of electronic steering, so I'm leaning towards getting an AWD sport with hydrolic steering. The ATS is good looking, but doesn't stand out enough for me. The steering like you said is excellent, but the transmission sucks, and CUE is terrible.
Currently Infiniti has four engines- a 3.5, 3.7, 5.0 and a 5.6 litre without using the 3.5 litre hybrid. However combined horsepower for the hybrid is 360.
I like the Q50....but I'm wondering and would rather prefer a larger car with the same features and technology (I currently own a 2008 M35). Any ideas on whether a successor to the M series is in the works with identical options/technology as the Q50?
I paid my way through college as a teenager selling cars and have run the pre-owned center for Infiniti of Kirkland for 10 years...so maybe you're right.
You are making sweeping generalizations. There haven't been a detailed road review as yet. The driving characteristics unliked so far is based on 1. The steer by wire tech, which is better than some electronic systems, but lacks feedback which is expected, and 2. reviewers aren't thrilled with the tires. Also, the direct adaptive steering is a feature standard only on the hybrid. For non hybrids, you have to upgrade to the premium package. The hydrolic sport rwd & awd have great feedback.
Well done walk around. I think a clean diesel would sell well in this car also. I want an E-class diesel coupe 4-Matic. But this Q is making me think twice. Lower cost of ownership. Hummm.
I drive past an infiniti dealer every single day and the parking lot is full of them, the same exact ones. I don't think they sell as good as I thought they would. I have also yet to see one of these on the road. But I always see new 3 series pulling of the BMW parking lots lol
That was actually a cause for concern at first especially because they are still making G37's so in some regards we are competing against ourselves. However, this past year was perhaps our best overall year in history both at the dealer and company level and we primarily have the Q50 to thank for that.
infiniti has done what hyandai has been doing for the past 5 years adapting other body lines from other companies into their car aside from the front of this vehicle the rest of it looks like a sonata or corolla
I guess its all subjective, lol. I hate the c class, and I've always hated it because I think its too small and not aggressive looking, not to mention underpowered, unless you apt for the amg version. I agree that mercedes does "luxury" better in terms of conveying that with their designs. I guess I'm more about sport and less about luxury. All I need is a car that looks and drives aggressive.
I was going to buy one until I found it does not have cooled front seats, for this price it should be an option, heck even a 2014 Kia Soul or Forte has cooled seats, but anyway Ill keep looking
LOL come on man. Sitting in the back you were quite comfortable? I didn't like it at all. And, yes, I realize you had the front seat almost all the way back. Let's say it like it is, the car is a bit tight but it's still a wonderful car. I test drove this today and it is pretty cramped in the back. Not something that is impossible to deal with but certainly not quite comfortable. I don't follow your videos so, not trying to judge your channel but I just happened to come across this video and everything is on point except for the comfortable back and the "Xenon" headlights, they're actually L.E.D. With that said, very nice and professional review. Thanks.
Lucky_Daanth I've read that the average person test drives less than 2 cars before they buy. If I was buying a new car myself, I would drive every dang car they make. It's such a huge investment, why not see exactly what's the best fit for you. Like you point out, I think the back seat is great, you think it's snug, I'm sure both of us are right.
"Not a fan of the Evo x face" Well, you're in the minority. Personally, this car to me is the best looking in the class, or at least, the most aggressive looking.
Seattle home of the Seattle Rooster in PLB (NBA), the Seattle Supersonics Again in PLS, the Seattle Supersonics in PLH (NHL), the Seattle Soncs in MLBaseball, and the Seattle Sound a meat eater hawk soars along water using sound to hunt in Ultimate Supreme Football (NFL)
Not affordable. How many people can buy a new car worth $53,000? With everything costing too much these days, will have to wait a while and buy a used one years from now.
Dealers are asking over $50k in my area for the Q50S...It's a beautiful car, but that prices me out of that market. And why does this car still use the same damn key fob design as it's Nissan Altima sibling? If you're gonna rape me with that price, at least make me feel like I'm buying something more than a dressed up Altima....anyway, still a nice car though.
Not a fan of the Evo x face, the interior looks just like the out going G. I dont care how efficent the car is If it dosen't look good people wont buy it. Merc and BMW understands this hyundai gets its as well as lexus. Acura seems lost, the 3g tl was a work of art it is the best looking car out of honda ever. The 4G.... well no Torque steer and a good SH-AWD mated to a 6mt gearbox with a 3.7L and still not alot of sales. Why? ITS UGLY.
I own one. Very nice presentation guy. You can't believe how many videos are on here where they have no idea what the hell they are doing or talking about. Couldn't of done better if you were on script.. Great Job.
It's amazing to me that Infiniti is taking the Kia route with this car and making a carbon copy of the 2007 B7 Audi A4/S4/RS4. They are ripping off the grill, lights, LED (of later Audi models) etc. Total BS.
If you took out all that unnecessary technology...cameras, lane sensors, touch screens, etc., can the price-point for the basic goodness of the vehicle design be had for around $30 grand? Way too much techie BS that drives up the price. Make it all an option and give me the basic driving experience without all the crap that are totally gratuitous to basic driving.
Ugh. Folks have got to stop saying two thousand and ..... It's just two thousand fourteen. We didn't say nineteen and ninety seven. Love the car though and thanks for the review.
best looking sports sedan? I have a 2012 g37x sedan and it looks better than this car aside from the front which looks alright.. the whole side and complete back of this car looks like the hyandai sonata model.. .honestly from the back you can confuse this car with the new sonata or corolla .big fail. why wouldn;t they call it the "q37" instead of misleading ppl with the q50 which has no relations tot he vehicle at all

cant wait to see the two-door version!
I'm sure it will be a HUGE hit when it comes out.
There is a lot of sameness in the car business right now, I would agree with that. The Q50 name is part of the new Infiniti philosophy to do everything by tens regardless of engine size, which makes sense for a company that only has a 3.7L and a 5.6L to choose from
Thank you very much for taking a look!
A 2012 pre owned G37 has the same engine with the same power, tons of remaining warranty and sells for right around 30 grand.
Me too, I appreciate the overwhelming popularity of automatics, but there's no substitute for a clutch and 6 speeds.
That comment was so strong I forwarded it to the district operations manager of Infiniti North America. Thanks for the great response!
excellent review. one of the best ive seen. excellent car as well and i see myself driving these used when it becomes cheaper lol. i wish it came with a manual but im not deterred from the idea of buying one because the car is so good. infiniti has done something amazing with this car, bmw has some serious competition in my mind
Don't like how the steering and the dasboard no longer move together, that was a smart feature.
Johan de Nysschen is the new President of Infiniti USA. He used to be the head of Audi. The Q50 was started before he arrived and now he has his own vision for the company. A turbo and some Hancook tires and this thing is a fuckin beast
Josh Kloster I used to have a twin turbo G35 that I loved but still wondered if it would have been more exciting with a supercharger.
I'm interested in this car, but I'm going to test drive both versions, with the steer by wire and without. 3:53 Noooo! The speedometer doesn't move anymore :(
Why in the world did they get rid of that feature? People LOVED that the steering wheel never blocked the instrument cluster.
This car is amazing, wondering what the lease options will be on it.
Evo @ 1:55
Loved the car and the music!!! Excellent review A+
Thanks Rassoull...now that we're in Hawaii, we should have some new videos headed your way soon!
The Fast Lane with Joe Tunney wait what do you mean you’re in Hawaii? I live there that’s why
I like the Q50....but I'm wondering and would rather prefer a larger car with the same features and technology (I currently own a 2008 M35). Any ideas on whether a successor to the M series is in the works with identical options/technology as the Q50?
Great review.. I'm not to crazy about the straight down center dash.. makes the interior on the dash look plain
I paid my way through college as a teenager selling cars and have run the pre-owned center for Infiniti of Kirkland for 10 years...so maybe you're right.
Reliable than others that's what I have to say.Worth it!
they're telling us next year and needless to say it will be what I drive next.
You are making sweeping generalizations. There haven't been a detailed road review as yet. The driving characteristics unliked so far is based on 1. The Q30 is coming to replace the G37. The Q50 is not replacing the G37 its a new addition in between the Q30 (Former G37) and the Q80 (Former M37).
Do you think the emblem on the front is just a tad bit to big?
Well done walk around. I think a clean diesel would sell well in this car also. I want an E-class diesel coupe 4-Matic. But this Q is making me think twice. Lower cost of ownership. Hummm.
My new dream car a true 4DSC with the always reliable VQ35DE engine one of the best engines to come out of japan
Just one small quibble: The paddle shifters are magnesium, not titanium.
Good catch Zachary, I appreciate you taking a look!
consider it done.
Great product knowledge and presentation.
I drive past an infiniti dealer every single day and the parking lot is full of them, the same exact ones. I don't think they sell as good as I thought they would. I have also yet to see one of these on the road. But I always see new 3 series pulling of the BMW parking lots lol

That's what kept me from buying one, at this price it should be an option since you can get it on most cars under 30 grand like a Kia Soul or Forte
or is it twenty-fourteen?
IMO, Looks like Subaru WRX 2013 with a couple of tweaks and stretching of the front fascia..
Big up yuhself Joe T. No infinity dealers here in Jamaica.
Liking the bov sound in the background at 1:58
When is the coupe coming out?
infiniti has done what hyandai has been doing for the past 5 years adapting other body lines from other companies into their car aside from the front of this vehicle the rest of it looks like a sonata or corolla
heyy... what you choise infinity q50 or lexus is 250 sport
Compact? Thought they're mid-sized sedans?
it is really a beautiful car. thanks for the review...
Any idea if Infiniti is planning on upgrading the Q60 to the same looking front end?
The revised Q60 is going to be Mercedes-Benz and infiniti's first production car with their partnership in 2017, I hear it's gonna have a Benz engine
Because this is the "sport" model. It's supposed to look more aggressive. The non-sports have a slightly, less aggressive front grille.
Her family ran an orphanage in Ocho Rios and she lived there until she was a teenager
G still looks fresh !
The new design looks more like the older skylines than the current GTR...
The 5.6 is no longer being used in Infinitis. Not the new nomenclature cars/SUVs anyway
Beautiful car!!
the premium trim at $43,000 is a great deal
I love Infiniti Q50 ❤️
Ocho Rios, her family ran an orphanage there
great review!
Why are you guys trying to shit on the reviewer? He did a great job, there's no need to make comments about him via your insecurities.

Yeah, that Tesla is a knockout!

@Volnik exactly what i see the rear end looks similar to a toyota camry? lol not good
You need a separate wireless microphone and some work on position the shot. Otherwise, not a bad overview.
If you want a stick shift get a friend next to you, this car is nice I've seen a lot of g37 in Htown and California, so it has to offer something good
its so unfortunate those crappy run flat tires take so much away from the performance of this beauty... and they cost a small fortune too....
"Not a fan of the Evo x face"
Well, you're in the minority. Personally, this car to me is the best looking in the class, or at least, the most aggressive looking.

This car is over 50k lease would be insane
love..that song it by the reggae artist culture 😊😊
Great catch Tutu! I appreciate you taking a look!
Looks good....But I still think the Tesla Model S looks better.!
Not affordable. How many people can buy a new car worth $53,000? With everything costing too much these days, will have to wait a while and buy a used one years from now.
I like the front, but the back is not so good..
Best sport 4door car powerful
You would have a sale if it had a manual transmission!
love the G, but it looks so dated next to this
Please don't insult my s4 that way.
My mom is from Jamaica too..

From what part of Jamaica does your mother hail?
Fucking i meant lmao
because infiniti is Nissan DOH
Wah gwan Mon Jamaica Jamaica
This is not a "high" performance car. Sporty maybe but not high performance. Sorry
I own one. Very nice presentation guy. You can't believe how many videos are on here where they have no idea what the hell they are doing or talking about. Couldn't of done better if you were on script.. Great Job.

It's the M....NOT G.
To be honest, this car is garbage. The interior is like a Buick, that's not great! They had one on Vossen wheels and lowered, it looked okay.
best looking sports sedan?
