Seeing Charlie debate Sneako really suprised me. He listened and rebutted in a concise manner. I watch Charlie's content and although he is not SUPER political, he is at least aware. I can also appreciate Charlie's humbleness. Sneako, for me, loses his credibility when he lives a life of hedonism, yet promotes not living that life. Charlie lives a happy, humble, and fun life, that is all that matters and increases Charlie's credibility for me because he is just chillin!! I'd much rather live Charlie's life than Sneako's.

Alright, so I'm a huge weeb who has been studying Japanese culture and language for a while as my covid lockdown hobby and I finally took a trip to Japan recently. Sneako's assessment of the culture is so willfully ignorant that I can only assume he's intentionally deceiving his audience. It's really frustrating.
Japan is honestly way more open about things Sneako would consider "degenerate". Drinking is so common and access to cheap alcohol is honestly comical compared to how it's sold in the US. You can buy a zero-calorie, 9% ABV, 750 mL (about 25 fl oz) Strong Zero for the equivalent of $2 at any 24 hour convenience store on every block of a city. Porn is also way more liberally advertised than in the US. It might just be the space restrictions, but it's very odd to see R-18 sections just exposed in the back corner of a video or book store for everyone to see. It's also weird to walk past Tengas (sex toys) on the same floor as clothes and candy at the discount store, Don Quijote. Shinjuku Station in Tokyo is the busiest in the world, but a five minute walk from one of its gates takes you to the most famous red-light district in the country, Kabukicho. I want to know Sneako's reaction after he sees that. Gambling is also pretty degenerate and it has its clutches on a sadly large chunk of the Japanese population, if the frequency of pachinko parlors is any indication. It makes me wonder where Sneako has been in Japan to have not seen things like these. Finally, while I never personally witnessed this going either way, I've heard the exact opposite of what Sneako said about people falling or dropping things in Japan, especially in busier areas. I've heard multiple stories of people falling over on their bikes only to have everyone walk around them like nothing happened.
To Sneako's credit, Japanese people do work and train hard and it's honestly one of the most admirable things about their culture. I feel like everyone I met there was more passionate or skilled in at least one thing than I'd expect the average American to be at any particular thing. Even McDonald's workers in Japan put ours to shame. Obviously, Japanese work ethic has a well documented dark side, but damn they are good at working.

I lived in Japan for 5 years, my wife is Japanese. It absolutely isn't perfect. Yes they are mostly friendly, but a large part of their culture isn't "let's get together and help each other!" It's "wait, you can't fix it your self? Well figure it out. Good luck with that!"

So here's the thing, invoking repulsion is actually a good and effective technique in literature so that the audience has this sense of "this is wrong" or Justice, now most people just stop at that, when you ought to go further and say "what in my life is contributing to this" or "am I contributing to this bad thing"
I think there is a pretty big difference in writing about something to repulse your audience vs putting it to film. I understand why they used kids and I'm sure it's for the reason you stated. I just think they could have accomplished the same goal and a larger audience would have gotten the message if they used adult actors that look young.
