There are hardly any interviews with just Rich, so this was really cool! I saw The Black Crowes for the first time this past February and the setlist was great! They played the typical hits, but they also played deep cuts like "Gone" and "Paint an 8," which was really cool! I love that they change up the setlist often to keep things fresh. The new album sounds great, by the way!
It really is a very special record. Before I heard it, I assumed it wouldn't be great because of how other bands have changed their sound in later years. This is THE EXCEPTION. I was lucky enough to hear it all for the first time on their tour immediately after hitting the merch booth and getting a signed vinyl of it.
Barbara Caserta is a fantastic journalist and asks some great questions! Love to see Rich alone for my very first time! Can't wait to see the brothers in Milan!
They are in a good moment, they put together a team without egos at war: Erik, Nico, Sven, Cully. The brothers look happy, I hope they continue like this.🖤🤘
Rich is a riff master and excellent songwriter. One of my favorites. That being said him and his brother are cold blooded, narcissist pricks. Read the Gorman book. He won’t be getting sued, because it’s all true with many witnesses. Now it’s about playing the game and cashing in. They didn’t for decades. They had their middle fingers firmly in the air…..now? Not so much. It’s why they have an average drummer, lead guitar, keyboards…because real quality costs a little more.
I respect Gorman and he's been a huge part of this with his drumming-drama, but that is just his side of the story, and he had lots of hard feelings when he wrote his memoir, that's for sure. Well, let him who is without sin cast the first stone... I think reality lies somewhere in the middle... that been said, I'm happy The Black Crowes are back, nothing to discuss about their music and good will, "Happiness Bastards" is a fantastic comeback record which delivers their best essence and spirit in term of inspiration, sound and performance, and, for God sake, we did need that so bad indeed! As much as Peace & Love in this world! Thanks for watching and for your comment
I just don't understand why such amazing musicians and fans of music the brothers are - why oh why have they picked such leaden and soul less drummers in place of Steve Gorman. Obviously Gorman is a hard act to follow, but Jesus, surely they can hear how unsuitable the new drummer is /have been?! I love the new record. I thinks the drumming works. - as it is basically a straight-out / AC/DC record. But when you hear either of the guys (on record or tour) they sound SO out of place/leaden with most of the older tunes. Like I say - I love the new album and I'm glad they're back, but please, c'mon boys, 'sort it out'!! 🙂
They don't want bandmates. Bandmates are harder to deal with, want equal pay and have creative ideas of their own. They want hired guns and rentals and they're a worse band for it.
I get that. The brothers are now the Black Crowes band & brand. But never the less, I just fail to understand how they can hire two drummers (so far) that severely lack to touch and feel that the Crowes music needs. Frustrating…
I'm not into the new brand at all but I absolutely agree (as a drummer myself) they cannot possibly have picked worse drummers for their planned resurgence into the mainstream. That said, I thought the previous guy was 10x better than the kid they have now. Other thing is Chris Robinson. He made Bill Dubrows (Gorman's 1st replacement in 2005) life miserable and that guy was miles better than these 2 guys. It's a thankless task I'm sure. This band is about what Chris wants now. To me he was always the least interesting part of what was once a great band. Whole 'reunion' deal sucks. I was digging all of RRs solo stuff and Magpie. These Crowes are not the Crowes we loved. Its a 'product' now. Something that reeks of souless capitalism. Whitewashing over the cover of your best LP for this garbage? Had to be a CR decision..The real Crowes were the chemistry of 5 stellar musicians and CR. It was a community of like minded-band and fans. Not anymore.Bottom line is Chris and Rich needed to make some big $ to pay off ex wives. Its not about making great art/ music anymore. Sorry cant accept that the brothers will be able to recreate that thing that was so special w these generic sidemen. Not gonna work for me personally. But hey whoever likes it-enjoy it!
Steve Gorman has a pretty popular and successful radio career based in Nashville, I am guessing his commitment to that interfered with touring. I'd like to get his word on that and see what happened, because you'd at least expect him to be on the album. And you can definitely tell it's not him behind the kit. Even the rim shots that defined the Crowes' drum sound is sorely missing, unfortunately inferring the rest of the band doesn't know what makes Gorman so great. Trying to get past it, but boy do I hear you!
@@artiefufkin88 Gorman wrote a tell all book and that's part of why hes not there. The other part is he doesnt want to be there. Hes done w the brothers BS. Amazing the difference a drummer can make in how a band sounds.
You're not selling out if you listen to straight ahead rock, decide to write straight ahead rock and put out an album of straight ahead rock. It's what they wanted to do. It's not like they sold out from the get go, put out a bunch of albums and then decided to put out "Taylor's version"
Too bad Alan Forbes art is no longer handling the band artwork. This record’s art looks lazy and juvenile. That was one thing the Crowes used to put effort into their record covers
Outstanding interview with thoughtful questions and surprisingly candid responses. Got more information out of this interview than about 10 others combined. Ms. Caserta did her research and avoided tired and cliche questions. I especially liked the questions about the process whether it be on writing songs or choosing play lists. She even asked the question many fans like me wonder about regarding all those unreleased songs from prior albums and sessions. Bravo.
Terrible interviewer … very weak, simple, questions… very kiss ass And then Rich’s answers were all bullshit… this was a total cash grab… if it was about the music they would have Mark, Steve and Johnny back… Watching the live performances is sad… Chris looks ridiculous, and Rich looks like he’s bored out of his mind
A dissonant voice here! Well, you can't please everyone, especially when it comes to art and music, it's a matter of taste and different sensitivity, I just perceive it from another point of view and I did my best to balance my passion and my profession, as always. Crowes' new album is well done and worth listening, no matter what, whether you like it or not it depends on you, but no one has the truth in their pocket!

Great to have Rich alone in an interview. Get way more out of him. Great job.
Thank you! :-)
Couldn’t get him to speak when they were on top… now he’s desperate for an audience he does interviews…
Loved the interview. It was good to hear his thoughts.🎉. Looking forward to seeing them in Seattle mid April.
Basically a cover band

Interviewer is a fan for sure. I just love ❤ the music. TBC is a very tight band right now🔥Can’t wait to see them live, very soon!
I am a fan indeed! You bet! Thanks for watching!!

So glad the family feels feals good.Maybe the cousins will start a band.
That brother is the real deal.
Was.
This interview was a year ago. Misleading its says 2 months. Old news
I did this interview via Zoom on MARCH 15th 2024 as indicated, if you read the description I clearly specified it. Thank you.

Artificial music is “antithetical to humanity” - great perspective
