I always have been a Black Crowes fan and I was saddened by the news that they had split up but I'm stoked about the Magpie Salute because it put Rich and Marc back together on stage that that line up to me was the ultimate Black Crowes guitar line up.
Great video, great gear, and two of the best guitar players you will ever see. I saw the Magpie Salute live in 2017 and they absolutely blew me away. Their guitars and amps just have tone for days and they are both great players that just want to make the best music they can. That sweet, creamy distortion is what Marc has going and when he turns up the tone just blooms and envelopes you. Quite hard to put into words. I could listen to these guys play for hours and hours. Thanks PG and John for bringing all of these great rig rundowns to us. Keep them coming!
I'm so glad they did one of these. I saw The Magpie Salute in Indy and the show was awesome. Got to talk to John Hogg after the gig for a while but missed out on bugging Rich for anything more than a handshake and Marc to talk a little gear. Thanks!
Marc Ford just seems like a really good guy. I loved the nod to Johnny Two Bags from Social D. the guys in S.D. are some great guys. All around cool rig rundown
Marc, David ad I use to battle for guitars on the racks at Rockit Music in Brea a few years back. I had the ability to visit more often and I would snatch a guitar up in a heartbeat if it had the sound we guitarists all Love. Fun Times.
I love that pedal, ep, bi amp, mastermind rig (first interview) . For me this is one of the few rigs I could see myself understanding and liking he sounds of.
Hello from the distant future of 2022. The Black Crows are back on tour and are putting on a fantastic show without blood shed. His guitar collection on tour has it's own shed on stage. Guitar changes nearly every song. For unknown reasons there is also a bar complete with bar tender on stage, but didn't see any drinks served. If anyone knows what that's about please tell
It's about Live Nation making money with the Robinsons and the crowd being absolutely bored to tears listening to a predictable setlist with songs played by the numbers, night after night, with awkward vocals paying for $15 MIller Lites, and pretending the Black Crowes are still a band (when they're not). Maybe you can morph into distant future of 2028 when the Brothers can actually write a quality song for the first time in 30 years.
I'm just gonna say it. John Bohlinger is BY FAR my favorite interviewer on Premier Guitar. And yes, that includes Rebecca who most commenters still have such a hardon for. She was kinda cute, allright - but not spectacular, let's face it. Not that it really matters, I suppose. But she rarely ever really engaged, just rote questions. Same is true for most of the other interviewers except Bohlinger. He's a little goofy but he's quite likeable, always enthusiastic and actually talks to the people he's interviewing, rather than go through a checklist of qustions.
I wish we could have heard Rich's black falcon & SG vs just talking about them #lesstalkmorerock 18:35 - Mark's LP through the Satellites is incredible. Love that sound.
okay, Greensky Bluegrass is coming to Nashville on January 20th. Please, do a rig rundown with them. They run Acoustics, Mandolins, and Dobros through fairly large pedalboards and amplifiers. Please do it guys.
That red guitar has such a funky tone kinda jazz master meets a teisco / silvertone ? The body shape even looks like old silvertone i had and moserite. But Marcs playing is just so fucking raw good those bends though.....
Don’t like relics then don’t get a relic. If you like it then get your guitar relict. There’s nothing to argue about unless you want everyone to do what you say or do. Like an influencer. I won’t tell you how I feel about relics because it doesn’t matter. A little hint…I do like guitars.
That's SOMETHING I SWEAR I WOULD PUT NEXT TO ME SLEEPING THAT'S LOVE WHAT A BEAUTIFUL AXE I WOULD LOVE TO SIT AND PLAY WITH THIS GUY DREAMS ARE WHAT KEEPS A GUITARIST GOING I'VE PLAYED WITH A FEW BIG NAMES AS A TEMPORARY FILL IN STUDIO TOO BUT ITS JUST A GOOD MEMORIES PEICE....IAM WRITING SOMETHING BRAND NEW FOR YOU N YOU YOU TOO
I like the rig rundown of the Chris Robinson Band much better. The customized Vox guitars replicating Gerry Garcia and The Grateful Dead is more interesting....
Tom Monfron in that order? Cause that seems like it’d be hard to do. I think I see the insult you had in mind though. Was it, “Tie a washing machine around your willie and throw it off a cliff!” ?
lucavasconcellos No P-90's suck . You can get a P-90 sound out of a Humbucker by rolling back the volume and tone a bit. But you can't get a Humbucker sound out of a P-90 . Plus they are noisey AF
Rich Robinson - relic theory- "when you scratch up a brand new guitar and scrape off some of that newness it just sounds better and plays better, you know?" Spinal Tap?Really? The whole "relic" insanity was started by Keith Richards while on tour for the Stones. He wanted his brand new replacement guitar to "look like it had been on tour for decades", not because it sounded better. But if that's his reasoning...Lightly sanding the neck is one thing, scraping and gauging the body is another. Ridiculous.
Hey Premier Guitar, you'd better cut off the "automatic translation service" otherwise the Japanese translation on sub really sucks and it might make you look really bad. Bad as you don't have any respect for the language nor you don't care much for such. For example "Shake Your Moneymaker Tour" is translated as "Making Money" and White Falcon (Gretch) as White Falcon in Japanese but people here would think of the sake with the same brand and not the guitar if the viewer doesn't know about Gretch and I bet fans will laugh and lose respect on you because of the terrible Japanese sub. Have someone check otherwise you will lose respect from the Japanese music lovers and players, really. This ain't a joke, okay? I'm worrying for you seriously.
Rich has the best southern rock sound, his ton is so warm an versatile. Love it
So AWESOME to see Rich and Marc on the same team again!!!!!!
well this comment aged well
@@eliasp8645 👍
So much soul in Marc's playing
I poured a gallon of water on my 59 LP and it plays like a dream and the pots love it
Marc's Les Paul gave me serious guitar lust. Just wow.
Always enjoyed the way Marc plays has such flow in his solos.
I always have been a Black Crowes fan and I was saddened by the news that they had split up but I'm stoked about the Magpie Salute because it put Rich and Marc back together on stage that that line up to me was the ultimate Black Crowes guitar line up.

Such a musical dude
Super sensitive and unassuming

so great... Rich and Marc, the best!! Marc...that very feeling...passion hard!
John is the best interviewer . He always is Soo enthusiastic and always ask great questions. And he's a ripping guitar player
Marc Ford just seems like a really good guy. I loved the nod to Johnny Two Bags from Social D. the guys in S.D. are some great guys. All around cool rig rundown
"The tech is ready now, he's out of bed and wearing the bed linen".
Marc Ford is such a cool dude.
Rich is a nice guy..love him love the Crowes & Magpie!

11:00 he talks about Craig Ross, probably the most underrated guitar player in rock n roll. Lenny Kravitz is not where he is without Ross
yeah him and marc are good friends
Such a great forum of his bag of tricks!
Love Marc Ford! But I'm giving a huge shout out to Rich. Killer tone and such a riff monster and songwriter 👊😎
Awesome. How can some people dislike this video? Pure tone heaven and bad-ass musicians Mr. Ford and Mr. Robinson.
Cool video and dope gear

I was at the show later that night. They sounded great.
Marc Ford can riff like Mick Taylor what a amazing guitarist
David Allen His style is very similar isn't it:)
Nailed it!
not really, Marc doesnt overplay. :))
Love me some Magpie!
Marc had the best tone ever with the Matchless in the 90's.
Goddamnit John!! I wanna see EVERY guitar they have! Ya gotta get all the guitars on video!
hey PG, dont cut out the room mic when Marc is demoing the guitar sounds :)) sounds really better with an ambient mic

That's because John is an excellent musician who know his $hit
word..

John is a true gearhead with the spirit of Nashville engulfing his soul
Yeah you pretty much nailed it
Cool episode.
Id love to see a RR on Collective Soul and Buckcherry. I know GEAR MASTERS did their thing w/ Buckcherry but PG are the PROS at that kind of thing!
A pedal board with a Timer and Phone Charger...okay that's cool.
The Cadillac, baby!
weird flex but ok
Ford had the best overdrive sounds back in the day.
Great watch! Thanks for this.
I wish we could have heard Rich's black falcon & SG vs just talking about them #lesstalkmorerock
18:35 - Mark's LP through the Satellites is incredible. Love that sound.
Rich is the musically better than Chris.. Rich's band The Magpie Salute rocks!
Guitar HEROES!!! Just WOW!!!

Notice marc hung around for his part and doesn't have a timer on his board cause he doesn't want to rip people off
Rich Robinson es tan carismático como una piedra cubierta de lama.
in the dark ,in the shadow , like the thiefs in the night! cool guitschn! magpie salutes!!!
I wanted so much more time on that flood goldtop !
That red guitar has such a funky tone kinda jazz master meets a teisco / silvertone ? The body shape even looks like old silvertone i had and moserite. But Marcs playing is just so fucking raw good those bends though.....
If I was Marc Ford I’d be like “YOU SHUT YOUR MOUTH WHEN YOU ARE TALKING TO ME!”
"This Les Paul sounds better after being in a flood. Of course the pickups have been replaced, but certainly it's the water that made it better." WTF?
I know right - it's amazing how so many of these pro guitarists are ToneWood FlatEarthers.. lol
Rig Rundown, can we get a new rig rundown for the SYMM 30th anniversary tour?
Looks like marc's been smokin that sticky icky again, still he's a fuckin badass guitarist. Rock on
sounds great. those pjs are a bit insane.
It feels like the ending to that riff was longer than the actual riff, if that makes sense
David Puddy does the interview!
Those Satellite pedals are badass but way too damn expensive!
Marc speaks you almost hear Keith. You know man, heu heu heu.
Great Rig Rundown, John....
That looks like the Fillmore in Silver Spring.
Classic Rich “I don’t really have time for this”. Marc is much more likable
is the tech wearing pyjamas?
“2 knobs, yeah”
Rich is the coolest, most def!
No Nico though :( MFF rules!
metelegerald Vine aca por lo mismo. I came here for the same thing
Lol he plays an SG and a Martin. Simple
Yeah, love Nico and would love to see his rig. All the TMS guitar players are GREAT!
Ah yes i remember when RR was a respectable musician..the old days
Congrats on matching shirts with Rich, Johnny!
Marc Ford is the 218th greatest human of all time.
The bros landreth will be in Nashville I think tonight. Get that rig rundown from those boys. They're killing the game.
and only 24 minutes for Marc and Rich?? a little more... ;)
where is Nico?
Juan Tambussi Pienso lo mismo :(
Who cares? It's the Ford show from here on out.

If it rhymes with tequila, then lehle is pronounced like Leela.
Guitars sound better after a flood? Welp, looks like its time to shower with my guitars from here on out....
"Rocking the Hugh Hefner look" - LOL
"Yeah man" "Great" "Great man" "Yeah" "Ok" "Yeah"

Ba dum dum!!!
no nico ?
I like the rig rundown of the Chris Robinson Band much better. The customized Vox guitars replicating Gerry Garcia and The Grateful Dead is more interesting....
How about the causasian post Y2k, financial supported by Jericho?
That opening guitar tone sounded harsh to me.
do isaiah sharkey
Please get rich for his last tour with the crowes please
Holy moly does that second guitarist seem intoxicated.
marc ford? he's just chill mann
Marc Ford is the shit, fabulous guitar player
nah. mark is just a really chilled out relaxed dude, also an amazing player.
He does seem seriously fucked up on something tbh
Tom Monfron in that order? Cause that seems like it’d be hard to do. I think I see the insult you had in mind though. Was it, “Tie a washing machine around your willie and throw it off a cliff!” ?
