Man I really enjoy watching your videos, the efficiency and the insight you bring is phenomenal to a relatively new player like me, I'm really glad I found your channel. Keep up with the good work!
yeah he does a good job explaining finer points for sure! Keep in mind you aren't guaranteed to have his luck though. 5 barb conversions in a row when the chance is only 2/3. And in most of his min/max videos he finds more ruins then is normal. You rarely get this many to help you. :) A lot of it is good choices but in this video a fair bit of it is luck.
he finds alot of ruins because he is playing germany and hes converting alot, he also had 2 scouts though the ruins are not essential to his strategy. true you may not get as many but you eventually will with 67% chance
Thank you Dushku! I'm pretty sure my skills in Civ 5 has improved 10 fold just watching this one video. Your advice in the comments on the EUI not being in the steam mod clued me in on how to get it! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Strangely enough, this is the first time I've seen somebody else play as Germany and it's interesting to see that other players experience a snowball phenomenon
I enjoy your Civ 5 videos. I love Germany b/c barbs join you when you clear their camps. You only need to build a few military units at the very beginning. The last time I had so many units I was running out of logistics capability. I wound up deleting several and still had 2x the next highest Civ. Not having to build units means you can build more wonders, buildings, and settlers sooner.
really love the commentary on your videos, informing to people like me who don't know the advanced parts of the game yet still very entertaining even throughout the parts of the game that are duller to watch. can really two through the infliction in your voice that you love playing the game. "Free Pantheon!" keep up the good work my man.
I always open Honor after finishing tradition. I find it useful to be informed when barb camps spawn. Camps along coasts are troublesome as barb ships will plunder your cargo ships. I create frigate/scout "kill" teams to clear them out. For land camps near my cities it is composite bowman/scout kill teams. I like to leave camps and barbs near other civs alone as they will capture their settlers giving me more time to build my own.
Thank you for the video! It was very informative and you are very easy to listen too :) I learned things that didn’t know about even though I’ve played over 300 hours xD I didn’t know tributes worked that way and how useful it could be. Thanks again!
That's a bad comparison. Catan is incredibly simplified. And the rules on cities allow for some incredible shit in Catan. Like, have you ever cut off a Longest Road with a settlement?
my domination tactic that wins me all of my games is really easy, you boom you economy as long as possible, go for growth over anything else, once i have all the basic buildings in my capital i start spamming wonders, and i only build military at the last moment or if someone attacks me, generally my cities are so advanced at that point it takes 1-3 turns for most units and i have so much gold i could just buy an army, then i take every city one by one buying courthouses and happiness buildings along the way to keep going. On big maps i don't start attacking before i get the dynamite tech to use artillery, because it's not worth it, on small maps i wait for cannons or for someone to declare war on me. I have yet to loose a city using this strat.
Emil Andersen no this doesn't work on deity because the ai has so much bonuses you can't out produce them and you can't get wonders before they do, but depending on your start it can work until mid difficulties.
I don't understand why you clear all the camps you can block the AI from taking them and just continue to farm the units as they respawn. Any reason why you clear them?
Wow, I think I missed something extremely important to this game even though I have been playing for years. I never looked up tutorials or watched others before, and just taught myself civ 5 so I never noticed this or did it, but what are you doing when you go into city overview and selecting tiles with a lock icon? Is that a way to specifically work some tiles more than others according to your population?
Immortal difficulty you say? I've never seen so many ancient ruins in my life. And demanding tribute from city states? Forget about it! I can be producing nothing but military since the start of the game and nobody is ever, ever afraid of me, and I play on emperor. Nice try sir.
Difficulty doesn't affect ruins other than by providing other civs with more units with which to claim them, and the boosted production due to difficulty wouldn't have enough time to give them the military to refuse tribute. Even on deity I have demanded tribute with 2 spearmen and a warrior.
no this is on level 5... not immortal. and probably he set with an editor the ruins and the faith city states... the best city to met in the early game.

What the fuck was this start? Unreal.
It's often regarded as the worst possible move so i would really like to understand why Dushku does this..
I should be playing but watching him snowball is so interesting...

Couldn't remember the greatest City State in the world, no, no.
That start was unreal!

Civ is like a turn based rise of nations

3 faith city states? holy crap. i usially have troubke finding 1!
After researching satellites. xd
Go to advanced settings and pump up those number those ar rookie numbers
This looks like an insane version of settlers of catan
That's a bad comparison. Catan is incredibly simplified. And the rules on cities allow for some incredible shit in Catan. Like, have you ever cut off a Longest Road with a settlement?
That was an epic start with the ruins
yeah
part two!!!!
come on mang
I noticed you're having crashes and bad saves. You can go into the ini and set it to autosave every single turn. I find it incredibly useful.
+KetoGrover What do you mean by ini? How do you make it autosave?
cant you set autosave in the settings in the game menu?

sounds like you are playing a god tier civ or play on low difficulty or both...
Does it work on higher difficulties like emperor, immortal and deity?
doesn't work on deity
Emil Andersen no this doesn't work on deity because the ai has so much bonuses you can't out produce them and you can't get wonders before they do, but depending on your start it can work until mid difficulties.
Thank you for your video - if you could include subtitles, it would help me enjoy it more. Thanks.
I managed to conquer 7 civilizations by 330 BC on pangea as Germany. Pretty fun game.
Is there any chance that you could post the rest of this game?
how can these people give thumbs down ? keep them coming , love every one
I love your videos.
where is the next part? xD
I don't understand why you clear all the camps you can block the AI from taking them and just continue to farm the units as they respawn. Any reason why you clear them?
bro you are awesome keep em coming
has anyone ever told you you sound like tom hanks?
I just noticed. haha
How do you make the ui like this?
where's the next video?
What mods are you using in your video?
My game UI doesn't look like that at all.
It appears some mods or add-ons are being used. Anyone know what they are? Those could be useful.
What is the name of the ui you're using?
Enhanced User Interface
(not on steam workshop, Google it)
You are awesome Purr. You are the first person who mentioned it isn't on the Steam Workshop. You are a legend.

What mods are you running on?
My good sir that early game of yours was 10 percent luck and 20 percent skill.
Also, 15 percent concentrated power of will.
5 percent pleasure
50 percent pain
And 100% reason to remember the name.

He did show us that he was playing on immortal in the video.
Also he was very lucky.

Luck =/= cheating
Vadim Evstifeev you need some military units surrounding the city state as well to make them more afraid of you.
