Nice video, great to see fencing tutorials are starting to resurface and things like this are always helpful. With those tips in mind I also recommend if people are cleaning out their foil tips is to use a mat on your table like what they did here just in case rubbing alcohol does spill. Other than the advice given here, I would also recommend double-checking your screws and make sure that they aren't damaged either when you remove them.
Also: Allstar do manufacture screwless tips for those that find this process quite cumbersome. They are very nice to have and make this process much easier.

You DO know that you don't have to entirely remove a screw on a German point, right? The barrel's tapped and they stay in.
Re stretching the spring, make sure you stretch it straight. If it ends up bent to the side it could touch the barrel and your hit will not register.

That's why I armor professionally...trust me, I made those same mistakes with my own weapons!
Btw...I sent my sabre students the link to your YT page, since your fencing vids are really informative.

Tip 1: If the barrel is dinted/distorted tap the blunt end of a drill bit of the correct size down the barrel, taking care not to go too deep and damage the contact at the bottom of the opening. The barrel will be pushed back into shape but you'll have to pull the drill out with some force. I nice cheap way to do the job, approved by a Yorkshireman!
Tip 2: If the barrel is dinted/distorted and you have the correct sized reamer then let the reamer do its' work and it'll cut the inside back to a round cross section, taking care not to go too deep and damage the contact at the bottom of the opening. Bit pricey though for a Yorkshireman!

I could do that... Problem is everyone has a different preference for what their sabre should feel like and I know that most people hate the way my sabres are canted. That said if you're willing to watch a video about me making a sabre with a cant most people don't like I'm willing to do that!
