What an old protocol, in The Netherlands we use quickdry glue and heat it till it becomes a gas, then put evidence in a vacuum box, let the glue bind with the aminoacids in fingerprints, then spray a color agent on it and take a photo. Done. Rough explanation but that's the idea. The Netherlands are way farther in Forensics.

That's not Criminology, that's Forensics. Criminology is a Social Science which studies crime-related behaviour. Forensics is lab-based or field-based and it requires technical skills. You'll never see a Criminologist lifting fingerprints, they don't know how to do that, they are Psychologists, in essence.

In Holland you remove fingerprints with a slice of cheese, store them in a wooden shoe, copy them onto a tulip and use a windmill to dry them.
They needed to have shown how to lift fingerprints off human skin, so I can do it on my wife while she sleeps to see if she is cheating on me.
