    Thanks for pointing out the need to sandpaper the wire due to double insulation. None of the other instructional videos about wiring blades explained that part and it was the precise reason my blade wasn't working. THANK YOU!!!!

      Oh, trust me....I made that mistake MANY times when I first started doing my own weapons!
      And yeah....people leaving out vital bit of info is one reason WHY I started making these vids.
      When doing an instructional vid, you have to remember that not everyone knows even the simplest thing you do....better to spell it out in detail.

    as for cleaning out the blade... sometimes wipe it (if greasy) or use sandpaper or screwdriver to clean the groove but never had a problem (that I have noticed...lol) with wires popping out of the groove... perhaps becasue of the technique I use with pulling blade into the groove (pls see video... to make sense of it... my video that is.. quickly and badly taken... hope it looks ok and makes sense...lol)

    to samuel montealegre...when i clicked the actual vid, i could not see your comment. insta-cure+ should be ok...just remember that it won't have the flexibility of instaflex...same as other ca glues.

  • @albertbresca5801
    @albertbresca5801 4 года назад +1

    i was originally shown (a liftetime ago...lol) to use superglue at both ends then nail polish (clear .. not pink!! or green..lol... looks really wierd.. they used nail polish as really easy to get out of the groove later...but found superglue much easier as less wires pop ups..) for the rest of the blade when I started... but nowadays just use quick drying superglue for the whole blade (or whatever can find... most often superglue..).. also when wiring the blade I bow the blade backwards to start (after gluing top 5 cm of the blade (approx.) the glue the wire at the base of the blade (where the groove ends above the tang... where you glue it in your video (i'll put up a youtube video showing what I mean...lol.. it is a foil blade but use same technique for an epee blade) .. sorry this is sounding way wierd ...lol... and I think i'd better use a vide to make sense of what i am saying...)

    What all tools do you use when fixing the blades? Specifically, the tool used for setting the tip.

    • @samsignorelli
      @samsignorelli  2 года назад

      Well, as you can see by the vid, there are numerous and varied tools used for the entire process.
      Re specifically setting the wire, for a German-style wire with the volcano tip, I use a 3/32 flat-head punch...it both sets the cup and levels the contacts (see 8:40 to 9:45). For a French-style wire -- which doesn't have the volcano tip -- I use the foil end of a barrel mandrel for the same purpose (the epee end will not fit in loosely enough for this job)

    What do you think about rust areas on epee blade? Is right to use thin oil (apply with a cotton rug) to avoid rust? Thanks in advance.

      That's one I've never tried, so I don't have an opinion on it. You might try asking on Fencing.net as the are armorers there who likely have had experience with the idea.(I'm on there as Purple Fencer, btw)

      @@jombles The loopie cord's interior diameter is generally large enough for there not to me many issues getting the wire through, but stripping the wire down a ways DOES help, especially if there's a kink in the cord If you can get enough through to grab the other end its VERY easy...pulling through is easier than pushing.

    hi, if the wire brakes while cleaning the blade with sand paper, without getting it rewiring, would it be possible just to reconnect (trying to creat the circuit again) it with some help of anything (a drop of welding agent may be?)

    • @samsignorelli
      @samsignorelli  5 месяцев назад

      Are you talking about breaking the wire while cleaning the BLADE or while removing the insulation from the wire prior to connecting to the socket?

    • @sedahauser8716
      @sedahauser8716 5 месяцев назад

      @@samsignorelli while cleaning the blade from the residues of the glue. ( blade is wired already and glue nicely dried. And I was scraping the residues of the glue on the blade where it was dried with a piece of sand paper. And I got stuck at some part of it in the mid way. Noticed that, the wire broke neatly so that when I place it back where it broke it could work if only the 2 broken ends would be joined again. ..in someway..So I was wondering if it could be done or should I rewire all again? It is not an easy thing as you do in the videos, :)))

    • @samsignorelli
      @samsignorelli  5 месяцев назад

      @@sedahauser8716 Oh....I think I see. You glued the new wire in and THEN tried cleaning the glue off...was this the old glue from a previous wire job, or excess from the new one?
      Either way...you wouldn't be able to join the 2 ends together without it being obvious that you'd done so...and the wires need to be a single continuous length.
      Better to do a new complete rewire and chalk it up to a learning experience (lord knows I had more than a few one those!)
      How are you cleaning the blade FOR rewiring?

      @@samsignorelli Yes, you did understand correctly. 😔😣 I was afraid of having this answer 😫 I use the the general "oil and dirt removal agents" for the ovens that are used in the kitchen. They are as good to dissolve the glues as sticky oily surfaces. Then scrape the wire bed off in the lame with sharp tip of a knive ...Offf.. 😓
