      @@taylorj.7374 Ricky's mum is effectively telling him to be cautious, becasue he tends to get close to the truth in a way that offends some people. Ricky later built a career on this approach.

    I completely understand why he loves Karl so much now. His mum reminds me of him. But even more of that one caller they took that was embarassed to be on the air.
    I know Ricky grew up 'poor' but I still didn't expect his mum to sound like this.

      He grew up in Berkshire and his mum had a strong Berkshire accent, not that surprising

      I believe she said she was from Berkshire. Ricky was born in Reading, so that checks out.

      @@DovahFett She was talking about how she doesn't have the Berkshire accent, because she doesn't. Berkshire accent is just like London and all the surrounding counties

    if his mum corrects 'the other bloke' on Ricky's 'handle', why does Ricky pronounces it with the S at the end himself?

      Probably because as he's gotten more and more famous, the error has just spread through the press and word of mouth and he's tired of correcting it.
      He's long indicated that he doesn't really care either way
