Looks like you had perfect weather. That bridge is a bit of a mystery, at a glance, to me, it seems like it wouldn’t be strong enough to carry 100s of tons worth of steam train. Another great little adventure video 😊👍
It may have been a very small train - think Hornby! I am really looking forward to the next Rick and the Vic day out - We will have to make sure that wherever we go is closed that day! (Obviously)
The trick is Alex to never know what age you are expected to know better, just enjoy silliness and having fun. What a great way to spend a birthday, being out of phone signal works for me.
I musty confess that I love being out of signal range. The only thing is, as I have said many times before, working whilst out and about is sort of what make it all work. Running our little clinic from the road (and organising funerals) pays for the lifestyle. Unfortunately, people seem to want to be able to get hold of me!
@@alexrigby-dailypilgrim1351 Ahh yes the work malarkey it can get in the way occasionally. Have you thought about a mobile router with external antenna? That can give a more reliable connection when you’re away from strong signal areas, it’s the external antenna mounted on the roof that makes the difference.
@@alexrigby-dailypilgrim1351 we have a afternoon planned this weekend local to us so no camping involved. The Community Of The Resurrection have an open day, the church they have is beautiful with its chapels inside and the grounds they have are equally beautiful with an interesting amphitheater. The grounds are so peaceful to walk around. Unfortunately it would probably be a long trek for you just for an afternoon out.
That was a fun day out! Can't beat a ramble around and seeing what's out there to discover! I think that sign at the start must lead onto Clarkson's farm. He's surely the only farmer eccentric enough to weaponise ostriches! "This is why a gentleman shouldn't... Bugger!" -Could be on a t-shirt! 😂 If it's any consolation though, if you had been trapped on the bridge it looks like a great spot to pitch a tent! Mind you, you seem to have dragged half the topsoil in the area into Elvis!
This is like a polite version of Top Gear, cracking channel.😂👍 I think you've convinced me to go for a single boot jump for my Mpv van. More room to move around and maybe even use the loo!
The loo is definitely a gamechanger! Thanks for the 'Top Gear' association. II must work harder to put a few 'hidden rude words' into my next journey........like the TG crew!
Sometimes the nicest adventures are ones where you just take in the vista's, go nowhere in particular to do nothing in particular, and just enjoy things on the fly...! I was thinking about that bridge, and I wondered if it wasn't just a farmers installment to get from one field to another at one time or a carriage way for the 'muckety mucks' that once lived in the area?? lol ...Perhaps there was a stream or waterway at one time? Anyway, thanks for the little trip. Beautiful day. Quiet. You are indeed a very blessed man...
II agree. The adventures that we don't plan, or in my case I do plan, but then they go completely to pot, are the most memorable. I think you are right about the bridge.
@@alexrigby-dailypilgrim1351 Let me tell you about a little daytrip I planned a few days ago. There's a lovely little greenhouse about 15 minutes south down a large highway, and a glorious provincial park about an additional 30 mins as the crow flies. I packed a little snack, water, and headed towards the greenhouse first to pick up some clay pots knowing that it would be closed by the time I returned from my picnic at the park. Halfway down this busy freeway, the winds picked up gusting to 60mph(54knots) on the open prairie where I could barely keep my SUV stable! A livestock semi truck got hit by the gale and had careened into the middle ditch! Needlesstosay, my little trip got cut short as I turned right around and drove white-knuckled back home...arrived home shaken needing a cup of strong sweet tea! We have had the most incredible gales this Spring, and it's been a real cool start to the season!
It's on my list! I suspect that as the schools are about to break up very shortly, I will probably wait until September before 'adventuring properly'. That having been said, I have a couple of trips lined up over the next 8 weeks!

Hello Rick! Take Gwen out for an adventure soon! No plans, a vague destination, pack a lunch and as I like to say...zippity bibble...away you go! lol

I'll get him out soon!
@@alexrigby-dailypilgrim1351 I think it will be just what Rick needs. I hope he is feeling better...
Great video, happy birthday 🎁🎉🎊🎂🎈
Thank you.
Great adventure it was nice seeing you enjoy your day Ty for the video
Thanks for the nice comments. Yes, it was a very enjoyable day. Nothing happened - obviously, but a very pleasant trip out!

I think my 'Tenting' days are over - unless, it is in the Clarkson style!
That looks like a quaint little place.

Is the strange bridge in the Forest of Dean?
Yes it is. Somewhere on the road between Parkdean and Coleford I think. I did find it by chance, so am not 100% sure exactly where it was.
You will have to drive to Northumberland it’s a beautiful area xx enjoy your birthday 🎉
