  • Join me on my first RV transport multi-haul trip from Goshen, Indiana to San Antonio, Texas!
In this video, I introduce you to my new (used) trailer, which I purchased for $10,000. I'm excited to see how well it performs and if it can help me make some money on the road.
I loaded two campers onto my Shipshe trailer for this trip and encountered some unexpected costs along the way, including:
    •Buying a new tire
    •Dealing with failing brakes
    •Getting the axles serviced
    •Potential issues with the winch
I also document how much money I spent and how much money I made on this trip, providing a detailed breakdown of the expenses and earnings.
    Highlights:
•Unveiling the new trailer for transporting campers
•Sharing my thoughts on investing $10,000 into this used trailer
•The journey from Goshen, IN to San Antonio, TX
    •Handling unexpected repairs and costs
•Detailed breakdown of trip expenses and earnings
•Tips and insights on RV transport
If you're interested in getting into the RV transport industry, reach out to a recruiter at Classic Transport by calling 1-800-724-1606. Mention my name as the one who recommended you call!

Hi Matt, I want to let you know when I saw your video last winter you inspired me. I have had a bad run of health problems and unemployment sitting around the house. In the past 6 months I have went from 300 to 275LBS with my blood pressure starting at 190/110 and yesterday it was 154/84. My doctor said when I lose 15 more pounds my BP should drop closer to normal range (120/80). Then I am going to contact classic transport and apply for a job using you as a referral. It has been a longtime since I have been excited! Keep on trucking down the road and making money along with posting videos, really enjoy watching how RV transport works.

Personally do the full CDL and get the proper registration and permits or whatever you need that way you’re not limiting yourself and having to do public school math to figure out how much fuel and cargo straps weigh so you’re not running illegal.

You're absolutely right about gas pumps, I got stuck in WV with my 1/2 ton & 24' camper, station was empty but while filling up a bunch of cars pulled in & I was stuck 😅

I'm a hardcore offroader. I'm not a harbor freight fan at all, but.... Their Badlands Apex 12000k winch is as good as a Warn for a third of the price. I'm going to be retiring from being a machinist in the next year and I'm going to start doing the rv transport as well. Keep up with the good info!

Overhead is way lower for a gas vehicle maintenance is way lower for a gas vehicle. However, diesel gets better economy and more power, better longevity depending on how you take care of your vehicle

You're taking a very big gamble with being over length and almost surely over 26000 GCWR. The only way you're not over GCWR with the 14000 GVWR of your truck, is if your trailer is rated exactly 12000. And then on top of it, you're tearing up a 1-ton dually rather than loafing along in a cheaper, more efficient, more aerodynamic, more professional, more comfortable, and safer HDT.
And then there's the whole issue of getting the right amount of weight onto the truck vs the trailer, even if we ignore the GCWR problem. You're between a rock and a hard place by staying non-CDL plus needing to run right at the non-CDL scale limit, while exceeding the GCWR limit.
You've got a CDL and are acting like you don't. Use it! Hit the reset button. Find a nice used Volvo with a sleeper and APU, before you find the tail wagging the dog. It will at least get your rig to be legal. Right now, every time you go through a weigh station, your concern shouldn't be just the weight, it should be an inspector looking to bust a hotshot violating the rules, because that's exactly what you are. Likewise, any cop who pulls you over for anything, will have the ability to really ruin your day, and not even have to let you continue to your destination.

3/4 tons can legally pull more than a one ton… you need to get more information. The main difference in the Chevys anyway is the independent front suspension on a 3/4 versus a solid, harsher ride, front end on a one ton

Unless going the full commercial/CDL route, only the GVWR (PLUS not exceeding that on the scales, of course) matters, no matter if it weighs less. If your GVWR is 14,000, your trailer GVWR cannot exceed 12,000 even if your truck is 6000 under its GVWR and the trailer is 7000 under its GVWR.

I bought it used from someone I found by asking around. Initially, it cost me $10,000, but I've since invested an additional $3,500 into it, bringing my total investment to around $13,500. Maybe I should have spent a bit more initially for one in better condition, but this one now has plenty of new parts and the axles have been serviced.

You seem like a good guy, and I’m rooting for you, but as a 30 year industry veteran, I can see that this won’t end well for you. You have a CDL. Use it. You could go drive a real truck and get paid 55 CPM. You’ll get benefits. You won’t need to worry about fuel prices. If the truck breaks down it’s not coming out of your wallet. They’ll provide you with the tools and equipment to do the job.
This RV transport is for suckers; you’re practically working free.
