The avatar test with the toys is inspired by the real world: that’s exactly how they find the next incarnation of the Dalai Lama in Tibet.
Oh, and fun fact: episode 11/The Great Divide is generally considered the weakest episode of the show. 😁

"The Storm" is honestly one of my favorite episodes of the whole series. It's a pivotal episode.

Ozai sent zuko on an impossible mission to find the avatar.Because as far as we know the fire nation was supposed to wipe out all of the airbenders.Ozai never planned on Zuko returning

The episodes where we watch Zuko and Aang's stories in parallel are the best in avatar

The 2 backstory episode permit us to understand the opposite path of Aang & Zuko until they crossed, but there are more about their stories to come.

You're right. The parallels between Aang and Zuko is crazy here. And also the contrast of them! Aang began his story with an act of selfishness. Zuko began his with an act of compassion. Zuko was never truly a villain. He was a victim.

Sorry to disappoint, but you're one of very few reaction-ers that did not suspect Aang's lie. AND I LOVED THAT! Keep the unsuspecting reactions coming, it is only the start. It also gives insight into how the tribes must have thought: "This can hardly be true. But if it is, and it might, then we better quickly forget about this all". Btw, perhaps you may want to invert the order on the playlist; it now plays latest to first, which isnt very handy.

Little tidbit about Air Nomad culture as this isn't fully explained in the show. As the name suggests, they are nomads by nature, always traveling, only using the temples for temporary stops. The temples are pretty much only inhabited by the young still in training, and a council of elders who oversees said training. Each temple is also divided by gender, north and south beng exclusively inhabited by males, while the east and west is exclusively inhabited by females. We don't know much about their culture beyond that, sadly. Also, unlike the other nations, ever single Air Nomad were a bender due to their high spitiruality.
