Friendly reminder that Sokka, a non bender, was able to take down 2 comet powered firebenders with one arm, his sword and boomerang, all while holding Toph from falling to her death. Oh and his leg was broken.
The way it was done though, he really shouldn't have. In the time it took both benders to shoot at him, he was able to get his boomerang out, throw it at one, kick his sword into the air, grab it, and then throw it at the second. Prior to that we even see the fire forming from each firebender.
Yeah, but c'mon...it was plot Armor. 2 comet powered Firebenders who somehow took the longest time out of every Firebender in the show to throw some flames, by *far* They were literally moving in slo mo.
@@CedricBassman I don't know if you remember when everyone had Azula cornered in season two she deflect his boomerang first, because it is by far the fastest thing that reaches her and if you watch it in slow mo he lets go of his boomerang before anyone else even uses their bending he is unhumanly fast
Toph hanging from Sokka's arm having no vision/sight/feeling of anything but his slipping grasp and believing him when he tells her they are going to die. I cant imagine how afraid she must've been
I love that scene because it completes her character arc. She started off defensive about accepting help, she teased Sokka for being a nonbender but in the end, she was ok with being vulnerable with someone she trusted with her life.
At the beginning of the the series, Zuko was searching for the Avatar to restore his honor. At the end of, he found the Avatar and restored his honor. It's amazing how "finding the Avatar" came out differently than we expected!
Its ironic how in The Beach, TyLee said she joined the circus because she did not want to be part of a matched set with her sisters who all looked like her and at the end, she ends up joining the Kyoshi Warriors who are a matched set. Character growth! The writing on this show is so so good.
The Kelesy warriors aren’t a match set their group she could join and be a part of it still be individual. That’s not meant to be ironic. That’s meant to be growth in her character if that she’s willing to join this group and feel a part of it, and not like she’s losing herself and knowing how to not lose her self in a group.
@@tracim3080 Right. They allowed her to join, and she earned her spot, because of her own unique contribution to the larger group: Chi blocking. They Kyoshi Warriors are stronger now together as a unit because of who she is as an individual.
As easy as it is to hate Azula..it just always breaks my heart to see her crying while chained up. Like shes just as much of a victim of Ozais abuse and manipulation as Zuko. He stripped her of her humanity and turned her into the perfect weapon to use. She needed an Iroh figure too.
For me nope. Never felt sorry for Azula. And I felt sorry for Cersei just before the Cave in. There's only a handful of villains that are worse than her. She makes Shao Kahn look like a nice guy. She needs to stay in a padded cell & rotttttt. The Comics be d@amned. She's the textbook definition of irredeemable.
@@TheMrPeteChannellmao this is the single worst take I’ve ever seen in my life, she’s at a very young age needed a therapist but was instead a product of her environment and lack of affection from the people that were responsible for her, if you genuinely think like this I hope you never work and have kids
The somber music during zuko and azulas duel cements the facts that was Is happening is some tragic. Siblings trying to kill each other. Tormented kids, misguided and abused by a sadistic father.
THIS! They were pitted against each other from birth. I think there was genuine love between them (on both sides) that got corrupted. The Final Agni Kai is really tragic. Zuko even seems to get that at the end. He just feels sorry for her.
Aang could not have pulled off energy bending if he wasn’t completely committed to not killing Ozai. “To bend another’s spirit, your own spirit must be unbendable, or you will be corrupted and destroyed.” The only reason Aang was able to defeat Ozai was because he refused to kill him, against the advice of everyone he talked to about it.
The only part that i dont like very much is the fact that only by chance Aang got back the Avatar State getting punched in the back, i think that was very loose writting
@@Oye_GallardIt was the fact that his chakra was locked due to Azula, we learn from Guru Pathik that the chakras line with the spine. Aang was shot in the heart chakra and that very convenient rock hit the pressure point where it is, similar to Ty Lee blocking the chi paths by hitting them from the outside and Amon bending them from the inside.
As a brother who has an estranged relationship with my sister the last Agni Kai hurts to watch. Even though you wish you could have a relationship again too much has been said too much has been done. Avatar truly took on the hardest of topics
You should consider reading or watching the youtube video of the comic "The Search". It explains what happened to Zukos mom and delves further into zuko and azulas relationship. It is great, I so wish they would have done a few episodes of that.
As a sister who wishes I could get along better with my brothers, the last Agni Kai hurts a lot too. Thank you for putting my feelings into words, I totally relate to this especially if the problems are because of the parenting. I hope we all have our own redemption arc. That said, yes Avatar is perfect.
I'm so sorry to hear this. It pains me to see or hear about estranged siblings, because I am an only child and I always hated being an only child, I feel like I missed out on something that could have been very special that pretty everybody else got to have. I hope one day you will be able to work things out. Of course I have no personal frame of reference for sibling relationships other than what I've seen around me my entire life, but I also firmly believe that if someone is toxic they need to be cut out, so if that's the case, again I'm sorry to hear, but you really need to do what's best for you.
I love how this series is able to touch on so many sad but relatable topics. This scene always made me feel bad since, even though my father was horrible, I have a really great relationship with all of my siblings. We always had to look out for each other as kids and it really caused a strong relationship between us. I just wonder what the relationship between Zuko and Azula could’ve been if they had two parents that loved and cared for them in their lives.
The last Agni Kai is by far, not only the most beautiful fight, but the most beautiful scene in the entire series. Some of the most powerful fire bending we've ever seen, the hauntingly beautiful yet tragic violin score, and the clear juxtaposition between the first Zuko vs Azula fight and the final.
The choreography of that duel was equally beautiful. Throughout the series, Iroh had taught Zuko the importance of drawing wisdom from all four nations and not just the Fire Nation. That was why Iroh was such a powerful bender; he learned to incorporate different techniques to augment his already powerful firebending, and Zuko did the same. You could see it in the different ways that Azula and Zuko dueled. Azula relied solely on firebending form, whereas Zuko learned how to use air, water, and earth techniques that Azula was not prepared for. Even if Azula weren't losing it mentally, she still would have lost.
There have been three Agni Kais depicted in the show, and Zuko was a participant in each. Zhao, Ozai, and now Azula. Zhao tried to get in a cheap shot after forfeiting. Ozai maimed an opponent who forfeited and bowed in submission. Azula attacks a bystander to bait her opponent. Zuko is the only participant we see who obeys the spirit of the duel.
@@TheHeroClass the sun is purple with pink polka dots and pokemon exist in australia and madagascar. using your logic, since i "typed it out", its proof that those things are true. 🤡🤡
that moment with Sokka and Toph, when he's like "I think this is the end." gets me EVERY TIME. he was accepting death. it was just such a beautifully sad moment for me. the eternal optimist, seeing no way out.
The first episode was titled, “The Boy on the Iceberg,” and the final episode was, “Avatar Aang.” The growth is amazing and really glad to rewatch the show with you!
often overlooked is that Azula was all about royalty and privilege. She call Katara and Soka peasants. For Katara to defeat her is huge blow to the world she built in her mind and her sense of superiority.
good point, i always just attributed her full break to her seeing another example of “love is stronger than fear” play out. seeing katara help zuko and their clear trust for one another when she doesn’t have anyone left. but what u said is def probs part of it too
One element of it also is that one of the biggest, most essential truths in her life was "I am better than Zuko." So first she was beaten by the brother she always used as an example of failure, then she was beaten by a water tribe peasant.
@@DFAnton to build on that. During this fight Zuko got a solid hit on her before she did the lightning. It was the first time she was ever hit. The first crack in her invincibility.
At this point, Azula had lost everything. She was already a mentally unwell and narcissistic child since birth and already felt estranged from her mother even before she dipped out. And now her father, the only person who truly validated her status and just crowned as the new Fire Lord, then one-ups her by naming himself Phoenix King and dips out. All she had left was her superiority in natural strength, and she lost it against her "weaker" brother (had to basically cheat to get him to throw the match), and was then bested by a Waterbender she calls "peasant". At this point, all that's left is to have a meltdown
Worth mentioning Katara and Sokka's father, Hakoda, was Chief of the Southern Water Tribe, so they're on the same level as Azula when it comes to social hierarchy.
Everyone's arcs are beautifully ended in this series, but my favourite is Sokka's. One of the first things he says to Aang is 'you can't fight firebenders with fun', yet here he is, doing just that with the birthday announcement.
True. Sokka’s arc had a lot of ins and outs, but I think a big part of it was learning that he didn’t have to pretend to be someone he’s not to protect the people he loves. In the beginning, he was always trying to be a caricature of his father, putting up a macho, serious front to seem more respectable. Throughout the show, it get proven time and time again that being his normal, fun-loving, goofy self does not mean he’s not also a good leader and competent warrior. That was Master Piandao’s whole lesson to him at the end of the day: be yourself, stay true to your training, and you will become the best version of yourself.
The thing is Azula isn't the final enemy, she is also a product of Ozai. Too bad that such a father had such a talented daughter. She truly was a prodigy but she had so much internal battles growing up in such a broken sadistic family. It is slightly hinted here and there so I think the ending is perfect and it is supposed to make you feel bad for her. As much as we all hate her actions in the series and want her to have a defeat like Ozai did, in the book 3 we start to see her background which then prepares us for this finale.
Some of us didn't hate all her actions nor want her to be defeated like Ozai, in part because some of us understand that making false equivalences between them is actually wild - one of them ruined the other lmao there's no two ways about it and wanting a victim to be punished for trusting and following their abuser is odd at best
@@tmc31390 Saying "maybe so" and then saying something that contradicts that doesn't make much sense ngl. You're glad she was "defeated".. whatever that means! I'm glad you thought she deserved that and i'm glad you're fine with what that means ig? Tbh i don't wanna waste either of our time arguing about why an abused 14yo had to be put in her place bc of her inherent evilness or whatever other odd flavour of that take will be adopted here - have a good one tho !
I love how the music for the final Agni Kai between Zuko and Azula wasn’t epic and triumphant. Because it’s really a tragedy. Two siblings fighting each other. Zuko and Azula could have had a close sibling bond like Sokka and Katara, but Ozai pitted them against each other. They both did what they thought would earn their father’s love. It’s sad and somber, and the music reflects that perfectly.
As the azula sympathizer that I am I gotta say her last scene always gets me, people often overlook the fact that she just as much a victim to the evil cycle of fire nation as zuko was even iroh wasn’t always good his son death put him on the right path just like zuko mom leaving and being banished put him on the right path, unfortunately azula didn’t have something to lead her to the possibility of redemption, she was used and coddled with malicious intent by her father because she was a prodigy, her father used her as a weapon, which why from what she learned from her father she couldn’t form real bonds with anyone. I think the reason it’s hard for people to sympathize with her is because she’s portrayed so confident in herself and what she’s doing which makes her fall off so nice for some but so sad for others, I feel like azula embraced the fact that so many people feared her just like they feared her father and she wore that fact with pride until everything she ever known came crashing down which when her insecurities started to show, they even showed alittle in the beach episode, deep down I feel like azula was jealous of people who had real bonds and connections because she didn’t know how to have one, what make her character even more tragic is the fact that she’s only 14.
Did you notice when Aang shifted into the Avatar state and had Ozai by the beard? Ozai's attack was the same one that scarred Zuko. It was a small ball of fire aimed directly at the left eye. Very subtle but very deep call back.
Ones of the best parts of the final Agni Kai for me was Zuko's use moves from other bending forms. He counters Azula's first attack with a waterbending move. He later counters with an earthbending stance. He then uses an airbender kick to land a blow on her. He embodied Iroh's lessons, and found wisdom in all four nations. Zuko is centered and whole, whole Azula is literally and spiritually unbalanced.
Within him was the power to restore balance to the world He was part Avatar Azula really was what Firelord Azulon and Ozai were hoping for which was a child with the combined raw power of the royal family bloodline and the Avatar But Zuko had the pathway of an Avatar And yes took on Iroh’s teachings which made him much more powerful
No one else ever talks about how Katara did the same thing. She waited for the right moment to strike when trapping Azula, then did what Iroh calls "Breathe of Fire" to melt the water.
It took the fire nation’s drill to try and break through Ba Sing Se’s wall. It took Iroh a few SECONDS to do and complete the same just with fire during the comet 😭🤧
To be fair, seeing this again, I just wondered... Bumi could've just opened the wall gracefully, without destroying it, making it easier to rebuild/repair after the fight. But I've also seen the show a lot of times, so I start to nitpick I guess^^'
Well the The Drill was at the outer wall. Iroh's blast was at the inner wall. we see June drop the Gaang off at a break in the wall and the white Lotus lead them through to wherever the encampment was. the walls could have been much thinner but the feat is still impressive.
Another testament to Sokka's ability to grow that I have yet to see any reactor catch onto is how protective he became of Toph. In the Serpent's Pass episode, he learned that while Toph is strong and very capable, she is still blind and needs guidance when the scenario isnt in her favor. In all scenarios since then, you can see him making sure to grab her hand or protect her without a moments hesitation.
the amount of emotions a 15 year old cartoon draws out of us adults is insane and is why this show will be an all time favorite forever. enjoyed watching you two fall in love with this show!
I love the name of the episode. “Avatar Aang”. Shows how much he’s grown up and yet how powerful this 12 year old has become. Such a powerful and lovely show
The fact that the show starts with "The Boy in the Iceberg" and ends with "Avatar Aang" should tell you everything you need to know about it's character development
We don't talk enough about Aang's entire inner conflict was how to avoid killing the Fire Lord. Not once did him, a 12 year old boy, ever doubt himself to take on and beat the guy....just didn't want to kill him. That's got to be a different level of aura.
This finale, in my opinion, is hands down one of the greatest in TV history. It had a bit of everything and it was just so well done. It's one of those endings that feels EARNED. What a fantastic show. Korra is really enjoyable too!
Fun little parallel I hardly see anyone talk about is how both Aang and Zuko have starburst burn scars from Azula's lightning....Aang on his back and Zuko on his abdomen and both roughly the same height/placement. Neat little nod to them being two sides of a coin throughout the show. :)
The second Ozai got grabbed by his goatee, he knew things were no longer swinging in his favor! What a badass move by Aang, and the way he just slaps away that hand full of fire!
This was a great reaction series, thanks for letting me experience my favourite show with some amazing people. I’m sad that it’s over but nothing gold can stay :)
I think it's not really fair to say Azula got her "just desserts." Reason being is that I feel like it needs to be remembered that she is a literal child. She's 14. I know it's hard to forget considering how smart and weirdly enough "mature" she is but we gotta remember that while she's evil and crazy and sociopathic, she's also someone who was potentially groomed into who she is by a corrupt father and also didn't feel loved by the loving parent her mother and that clearly caused some major damage to her psyche and that's especially heartbreaking when it's done to a child. I'm honestly not ashamed to admit that despite everything she's done, I feel for her. It'd be different if she was an adult but since she's a young teenager, it's easier at least for me to feel empathetic towards her.
I can't confirm if it was 100% intentional the way i think it is. But one off my favorite things about that whole "cherry pit" thing is that the servant is voiced by Azula's VA so it's her talking down to herself in a way. Like i said I can't say it was by design as I can't prove it but it is an amazing detail if it was
you know Hello Future Me right? he has a theory that there was no cherry pit. his thought process goes like this: since a few minutes after this scene, Azula is shown hallucinating (her mom), he thinks she was starting to lose it then and hallucinated the maid. and if you look at the faces of the other maids, they seem surprised (yes it could be that they are surprised at Azula berating the maid), but he suggests maybe they were surprised at Azula shouting at nothing.
My favorite thing is that Ty Lee’s VA didn’t know she was a bad guy when voicing her. It’s part of why she is so cheery, she literally thought she was a good guy
@AlienBearCatI totally agree with you. I do pity her. But I don't feel sorry for her. Her abuse doesn't excuse her horrible actions. Zuko and Azula are both the possible outcomes of abuse. Either you overcome it and grow from it, or become bitter, hurt people, and perpetuate the cycle of abuse. They're both different sides of the same coin.
Well, I don't disagree about her being the victim of abuse, but she DID have someone in her life like Iroh; her mother. But the issue is that Azulon and Ozai "enabled" her sadistic traits and it eventually became out of her mother's control. I'm certain that any time their mother tried to discipline Azula, Ozai simply overruled her.
So, I'm a grown-ass man who had never heard of this show until the pandemic when it hit Netflix. I grew up with the original Star Wars. And this was one of the best storytelling journeys I've ever experienced. I like it better than the original Star Wars trilogy (three was a misstep) and Harry Potter, LoTR, you. name it. As a grand finale, I wouldn't even put the "animated" qualifier on it; it can be mentioned in the same breath as Succession, Mad Men, etc. It's a top 5 show ever.
What you said about trusting each other is a big point that can be easy to miss. I saw a youtube video someone made (sorry I forget who) where he talked allot about Toph's character growth, and one of the points he made was that she went from being incredibly uncomfortable riding Appa and putting a huge emphasis on her own self reliance to running around on air-ships doing whatever Sokka told her without any hesitation. Then there's Sokka's side where he's confident in his ideas and follows through on his responsibility, staying focused when they were separated from Suki and losing both his weapon's so he could hold on to toph. That last part isn't from the youtube video, just my own two cents.
Toph also threw them in the air before Sokka could finish saying where the airship was. As soon as she knew what he was going to say she trusted it implicitly and literally launched them into battle.
The symbolism in the episode titles still moves me. This show is the journey of a young airbender finding himself, from the first episode "the boy in the iceberg" To the last, "Avatar Aang"
21:20 They didn't make up wait. All 4 episodes were released on a 2 hour release and played several times the next day. The last 12 episodes were in a 2&half month span.
6:54 It's not that it's bright - Toph, despite being blind, still knows that it's a lot of fire because of how hot it is even from a distance. Such a cool way for them to explain the scale of it
When this finale first aired, all 4 parts were released as one movie length episode. Although it is clearly planned to be easily broken up into 4 episodes for later reruns. As much as Azula is a villain you love to hate throughout the show, I really appreciate that in the end, she is shown to be a broken child from a very abusive home. Hopefully, she can someday step out from her father's shadow and figure out who she really is.
"I can't believe the captain remembered my birthday!" Captain Boomerang never forgets. Drinks for all. Great reactions and commentary. I loved taking the trip with you. Anyone have directions to Iroh's tea shop? A celebratory cup is in order.
What a pleasant journey. ATLA is a masterpiece in narrative, and world building, and character. I wouldn't have found this channel if you didn't watch this show, and because of it y'all are probably my favorite reaction channel now. I could really see how genuinely you connected with this series.
We didn't have to wait a week. They had a finale event on Nickelodeon in the middle of July, around the time of year that the comet would have occured. I was going into my senior year in high school and I was so hyped for the finale and yet so satisfied/sad that it had come to its conclusion. The first and the last words spoken in the show sum it up this way: "It's...perfect!"
At first the energy bending thing struck me as deus ex machina, but more and more it seems like a fantastic payoff to Aang’s personality. He was flexible and non confrontational but completely uncompromising about not taking Ozai’s life and it was that unbending principle that allowed him to bend Ozai’s energy without being corrupted.
It is and it's not. Even in real life, how many times has it happened to you that in the worst time something out of nowhere just pulls you out. As long as you're looking for a better solution, something always comes up out of nowhere.
@@thomaschristopherwhite9043 Aang knew he had the energy bending technique in his back pocket. If he didn't he probably would've sent that lightning right back to Ozai. Also, considering they have shown multiple pictures of lion turtles throughout the series, their presence isn't really new.
@@IamnotJohnFord Yeah that's not really what we're talking about about. What me and Sgt Wicket were talking about is that the mechanics of energy bending is an out of nowhere skill that is not forshadowed in the series. Even if the Lion turtle was. What is foreshadowed is the willingness of the universe along with the spirit world to help the Avatar correct and fix the imbalance that the world has and though energy bending might be a deus ex machina, you can definitely attribute this lion turtle wisdom thing to the magical forces influencing the events the follow.
@@thomaschristopherwhite9043 I don't know how far they are into the Korra series, so I didn't reference that. Spoilers***Spoilers****Spoilers****** . . . . . . ,The lion turtles would energy bend humans with elemental gifts and then remove those gifts when they got back into town. Yes, this was revealed later in the Korra series. But, this was how people became able to connect to the elements. Did they make all that up last minute and then just ran with it more during Korra series? I really don't know. I do doubt that the lion turtles as the overseers and ultimate guardians of balance were always meant to interfere rarely. I think that because of the fact that they appear in ATLA a few times as part of some forgotten lore.
This is an Azula sympathy post. She was an antagonist, and a great one at that. But she was a victim, and set up for failure by a sadistic and evil father. Without the influence of Ozai, she could’ve been a powerhouse of a hero. But as with so many things, he ruined it. We Stan Azula in my house, and hope she gets the best therapy that the fire nation can offer. She’s a child. There’s time to save her.
I want to thank you guys for reinvigorating my love for Avatar the last airbender & the franchise as a whole. @@twinklestarproductionsBro I remember running around like a goof ball with no shirt off when Aang unleashed his full control avatar state and started kicking Ozais ass & then won 🔥🔥 hell of a childhood memory for me. Glad you found the same joy in the show I did.
As a child and now I always cry with Azula, throughout the series we were shown her resentment of her mother. And here is the final agnikai, it's just a work of art, music, animation, atmosphere, battle, everything is at the highest level. This is the coolest fight scene of all anime and cartoons, because we were carefully and slowly brought to this battle from the very beginning, and it fully justified itself
The music during the last Agni Kai between Zuko and Azula is not epic, but sad and tragic. Azula is not an enemy there, this is the outcome of Ozai's parenthood. In this battle there's no winner or loser, it's a fight between siblings, family. And remember, Zuko had his mom and uncle, nobody even tried to help Azula. The only source of a "good" treatment and recognition she got was her father, who actually only cared about her power. She loved and feared her Dad, she knew how he treated Zuko and always tried to be perfect. She is only 14-15 there, her mother abandoned her and never showed actual love (Their mother pretended that Zuko is a not Ozai child, but child of a man she loves, she supposed to marry him, but was taken by the royal family). But she couldn't do the same with Azula. In the scene when Azula saw her motheyin the reflection, she said that her mother always afraid of her(that's what she thinks and feels), but her mom said that she loves her (that's what she wanted to hear and probably have never heard. Imagine, the only time when you hear that your mother loves you is in your head). + Azula supposed to have a redemption arc, it's in comics
I'm so glad I got to share this with you even though I'd seen that multiple times before it made me feel like I've seen it again for the first time and I'm glad you guys enjoyed it
Sokka's character progression doesn't get nearly enough attention, he literally went from thinking women only being in the kitchen to going into the biggest battle of his life with two girls beside him and he never questions that ever...

I remember way back when the finale aired. They did a special where both of the episodes were played back to back so the audience did not have to wait an extra week. I think the time slot with commercials was like an hour and half
Loved how they made two different fights. One is intense, other is scary and hype machine. Everyone got their closure perfectly, no loose ends (except for zuko's mother which they covered in comics). Series was crafted from start to end. They barely made any changes to original plan and it turned out to be prefect.

Toph hanging from Sokka's arm having no vision/sight/feeling of anything but his slipping grasp and believing him when he tells her they are going to die. I cant imagine how afraid she must've been
Yeah, I really feel that moment too when her eyes start teary..
Love that moment, might be my favorite in the series
I love that scene because it completes her character arc. She started off defensive about accepting help, she teased Sokka for being a nonbender but in the end, she was ok with being vulnerable with someone she trusted with her life.
At the beginning of the the series, Zuko was searching for the Avatar to restore his honor. At the end of, he found the Avatar and restored his honor.
It's amazing how "finding the Avatar" came out differently than we expected!
"You Know Prince Zuko, destiny is a funny thing."

I love how the first word of the series was Sokka saying "It's," and the last word is Toph saying "Perfect."

Because it's true. "It's....Perfect" ❤
It's perfect!
Actually the first word is "Water". ☝️🤓
@@GoldenLeafsMovies Lol we're omitting the OP, damn it! XD
Such a well written show
Its ironic how in The Beach, TyLee said she joined the circus because she did not want to be part of a matched set with her sisters who all looked like her and at the end, she ends up joining the Kyoshi Warriors who are a matched set. Character growth! The writing on this show is so so good.
That is, I believe, exactly the reason she leaves the Kyoshi Warriors in "The Search", though whether that's canon or not is anyone's guess.
@@szandorkane6372 Why wouldn't that be canon?
And she was only 14 right?
@@zoex3316 Yeah I think so
Only 14.
"I'm about to cwlebrate becoming an only child!" How much is how she was raised and how she just IS we still dony know but its sad
“To bend another’s spirit, your own spirit must be unbendable, or you will be corrupted and destroyed.”
The only reason Aang was able to defeat Ozai was because he refused to kill him, against the advice of everyone he talked to about it.
None of his past lives told him to kill. They gave advice like "be decisive, act with justice, be involved, be selfless", and he did all that.
I like that.
Valid point. I think so too sometimes. But history is full of lucky moments.
I felt the same way. I cried some much during their fight.
It’s super cool. And Azula having a mental break down throughout the episode and sobbing at the end really made me feel bad for her.
@@colemanroberts1102 Shows how Zuko’s idea of “honour” is different from everyone else.
It was cool, no doubt.
But it got absolutely lessened by the fact that Katara was randomly standing in the middle of the Arena.
The voice actress that voiced Azula will never watch the end because she had to go to a very vulnerable and dark place to achieve that level of crazy.

that moment with Sokka and Toph, when he's like "I think this is the end." gets me EVERY TIME. he was accepting death. it was just such a beautifully sad moment for me. the eternal optimist, seeing no way out.
Yeah, F you Sokka! Spoke too early! 😢😂
"I need to find the Avatar to restore my honor!"-Zuko
And he did EXACTLY that!
Yeah they never got that. They’re really brutal about her. “Get her on meds”. “Sleep it off”. They’re cold as ive
Some of us didn't hate all her actions nor want her to be defeated like Ozai, in part because some of us understand that making false equivalences between them is actually wild - one of them ruined the other lmao there's no two ways about it and wanting a victim to be punished for trusting and following their abuser is odd at best
@@soniaiboyako4023maybe so, but Azula did do some reprehensible things, so her defeat was warranted.
Sokka literally taking out multiple fire bender, single handedly, during Sozin's comet, while saving the homie... Hero!
Holy hell. I never noticed this. Good grief this show is so excellent
And Aang knew how to deflect it because Zuko taught him how😳
Ones of the best parts of the final Agni Kai for me was Zuko's use moves from other bending forms.
Within him was the power to restore balance to the world
He was part Avatar
Azula really was what Firelord Azulon and Ozai were hoping for which was a child with the combined raw power of the royal family bloodline and the Avatar
But Zuko had the pathway of an Avatar
And yes took on Iroh’s teachings which made him much more powerful
No one else ever talks about how Katara did the same thing. She waited for the right moment to strike when trapping Azula, then did what Iroh calls "Breathe of Fire" to melt the water.
It took the fire nation’s drill to try and break through Ba Sing Se’s wall. It took Iroh a few SECONDS to do and complete the same just with fire during the comet 😭🤧
Yeah, many people overlooked how powerful exactly was that blast.
I’ve always loved that katara initiates the final kiss of the series with Aang
Another testament to Sokka's ability to grow that I have yet to see any reactor catch onto is how protective he became of Toph. In the Serpent's Pass episode, he learned that while Toph is strong and very capable, she is still blind and needs guidance when the scenario isnt in her favor.
In all scenarios since then, you can see him making sure to grab her hand or protect her without a moments hesitation.
the amount of emotions a 15 year old cartoon draws out of us adults is insane and is why this show will be an all time favorite forever. enjoyed watching you two fall in love with this show!
I’ve legitimately watched the series 3 times now with reactors and it’s so solid everytime

I love the name of the episode. “Avatar Aang”. Shows how much he’s grown up and yet how powerful this 12 year old has become. Such a powerful and lovely show

@@jafetlamadrid2759 I know! I love it! Such a great show!
The first word of ATLA: It's
The last word of ATLA: Perfect
Zuko was only worried Aang would hesitate to kill Ozai and that would get him killed instead. He does trust in his skills.
We don't talk enough about Aang's entire inner conflict was how to avoid killing the Fire Lord. Not once did him, a 12 year old boy, ever doubt himself to take on and beat the guy....just didn't want to kill him.
That's got to be a different level of aura.
Tear bending TO THE MAX.
And Maple was sweat bending from anxiety
If you notice every team avatar member was close to die in this episode
Sometimes I wish I can wipe my memory clean and re-experience that first time joy I had watching this series as a kid
Same here I live vicariously through these reactors wish I could be a new fan of the show again
Like i said I can't say it was by design as I can't prove it but it is an amazing detail if it was
it actually was her VA yes.
And I just noticed that all the maids in the scene resembled Azula as well.
you know Hello Future Me right? he has a theory that there was no cherry pit. his thought process goes like this: since a few minutes after this scene, Azula is shown hallucinating (her mom), he thinks she was starting to lose it then and hallucinated the maid. and if you look at the faces of the other maids, they seem surprised (yes it could be that they are surprised at Azula berating the maid), but he suggests maybe they were surprised at Azula shouting at nothing.
3:20 The two guys having a conversation in the bomb bay before Sokka dropped them were voiced by the creators.
My favorite thing is that Ty Lee’s VA didn’t know she was a bad guy when voicing her. It’s part of why she is so cheery, she literally thought she was a good guy
Anyone else feel pity for Azula? She’s as much a product of abuse as Zuko is only she never had Iroh to lean on
"Guys, I can fix her"
@AlienBearCatI totally agree with you.
Mmmm, she did but she didn't rely on him.
Nah she deserved
The video you're talking about is by Hello Future Me. His ATLA essays are the best in the game.
Each character has shown a tragic amount of change in their own way. But I think none had such a journey of inner growth as much as Zuko's.
True
i feel like azula slowly losing it was the only way zuko and katara could beat her
The symbolism in the episode titles still moves me.
This show is the journey of a young airbender finding himself, from the first episode "the boy in the iceberg"
To the last, "Avatar Aang"
After finding out that azula’s voice actress went into her emotional past to put 1000% into her cry, idk just feels extremely emotional. 14:35
FUN FACT: The only time we see Azula's mom literary said she love her, was in her hallucination
That is sad
21:20 They didn't make up wait. All 4 episodes were released on a 2 hour release and played several times the next day. The last 12 episodes were in a 2&half month span.
6:54 It's not that it's bright - Toph, despite being blind, still knows that it's a lot of fire because of how hot it is even from a distance. Such a cool way for them to explain the scale of it
You know how confident Paku and Piando had to be going into this a water bender and a swordsman going up against an army of supercharged firebenders
I was literally thinking that while watching this!!! Paku is still waterbending incredibly well for being in the middle of so much heat and flame
I always tear up when they announce the coronation: “All hail Firelord Zuko!”

Unbending principle in a show about bending. Great thought there.
What is foreshadowed is the willingness of the universe along with the spirit world to help the Avatar correct and fix the imbalance that the world has and though energy bending might be a deus ex machina, you can definitely attribute this lion turtle wisdom thing to the magical forces influencing the events the follow.

,The lion turtles would energy bend humans with elemental gifts and then remove those gifts when they got back into town.

The times I cry watching the series with you guys again, oh man like this show gives me years of life.
I'm so glad I got to share this with you even though I'd seen that multiple times before it made me feel like I've seen it again for the first time and I'm glad you guys enjoyed it
It's easy to forget just how INSANELY powerful airbending is. And how powerful of an airbender Aang is on top of that, even without the Avatar state.
You know... for not wanting to kill people, Aang probably killed most of the crew on the firelords air ship when he knocked it out of the sky
They didn’t torture us as kids. The finale, all four episodes, ran concurrently when they aired. Not over a month.
lol I love that Avatar the Last Airbender canon dictates everyone cries at the end 😂
Sokka's character progression doesn't get nearly enough attention, he literally went from thinking women only being in the kitchen to going into the biggest battle of his life with two girls beside him and he never questions that ever...
Well were finally here. I found this channel after looking for reactions to avatar the last airbender and i saw that you guys had only reacted to the first and second episode or so. 7 months later and this became my favorite react channel and ive got to watch you guys both grow as reactors wnd people. Its been an awesome journey guys! Thank you for everything up until this point and can't wait for more :)
The Normies one is definitely a great reaction as well. Got me into the whole reaction video genre
I remember way back when the finale aired. They did a special where both of the episodes were played back to back so the audience did not have to wait an extra week. I think the time slot with commercials was like an hour and half
My favorite moment in ATLA is Sokka and Toph on the cliff. I cannot watch that scene without crying.
Loved how they made two different fights. One is intense, other is scary and hype machine. Everyone got their closure perfectly, no loose ends (except for zuko's mother which they covered in comics). Series was crafted from start to end. They barely made any changes to original plan and it turned out to be prefect.
First episode of Avatar: "The Boy in the Iceberg"; the last episode: "Avatar Aang"
(Not counting the intro) First word spoken in Avatar: "It's"; last word spoken: "perfect" It's perfect
the contrast of the agni kai vs aang and ozais fight is INCREDIBLE. it’s so beautiful with just the sound of fire and subtle music against the intense blows of the other fight. WHEW.
I grew up with this masterpiece. Most emotional episode for me was “the desert” when aang got ANGRY and sad that he lost appa. And to this day my favorite episode is the fire bending masters episode with the dragons. Love it. Glad you guys enjoyed :)
many people forget that the final agni kai is a brother and sister trying to kill each other
Rewatching this series with y'all has been a really fun time. Arianna and Maple are lucky, though. They didn't have to wait week to week for 3 years to watch this. They got to experience it way faster.
She does get put on meds. The story is continued in Comics. The story about Zukos mom is also revealed in comics
Bravo 🙌🏽 👏🏽… one of the best animated shows of all time without a doubt !!! 🎉
Rest assured ladies, those of us that watched it live got the 4 part finale as a 2 hour special. I think the last half of season 3 also had daily episodes for the week leading up to it. 10/10 show, will always watch reactions to it
Also, I have to thank you ladies for bringing us along this journey with you.
Yeah, we who knew, know this series was one of the greatest ever made, but, to see these things relived in your faces...
...Like seeing the family opening presents on Chrismas Day.
This story, and all its immortal life lessons...it's precious...and so are you.
This is one of the few series I can watch over and over again especially from the beginning. And blaze watch this too lol.
I love watching this with new viewers because their emotions spill into me and I get all emotional all over again.
This show has become one of my favorites in a ridiculously short time. It's a clever story and it's cleverly made.
PS: Maple is the cutest momo girl i've ever seen. Arianna is perfect for a Korra cosplay, she already looks like Korra.
EDIT: (Arianna please don't hate me XD) Arianna would also be an amazing Azula cosplay.
Im actually impressed they managed to give this show a solid 8/10 ending. Usually kids shows dont manage to do that.
I think people forget that Azula is a 14 yr old girl who has ived with an abusive father without the support that Zuko got from Uncle Iroh.
Don't cry because it's over,
cry because it happened.
One of the best endings of a series...EVER.
This has been an amazing journey to be on with you guys! I'm so glade you enjoyed it!
In the original airing, they did all four final episodes back to back on one day. :) They weren't quite that cruel.
Out all the eps, my favourite is the last episode "Part 4: Avatar Aang". It's just a perfect beautiful ending!
