    I just shake my head everytime I hear people saying it's just for rat shooting the .25, I have been using this cal since the 1980s in my bsa mercury .25 and I can tell you it has taken hundreds of rabbits out to 40 yards i have taken people out with me and shot rabbits in front of there eyes stone dead. I hear all the time the pellet drops to the floor as soon as it leaves the barrel, but watch people with catapults take rabbits at 35 yards using very heavy lead 12mm balls running 250 fps and it kills the rabbit dead. It's a perfect hunting cal for all legal quarry and anyone who says otherwise are just kidding there selfs.

    I would love to see Gamo make a .25 with a magazine. I’m lazy and not fond of single loading when the technology of repeating break barrels is as good and reliable as it is now. Really nice for a quick follow up when hunting if needed.

      Hi Heath!
      I agree that'd be fantastic. Crosman also make a multi-shot break barrel now too with the "Mission" air rifle but no .25's yet sadly at least in the UK.
      My ideal setup would be a .25 multishot underlever like the BSA Goldstar running at around 25ft-lbs.. what a rifle!

    Just recently bought a Hatsan Striker in .25 cost £99 had to wait about 6 weeks for delivery & wow that rifle in .25 Carrie’s some serious punch , straight out of the Box at 30 yds just punched holes clean through tin cans leaving gaping holes tried it on 1/2 inch ply same range & again straight through , i have now fitted it with a red dot & love this combo , not keen on the synthetic stock & may fit a wooden one , action very stiff but now beginning to get run , on the chrono you would have to watch what pellets used as it can easily become a power worry , do I regret the wait not in the least in all honesty I love it , PS the local pigeons hate it !

    • @bigdansairguns83
      @bigdansairguns83  Год назад +3

      They're fantastic aren't they? .25 is such a criminally underrated calibre. A customer of mine uses his .25 Cometa to blast squirrels.. in his own words "they certainly don't get up!". Perfect.
      Plus they don't half give tin cans a good mullering.

      Sounds amazing, what is the maximum distance you can hunt with your .25? I fancy getting one for pigeons too

    Great ‘review’ Dan! Love your sense of humour. I’ve seen .25 used for hunting and it was bang on. Just learn to shoot that caliber and I don’t see a problem.

    I've never heard Dan laugh so much. On that basis alone I have ordered one with the wooden stock (on back order until they arrive in the UK). I can't wait to thwack a few cans, plastic toy soldiers and anything else expendable with it. Thanks for a great channel Dan.

    Hatsans with H&N FTT and a decent scope gives sub inch groups at 25 yards.

    Hi Dan. I can`t believe it`s took this long to review one. I bought one in Jan 2014. and it`s been ace. I put some copper slip grease on the sping and that helped cut the twang down a lot. It`s Accurate to 30 yards then the pellet drop is to bad. I put a silencer on it and scope. it`s great for shooting Rats it hits them like a sledgehammer they go with a right pop. A good head shot and you see a red mist and if you examine your kill you find the skull is smashed shattered from the impact. I have used RWS Superdomes. Natermann Ram Points. Marksman pellets. Crossman hollow points. They all shoot well even the marksman and being a soft lead expand well and do Horrendous damage. I have 177 22 25 in PCPs and a few old spingers that I will never part with like BSA Superstar. Cometa 300. with polished piston & trigger. Has you said the Hatsan in 25 cal is just fun to shoot and great for ratting out to 30 yards. And if you have an FAC the Hatsan stiker with a bit of work and an ox spring can be taken up 25 ft lb mark they are so down rated for the UK laws. After fitting the Silencer on my Striker it was a lot more Accurate cut down the barrel flip.

      Hi Russell!
      It's such a great fun air rifle and accurate too. I've no doubt with tweaking as you've said it'd be ridiculously sweet.
      I couldn't put it down matey.

    Bugger.!! After a lot of success with the hatsan 95, and 135 I decided my next Hatsan will be the dominator 200w, maybe now I'll reconsider.😩😩

    Had my Striker .25 for about 10 years here in Spain. Stripped it apart, lots of polishing, deburring, greased it properly. Still under under our 18 ft-lb limit thank god but christ it give a whack on tin cans etc.
    The trigger it isn't great and ive worked on it. But if you put some work in its quite a laugh. Very enjoyable gun

    I have an important question for you and anyone else who has used this rifle: how was the break action in the beginning? I bought one which was really hard to break open and close. The power through a chronometer was low.
    I got it replaced but the new one was the same.
    You have to use speed and force to close the action, it's so roughly machined.
    Is it supposed to be like this? Feels like it will take thousands of repetitons before it is run in.

    speaking from total ignorance :) I am looking at a .25 as my 1st air rifle. my mates are all moaning about the lead free coming dark days all saying they are too light etc etc. I am thinking the .25 would would benefit from this and it's shear size would still give the punch needed for a bit of ratting.

    • @bigdansairguns83
      @bigdansairguns83  2 года назад

      Hi Darren!
      My exact thoughts matey, to be fair some lead free pellets are actually pretty good. The JSB .25 and .177's can be freakishly accurate. The only downside with the .177 is the lack of weight as you've mentioned... not so with the .25!

    I got the walnut stock .25. Great gun but the trigger sucks. Every time I shoot one of my other air rifles afterwards I always end up prematurely firing because the triggers so much lighter in those.

    • @bigdansairguns83

      Hey Jim!
      I agree, great fun rifle but the trigger does let it down a smidge. I wanted a walnut for the review but I couldn't get my mitts on one unfortunately.
      Cheers Jim!

    Hi Dan , the cheap red dot did not last long on the Hatsan striker .25 , was out with this morning & 4 shots later NO Red Dot & if shaken it sounds like a Maraca , in fact everything inside is rattling about inside like the proverbial pea in whistle , never gave it a thought , but since been told Red Dot sights do not like springers & especially a .25 , just a query can one obtain a wooden stock to replace that horrible lump of plastic , if I can I would buy it in the morning , advice please , kind regards JJ

    Good cheap way to dip your toe in .25 water, the gamo clone trigger on the hatsans is rough for sure but can be made nicer with a fettle.

      Yeah the trigger was a slight let down. Still better than a lot of the budget gear but there's definite room for improvement.

      @@bigdansairguns83 yep it's the same as the xs19 trigger just a bit rougher, a polish and longer second stage screw does wonders tho.

      In .25 it isn't exactly motoring but for .177 and .22 it's more than enough energy for rabbits up to 60 yards in ideal conditions. Those lead free .25's were interesting though!
