My mum is blind and I’m so excited about the prospect of Meta introducing some features for visually impaired people. Video calling like Be My Eyes or OCR so you can snap a picture of a letter and have the glasses read it back. Fingers crossed! 🤞

Just received these as a surprise gift from the wife. She got transition lenses which as she anticipated the very problem you’ve encountered.
So far they’re cool! I think Bluetooth audio will be the key use case for me.

I was considering buying these for my upcoming trip, now I realized thats a waste.
How sturdy is the case? Can you place it in the pocket and not break it or damage it? (Did this with my insta360 go 2, and cracks appeared after 1 month in and out of my pocket)

It works perfect for me coz it's my full time glasses as I have prescription lenses with transition. Currently on vacation in Bogota and boy are these glasses useful. The best gadget I've purchased this year
Whats your thoughts on battery life, it seems low to me.
@The_Benjamins yes, the battery life is poor and because you have to close and insert in case to charge it then that's a drawback.
Good review! What you think of the app that controls the glasses settings? Great tip on transition and non polarized glasses. Yes you can get prescription transition non polorized lenses. 👍
Are the gloss transitions new? I don't see them in Canada or on the Canadian website.

Great review! However, one thing you forgot to mentioned that's very important and could be a deal breaker which is its battery runtime on this thing. From Amazon reviews, someone claimed it is very sucks. Just wearing it for 40 min w/o any playing, the battery went down to 60%... Is it true?

I probably won’t buy the glasses becuz of the expense, but that was a darn good review cuz I watched the whole video even knowing I probably won’t get a pair. Great job on being so honest. If I was getting a pair it would def be the transition ones.

Oh lol!!!! I actually wear prescription glasses all the time so was gonna go the transition lenses anyways. Cos my current glasses are already rayban just a different style all together to the sunglasses ones. So was thinking of changing up my style and having the classic wayfarer framed ones like the ones in this video. I actually have them as normal sunnies but aren’t prescription lens’s so don’t ever wear them 😢 so this time I thought. Hey. I’ll get the smart glasses version that’ll be transition lenses and all that. So other than the “huge mistake” are they a good deal? They also cost allot more here in Australia. But hey. So did my current ones that aren’t smart glasses. I been wondering if I should wait for the next version of these? Or just get these? It’s like that with any tech I guess though hey. The graphite or grey looks darker as a whole, but I’d say the green offers a lot more clarity in the sun compared to the graphite which yes they’re clear but I feel like it’s not as clear as the green when I’m looking at things

Do you think they will change the way the cameras orientation is and how long you can take videos for? So again I find that so stupid. I don’t ever take videos holding the phone horizontal and never just take short videos like that. Don’t think that’s that a software thing they can change later?

Yes they can.
There should be a wide angle lens also, or just in place of the camera on there, they should switch it to wide angle and let you crop it later.

Man, I had been waiting for the matte black to come back in stock. I think you convinced me to go with the shiny black instead. The gloss finish its more of a vintage Ray-Ban look IMHO. The clear lenses look good on you!

When you go on the RayBan site, click on "Choose Your Frame & Lens Colors". From there, you can customize them exactly how you want👍

I got prescription Transitions and they work much better while also being higher quality plastic

I like mine for work. Waiting to see the battery life. Always on the phone and visit different work sites.i believe it's only 1 min so you can share. You can take a vid of upcoming projects and send to group. No option to turn of vid light while filming. I should have gotten the transition lens. Awesome vid man

Yo! great video Dave, Im a new fan! So here's my feedback......I bought the transition lenses, per recommendation, and i'm a bit disappointed that they don't get darker in normal daylight. I may be sending them back to get the normal daylight version...I'm always creeped out when you can see someones eyeballs thru sunglasses in the daytime. They get dark under studio light, but not under normal day light, which is strange. Keep up the good work!
First off, I've been a massive fan of your work for years now, so to have you drop in here is amazing and I'm very humbled! I hope our paths cross at some point. To the transition lenses, I followed up on Instagram, but not with another full video on here. My notes now are that there are two really tough choices with these and that might make them a total no go for a lot of people. The tinted lenses are unusable indoors, but the transitions don't get dark enough outdoors. Plus, they don't get dark at all while driving because windshields have UV filters in them, so I would find myself holding them up to my side window to get dark. Unfortunately, with current tech, if you really want these, it's a choice of the lesser evil. Which is a bummer, because the speakers and quick photos are amazing to use!

Rebel black is black with a tiny bit of red but what it's really more for is people who want to the see the inside
Of the frames which is what rebel black lets you do if you look close enough.
I bought the transition lenses up front, love them! I spent Thanksgiving dinner shooting pics and videos of family and they turned out great! I will be posting 60 second shorts on my channel-HandsFree! Could have mentioned the Meta app and the import/review process. Nice review!
You saw the solution before the problem! Love it! How has your framing been? I'm finding that if something is close, I can frame it pretty decently, but like 10 ft away and it's always too far left and too high
@@DavidManningvlog I’m still playing with the framing, but found if I turn my head a bit, they line up pretty good. We have 4 inches of snow outside, but I can’t wait to take a scooter ride with them and see how they do. Get that unicycle out and give it a shot! Thanks!

The transitions are a must! But how do you adjust the frames? I took to LensCrafters and they were scared to adjust

I mean the arms behind the ears to make it tighter. I know they heated it up and then bend it
There are electronics through just about the entire frame. If you heat them they’ll be useless after. No one is going to want to touch them and be held liable for potential damage unfortunately

You have convinced me to get transitioning glasses however I’m on the road allot and the transition glasses do not turn dark when driving plus glare is a problem too ( when driving )
So I have no choice but to get 2 pairs .
The other dark and polorized to stay in the car . ( both of them being prescription )
Plus , fug it it’s kinda cool to have 2 pairs .

For some reason they are not offering the shiny black in transition on their site only matte black...
I have the Rx Transition lens in mine, the only thing I miss is the Polarization when outside. Yes, it does mess with looking at LED/LCD screens...but there's a lot of glare where I am.
Can you show how to pop out the lenses? Hoping to keep one pair but swap out lenses to try out transition lenses
Benj Haisch just mentioned to me that third party lenses are available! I'm not brave enough to test this yet, but if I scratch these lenses, I'll absolutely be doing!
Word of caution! Make sure the lenses match exactly per rayban ref. Code. And, (most importantly) they are PLASTIC lenses. This way they can bend a little to snap into the frames. The glass lenses would require the frames to be heated to fit them. But with all the tech in the frames they wouldn’t have any smart functionality after.
I don't feel like they are there yet... but I still want them haha! I tested a pair today at the eye doctor. Impressed most by the sound quality. They'd be super great for biking. Could listen to music and take the on-a-whim video or photo. But I already have a small bluetooth speaker and action cams, so unless I'm wanting to go ultra minimalistic, I'll have to pass.
Yes... definitely need the transition lens... I wear them all the time when I'm out and about.

I love the sound from these! Not having to use earbuds while I'm working is awesome. I work by myself and like to listen to either music or podcasts while working, but with earbuds, can't hear if someone approaches me
awesome video, thanks. always wanted to take videos (POV) while driving (Tesla with FSD) or in my MX5 Miata (weekend backroads driving) or just on kayak/paddle boarding and not worry about framing/setting the camera..i've used Insta360 to capture those unique views but having it on your glasses frees up my hands for other things

Absolutely! Cameras are pretty much everywhere now, you never know when you're being filmed! But that's sort of already the case with mobile phones, right? People can be holding their phone like they're texting, but really they're taking a photo/video of you😬
They’re now my daily drivers. Got a couple sets of replacement lenses from a third party site as well.

I've been wearing rayban prescription transitions for a few years so I'm seriously considering going for these as my next glasses.
My brown headliner with transition lenses have shipped 💪 i tried the brown on at sunglasses hut and they looked great, but had to order from Ray Ban directly for the transition combo
I was at the mall yesterday and heard about these. I bought the brown pair which I really love but the main thing I don’t like is that because they’re brown you can see the camera and it’s more prevalent than on the black lenses. I did try on the transition lenses and I felt like they were really big on me. Like they kept sliding off my face, felt like they were made for a man. I might go back before my 30 days is up and swap them out because I hadn’t thought about, taking the sunglasses off when you go indoors.
I ordered these as my prescription glasses. I hope I like them get mine next week
