These will be really handy for travelling when they can visually translate foreign text from books/billboards/signs etc into your own language right in front of your eyes similar to iPad/iPhone apps!
Ordered my Wayfarer meta ray bans in glossy black with prescription grey transition lenses at my opticians. 2 weeks wait, so should be here soon, hopefully.
100% worth it in my opinion. I would suggest to get the clear or the transitional so you can get the utmost use of them. Sunglasses only work in the sun! Take that into accountability!
Thinking about getting these for driving, I’m a commercial driver, and I was thinking this might help me with directions without looking at my phone. Thoughts? As well as listening to music while I drive.
If the camera was in the middle of the glasses, then I would have considered it. But those speakers did surprise me. The sound was really nice considering it’s not in your ear.
@ the way we aim and look at things. It’s skewed off because the camera is not in the middle. So you always have to adjust yourself or accept that you’re always gona be off a lil.
So the one thing that is keeping me from getting these is the fact that you can only record up to 3 minutes at a time, but my question is, if I want to do a longer video. Can I just click the record button And when it ends in 3 minutes, click it again and again and again, until I have like A bunch of clips that I can put together into 1 video or will that overheat the glasses or break them?
The battery life on the ray ban meta glasses I’ve experienced is about a day or two. Although I typically put it back in the case every time I’m done using them like Apple AirPods. The case holds quite the charge. I only charged the case twice in two months.
Good review. I'm interested in getting a pair with prescription transition lenses with the idea of wearing them all day, each day. I love the concept of having a POV camera available to me, not as fussed about the meta AI and the audio needing to be running the Bluetooth running beside my eyes, ears and brain the whole time ;) Is there a way in the app (or glasses) to turn off the Bluetooth/Wifi so that the only function is the camera?
Thank you. Unfortunately you’re limited to a triggered 3 minute max video recording with audio. The glasses do work without your phone around but I’m sure it’s still discoverable and wearing out the battery.
@Carsonous I get my glasses tomorrow. So far you're the first I've heard mention chatgpt w them .. Will it be easy for me to figure out how to use chatgpt w them? I have the chatgpt 4o $20 per month plan so would be awesome to pair w that. Can the visual ai stuff also be used w chatgpt instead of meta on these? Or just basic question answer, no photos .. thanks
@@Maverick098-m5bI use the $20/mo as well so we get the hour of advanced chat 🤙. At this point, it’s a no on the visual ai. You could take a photo and upload it but that is cumbersome. I’m sure more options will open up in the future.
Three problems that I see, 1 is that the battery life sucks. 2 would be that when you’re filming or taking photos that light is flashing. There’s nothing secret agent about that. And 3d thing is it only films in portrait not landscape mode.
Well it kinda varies slightly I think because of built in stabilization. I noticed the edges of clips can vary. But it looked slightly wider than my r5. So I would say about 15mm. Although the lens must be capturing even wider in order to stabilize.
@@Carsonous Thanks for your observation and reply. I could not find the official info on the official site. However, your personal hands-on experience is sufficed. Appreciate your help.
I've had them for about a week and find they're give me really bad headaches and nausea. I didn't get prescription lenses, so it's either the stock lens that has some mildly blurriness or something to do with the signals near my head, maybe the audio doing something to my inner ear? I dunno, I use wireless ear pods all the time but these are giving me issues. I love the features but might have to return them.
Wow. Thank you for sharing. I’m sorry you’ve gone through that. That doesn’t sound fun. I hope it’s just an adjustment period for you. I had no issues like this. How many hours do you wear them a day?
@@Carsonous I got the transitions in black and I’ve used them in my recent RUclips videos and I think I’ve found a replacement for my GoPro in certain situations!
Heres the bad part... They have certain phones all the functions work on. Even worse? They have certain carriers all the phones will work on. I have neither (but a new phone and great service) and my phone calls will not work. Ive tried resetting them. Gave Facebook whatever they wanted from me in terms of permissions. I hard reset them. I’ve read reviews suggesting that transition lenses don’t fully darken to black when outdoors, and I’m unsure which option to choose.

You can create videos back to back to back. No overheating issues.

How are you able to use ChatGPT with the glasses?
He is doing a voice call using the ChatGPT app from phone and answering from the smart glasses instead of earbuds.
Thank you. Yes exactly. The glasses were just a Bluetooth device for me in this situation.
