I Broke Minecraft's World Generation

  • I created a data pack that replaces every chunk in the entire world with a random other chunk, which competely breaks the world generation. It results in a shatter world with large pillars, pulled from mountain biomes. Despite those massive changes, this data pack is 100% playable in survival, hardcore, or anything else.

    Since making this video, I uploaded a new version of the data pack that doesnt't replace chunks with end portals, making it possible to beat this without inachievable luck, and also, entities now carry over to randomized chunks

      I think another thing you could do is check for end portal frames every time you load a chunk and somehow mark the chunk it goes to so the eye of ender points there instead of the original location

    Pay attention to the 0, ~, 0 coordinates in The End. If you kill dragon and there was no land on this coordinates, then back Portal will be destroyed and you can't go back. There is a video on RUclips that show this problem, but i didn't remember the name of it.

    • @MonoCodeYT
      @MonoCodeYT  6 месяцев назад +69

      i think that's patched in the current version. i tried it, and the portal spawned at the y-level where it originally spawned when the end was generated

    The coolest thing about this is that since it randomizes the chunks *after* they've generated, structures are chopped up as well, meaning you won't have full villages generating on top of jumbled chunks, and it feels a lot more separated.

    i think my main feedback would be to try and do the chunk randomizing before the game tries to generate structures, perhaps with a new world gen setting?
    i think this could not only improve speed (since the game would be generating the chunks as fast as it would generate a normal one) but it would also solve the "broken" structures like that villager house or the nether fortresses
    i am not sure if this is even possible, but people have done some crazy stuff

    one of my favorite minecraft memories ever was playing a glitched superflat creative world in I think.. 1.6.4? where there was a massive chunk error/s that caused there to be basically a massive flat cliff stretching to build height and across a very, very large area, and I built a big house in a little 'inlet' in the cliff face with a bridge to an outlying chunk pillar and a huge ladder system upwards to the house. i truly miss that world, and this kinda captures the vibe in a weird way, so thank you :)

    This is awesome!! I can't wait to play this and see how chaotic it gets. I remember when in one of the old versions, you could set weird terrain generations that could result in a lot of pillars, and I had a world playing thought that. It's since been lost (rip my old laptop), but this makes me want to make the same kind of world again. I also kinda wonder how this would feel with ChunkLock, too. I have my first ever ChunkLock run still going, and I'm at the point where I have to head to the Nether to progress. Bit intimidating, but I think I'll be fine. I found you through ChunkLock, btw, and am glad I stuck around. You have awesome ideas.
