Update! I just returned from Alaska. Mt McKinley was on his bucket list, so I scheduled a flight over Denali and they upgraded me to glacier land! As I stood with tears of joy in awe of it all I know he was therein spirit with me, with his journal from Nepal tucked under my arm the mountain healed me from all years of grief for him leaving us so soon. Very very grateful to Talkeetna Air Taxi for that monumental flight.
My late husband made base camp in 2001. It was the trip of a lifetime for him. It’s funny the pilot said you can just walk up. I remember him and getting off the plan when he returned I didn’t recognize him, the weight loss, fatigue but defa new man. He went to the ends of the earth to find the peace he longed for, pushing his body as far as it could go. Thank you so very much for this video, I did t get to trek with him and seeing this truly touched my heart! He passed from leukemia in 2009 a loss to all who knew him and his love for the mountains.

Random stranger, there are mountains in the UK that I'd definitely consider a mountain. Not a mountain comparable to the Himalayas or Alps but they're mountains when you look at the land around them. It's about perspective. I'd count a mountain as anything significantly protruding and rocky or sharp compared to the surrounding land. There are 5000 meter hills in the Himalayas 😂

Truly breathtaking. My brain can’t fathom the height and immensity of that particular mountain range. What a treat that was to see. An eerie beauty. So alluring and beautiful and so incredibly deadly all at once. Thank you so much for sharing this video.

I'm with you Suzanne. The highest altitude I've been is 14115 feet on the top of Pike's Peak. I was thinking how the Everest Base Camp is more than 3000 feet higher. Over 29000 feet is hard to wrap my mind around.

This is a really scenic video of the region around Mount Everest. It is interesting to see those small villages that are in the area of the Himalayas near Mt. Everest.

Words cannot describe the stunning beauty of this part of the world. Would I correctly assume people up here live off of the land? In the case of something as tragic as nuclear war or an EMP, this would be, probably, the place to be. Folks in these parts might not even realize anything went awry!

I believe they both farm and earn money from tourists, both by guiding trekkers and climbers and by running teahouses (inns) and shops.

no video can give you the powerful feeling of being on the top of the world, except of traveling on your own foot :-) just do it, it´s a feeling that you will never forget and it is just yeahhhh. There are a lot of companies that offer "normal" trips, for walking between Lukla - Namche - Everest BC in different length. To see this surounding landscape is unbelievable ... it is not necessary to climb to the top, just being there is enough.
