I'm so happy that Local 58 is back, not because it was the original first Analog Horror before Mandela Catalogue, but also because it's been years since hear of that series.
I think the distinction between "Alien Horror" and "Cosmic/Lovecraftian Horror" is what is supposed to be scaring you. With aliens, it's the aliens themselves that are meant to be frighting. With cosmic horror, while it can have aliens, the fear is more focused on the unknown and/or the insignificance of man kind in the infinite universe.
As example, Alien is "Alien Horror" about a Xenomorph, a creature that's physically very dangerous but can technically be fought with a gun. Whereas Comsic horror tends to be more about the scale and insignificance of humanity, it tends to include if not directly lean on existential fear or humanity's limited ability to understand the "true nature" of the universe around us.

Film Theory should really do a theory on where the tornado from The Wizard of Oz would land on the Fujita scale. It must be an EF4 or 5 because it was able to lift up a whole house. Granted the house looked quite weak and was made out of wood so it probably weighed about 10,00 to 15,000 pounds. So it could be an EF3.
The Invader Zim wiki introduced me to the moth man legend, and the versions I've been introduced to state that the mothman was trying to warn people of upcoming disasters, but of course, we ignored the warnings. Granted I first read Absol's description from a book before then, but I didn't know it was based off of something until later The Mothman legend is our world's Absol to summarize.
Real Quick: The ending is Perfect, a next up segment instead of someone giving clues to the next him is so creative, Film theory is my favorite by how different Lee is from Mat, which i feel like the others try to hard to BE Mat when I feel like relating to the host is probably the best part
Also another thing that was never mentioned in the film theory episodes to local 58 is that in "show for children", when the skeleton walks around the graveyard when it hasn't yet looked into a grave, the tree that it passes by naturally covers the moon, because the moon is further away than the tree. But when looking into the second grave, you can see the moon in the corner of sky when you look at it from the graves perspective. After looking into the second grave the moon gets darker and looks a lot more grim, and when the skeleton walks by another tree, the moon covers the tree, as if it was getting closer and closer, and in fact following the skeleton, as we can see when the skeleton lies in a grave that was dug in a cave, and yet the moon stares into the grave.
*Local 58* is genuinely one of my favourite series on RUclips, it’s just… so perfectly unnerving. Always pitch perfect, and I’m so happy that the quality apparently hasn’t dropped a bit. 💖 “You Are On The Fastest Available Route” was the first video in the series I saw, not knowing _anything_ about it, and it’s still an all-time most impactful RUclips experience for me; I was truly shaken, and utterly hooked. 😂
The eyes on the sides for prey only really works for terrestrial animals. Aquatic predators have eyes on the sides of their head also so they can see more area that their prey is at since they can be in 3D spaces relative to the predator more easily than terrestrial animals

In the digital transition video, the hirsch camera is directly mentioned! During the segment where all the past logos flash on screen, an old broadcast can be briefly seen that looks to be a news segment about the camera. It absolutely exists in canon. Edit: I looked again and it could also be a drama episode, something like Twilight Zone. Either way, at least the story of the camera exists in Local 58

0:24 to 0:26 I love how film theory (and the other theory channels) is one of the only RUclips channels that has a "subscribe, please!" plug in almost every video that doesn't take you out of the video not does it feel desperate like a clingy ex. If anything, it adds more to the video, especially if it's dealing with a heavy topic. It's like a funny joke to lighten the mood but not in a way that makes fun of said heavy topic.
1. Does the Woman In Profile remind anyone else of Janus, the two-faced roman god of choices? Could this plus the whole predator, prey and accomplice thing, be a way of telling people to choose a side? 2. Mothman. Moth. Creatures attracted to sources of light. Like, maybe, a bright light in the sky? The moon, perhaps?
Did anyone notice that when the skeleton boy "died" and lay in what I assume is his burial plot, the skull of his head looks almost exactly like the "skull" shown early on of the comet? And it looked similar to another skull later on in the video.
Another interesting detail: The Woman in Profile's first appearance was in 1961, the same year that Yuri Gagarin was the first man to orbit the earth. It's already been established in the series that space is "their" domain, so it seems like this is implying that when we invaded (for lack of a better term) "their" domain, "they" retaliated and began to invade ours.

They are based on the word Eidolon and such. Anyway, just wanted to add such a thing to your Idolo talk during the analog horror segment.
