Like a Nostradamus a head of his time my favourite band my favourite artist who understood my frustrations and anger who was able to express in lyrics how I felt a band that understood me 👌💪🙏 God I hope humanity makes it out of the clutches of the progressive WEF globalists and my god we have starmlin void of emotion empathy and integrity what a awful awful human being I had tickets for The The in Edinburgh cannot make it because I’m on the work hamster wheel that the elites created god bless you Matt

I saw The The twice in concert. When I saw them at the QE theater in Vancouver, the security was being assholes and trying to keep everyone in their seats. During this song, Matt stopped the show dead and said "Ya know, if you all stand up at once they can't stop you." Then went back into the song at "we're being sedated by the gasoline fumes..." without missing a beat as the guards melted away and the crowd packed the stage front.
My most vivid and cherished concert memory to this day.

'And our youth, oh youth, are being seduced'
As David Bowie said: 'they know exactly what they're going through'. I've never met sharper and smarter kids than I do at the moment. It's the older folks who are being seduced, particularly the older folks priced out of the job market a few decades before retirement.

I turned to this song after the U.S. elections in 2016. This song completely describes the current situation in the U.S. today. "Reared on a diet of prejudice and misinformation"....how true is that? "Freedom lives in the barrels of a warm gun".....The pendulum has swung back to at least 1989, or earlier. Maybe 1959. Sad. I hope that 2018 is "when everthing that dies, shall rise".

He was singing about the youth in Great Britain at the time and their current state in the late 80’s vis a vis Margaret Thatcher, Ronald Reagan, etc. this was written at the height of the Cold War and not long before the crumbling of the Iron Curtain, the Soviet Union and the Eastern Bloc. If you are like me that was your voice singing along. Passionately.

Feel things more deeply in you’re youth - not true , the state or should I say lack of democracy in the U.K.
, government corruption & cronyism & the ever widening gaps between the rich & the poor still makes me boil with anger which ain’t good for my mood or blood pressure ! Yes…I still sing along loudly & passionately & I still remember every word on that album
