Picked up a “used like new” one from Amazon listed as the ey402mp. I got a brand new ey401mp without makita box or manual but brand new, unused. I have been happily cutting stuff way bigger than I thought it could handle with the 36v XUX01 36v power head. This thing is awesome.
I also struggled to attach the chain at first and had to move the pin all the way towards the wheel. I will probably have to add some sort of hook you find on DeWalt pole saws for pulling down stuck branches… it’s a shame Makita doesn’t have this useful thing that’s also helping with cutting branches by resting the saw against them. Chain tension is also poorly explained in the manual and doesn’t reflect how tight it should be in the picture. I tightened it up to the max and it doesn’t even look close how it supposed to on the picture - I know there should be some slack but need to now search on YT how much of it is optimal. As others pointed out the pin in the manual is in the bar’s hole closest to the wheel. Thank you for your useful video - it confirmed it’s a bit fiddly to put the chain on.
Thank you for your video. I discovered my brand new kit never came with a manual for the pole saw attachment. The chain was tricky to put on initially. Did the manual say which hole on the bar to put the chain tension silver knob on to? I’ve been using various types of chainsaws for years and apart from learning things from you that I’d never bothered to understand in the past, I found your video so helpful. Thanks again!
The holes closer to the center of the bar works the holes towards the end won't work cause the chain is too short...maybe with a longer change the outer hoes would work
Thank you for the video, Sir. This chain is TOUGH to get on those sprockets! I thought I was missing something. Nope. Just really finicky. I've found that Makita chainsaw products are ridiculous in their assembly compared to Stihl saws. The included directions are effectively useless. Good saws once you get them assembled, though.
Thank you for showing me I wasn't the only one who found the chain really tight to go on the sprocket.

Where is the oil adjustment located? on a Makita pole saw attachment
Чи працюватиме ця насадка з подовжувальною штангою під'єднаною у силову головку DeWALT 672 ?
Are you satisfied with the saw? Thank you.
yeah does what I need it to do
Thank you.
This assembly was wrong. The chain tensioner screw should go to the next hole.
Is this your first power tool purchase and use ever? Sure looks like it.
