Exactly. For now every highway trucks are quite useless. I tried to drive my beloved Ford but there is no good map for it. A pinch of mud on asphalt can stuck it... Fortunatelly someone has converted it to ATS so journey in this thing is fully possible xD

I've been wanting a highway map since the game first came out. Imagine if the next Runner game WAS a highway road trucking game
My issue with non awd trucks is the front wheels don’t spin in mud they act like an anchor if anything. Like the truck pushes forward but the front wheels just drag and then the suspension bends back causing the front end to dip or dig in the mud. If the back wheels can move through mud the front wheels should spin instead of just being dead weight.
I like the trucks a lot, but the missing diff lock on some and awd on all of them really disappoints me

If you add AWD and difflock to all of them...they will then be like all the other trucks we have with the same features. I Find the absence of diff lock a bit rough, but I can do without AWD when they pull so well. Its nice to have the challenge coming from the trucks we are driving instead of the maps sometimes. Do we really need more of the same?
A Highway Map would be so great! Let the Highway Trucks get some love 💕
That's more like ETS2/ATS2 "territory".
I like the trucks for the Ontario Canada logging mod map. They both have a lot of power, they may not get it done the quickest but I like them.
Some older Western Stars would be cool. Like the shorter WS 6900 or 49 Series.
Fact. I like older trucks in Snowrunner more than new ones.
I love Western Star's, definitely my favourite Trucks. I've spent more money on this game across every platform then I care to admit.. 😅
This goes to show that the series needs to shift more towards company management as its main gameplay focus rather than navigating difficult terrain. Have a massive map with highways going throughout it, use highway trucks to carry offroad trucks to the nearest off-road area, and proceed from there. Add tire wear to discourage you simply driving your truck with massive mud tires on the highway the whole way. Make gas cost money. Add a system that randomly generates a mission with the appropriate pay for completion. Now every truck has a use, and we don't have to groan every time they release new trucks that can't do anything on the latest maps.
for the gas money, I suggest hard mode. Although once you get rolling and finish michigan you should have enough of a cash buffer to not worry too much about fuel. However early on you really need to manage it, sometimes even not putting the most powerful engine because it eats too much gas
I get where you are headed, but that sounds like it becomes a strategy game I have no interest in. On the opposite side, I think they should make much harder terrain that you really have to get creative to cross and just stop making highway trucks for a game that has hardly any highway. The whole selling point of the runner series is the deformable terrain. If the really wanted to crack it wide open, release a terrain editor and vehicle builder.

Thanks for the Review , as you said all 3 trucks are unless until they make a "highway map" This Wolf Pack DLC is the Definition of a " Cash Grab "
It helps we're getting some improvements to all trucks in the pack, as confirmed on PTS (not had a chance to make a video yet), but it would have been best if they launched that way.
What are those improvements Ben? I would have bought this pack if they at least had AWD, but they are pretty useless in this game without.

Im working on Amur and got this DLC, so I tried them first time on there. I was like yeah nope lol. Maybe in the earlier maps 😂
Even the new tractors currently fall apart in Amur, it's a tough old area!

También pienso que deberían tener una grúa pequeña para darles más ultilidad. Y la suspensión al menos en dos de ellos parecen de carretas del oeste americano.😔
I just got a modded version of the trucks which gives them engagable awd and diff lock and I'm having a lot of fun with them currently
Is this mod available on Xbox Series X? I downloaded a mod that I thought did this but I couldn't figure it out as the option for AWD wasn't in the list. I went back and looked and I think it said something about a "sticker" and I'm not to keen on that. Id prefer it to look and function as if it wasn't a mod.

If you want to buy a good truck DLC for any purposes, go for the *Navistar 5000-MV.* That thing is a beast, pulls everything you want, and is powerful enough to go through mud without major issues. Sure, it's one truck, but an awesome one.
Absolutely, great truck. Fond memories of using it in Alaska and Lake Kovd.

The 57X does brilliantly on the Tennessee race track. It's crazy fast with the high range gearbox. The 47X NF 1424 does just fine with just the diff lock. It handles mud like a champ. I run the 47X NF 1430 as a heavy crane truck with OHD I tires. It drives just fine with that setup.
I've seen a few people suggest the NF 1430 as a crane truck, I guess at least it has a purpose albeit there are better alternatives. Good shout about the racetrack! It's probably good for being launched off the runway in Alaska too.
When I need a crane truck I just use Ziks 605r lol, it will get me anywhere
Hi SnarkyRC. I'm replying to you about the 47X NF 1430, I've got it on a flatbed with a crane and I've tried it on a job but it was getting stock in the snow and not moving. So I've not got in my garage. I hope you can help me out with some advice about this one please THANK YOU

@@JordanJank Of course there are better alternatives in rigs but, I like using trucks that add to the difficulty of the game.
The extra wheels make it a really good crane truck imho. I can see them going back and adding stuff to these trucks.
Yes, shame it's not that easy to get it and the crane anywhere tough. Some dev tweaks would help.

if you want to try these trucks for free on console (PS4) then download the trucks max pack mod, the dlc checker that should stop them appearing in the truck store isn't working, all three trucks have diff lock and switchable AWD.

1st upgrade should be the advanced heavy winch and tires and some good winch skills and you go anywhere
I should have watched this vid before buying. Not that I wouldn't have bought it then, but I would have been less disappointed in the lack of diff locks and AWD. However, the customization on the 57X makes the price worth it in itself! Plus the fact that the 57X is strangely capable offroad. I personally used the chained tyre option as that seems to work well on it.
first 2h from the purchase, a refund option was possible. I did refund mine
I would like a map that had a lot of road repairs and then missions to take cargo and large cargo across like 3 maps. You could do it the hard way or do the repairs and then use trucks like this to do the main missions with ease. Otherwise these are highway road trucks in a game about mud and offroad challenges. They just have no advantage.

Maybe they buffed it but I love the 47x NF1424 while I'm pushing out into the Burned Forest map. I use it for staging fuel semitrailers for the firefighting missions. It's also so stupidly fast compared to anything else, I call it the Mad Ferret.
they did patch these trucks and made them better by making them either have a dif lock, all wheel drive or both so they're better than what they were on release though if would only get them if you really want to, i don't use them much aside from the beginning of the game because like most dlc vehicles you get them for free in your garage

The 57X looks amazing. But all three trucks a rather dissapointing. Diff Lock and awd would be great.
And if one blind axle wasn't useless enough, now we have a truck with two. Yeah.
Give the 10 wheels awd and diff lock the one that has diff already awd and the third just diff lock and it would be perfect

Thanks for confirming all of my suspicions. Do you, in your infinite wisdom, think there is a possibility they will add AWD or diff locks in the future? Much the way we waited for years before the Western Star 6900 Twin Steer had all wheels pulling us to cargo carrying glory.
Honestly, I would assume so given the commercial implications as it is not a great look for Western Star nor is it going to sell as well in its current form.
They added AWD today, because people complained.
I sure hope that the devs will add awd/better tires/diff lock either via a level unlock or by finding it in Phase 8.
They probably will. The old Derry Longhorn didn't have AWD and diff lock at first but, they added it later.

according to a dev on discord there are updates coming for these trucks but no mention of what they are. 🤔🤔
I suspect it's some game balance stuff, AKA making them less rubbish.
Wasn't aware the Western Star uses a Freightliner Cascadia dashboard and interior.
Neither was I, good to know.

I've used the 1424 for some logging around Michigan and it's ooookay. The fuel and repair supply rack is a nice addition und active suspension at least better than those dead axles, even on the 49X. Now that you've mentioned the 57X has real life diff lock I absolutely want that in the game.
The game has been out for years. This is really not the time for them to release trucks that are "ok" in the very first introductory region.

I've been hoping for Saber to add the Western Star 4900 series but they seem to be more interested in what's new and "popular". A terrible shame.
I brought them I'm sure someone in the mod community will do the right thing and give them a tweaks

Nice video Ben... These trucks makes you wonder what the f... Devs have in their brains, in real life these trucks have at least diff locks if not awd option for all of them, so why not include that... "hey let's sell these awesome looking trucks, but let's make them suck by denying basic stuff...."

The 57X looks cool, but it’s a shame it doesn’t seem that customisable.
Also, why do the bars for the front of the truck not do anything? Spend my earned truck coins on it, I’d want it to add at least + to the durability rating
It's definitely odd, especially considering one of the Tatras does actually benefit from a bumper upgrade that does stop damage.

I bought this pack specifically for the Highway Hauling map mod. Works perfectly. The Phoenix paint job is pretty cool as well.

@@evobsm2328 because I like to support the developers that make great games by purchasing content that I enjoy. Mod trucks always feel like cheating even if OP setups are optional. Trucking simulators are not my jam, Snowrunner is. The Highway Hauling mod has a great campaign and mix of on road deliveries and off road recoveries.
I would love to see a DLC, thats actually worth it! Like MAN, Mercedes Benz, Volvo, something like this! :(

If it wasn't for MR BUSSES mods on those trucks I wouldn't be using them.
I think I am going to pass on this dlc for now anyway. The trucks look nice but unless we get some highway style maps to where they would be more useful I don't see any reason to buy them.
I'm pretty sure they just buffed all of these trucks in today's update for Season 8. I definitely didn't download a mod, so stealth buff lol?.

With an AWD Diff lock combo these trucks would truly shine. But are pretty much useless due to the lack of said combo.

I basically bought this DLC just so I could sell all 3 trucks in preparation for the Kirovets
Low key annoyed I bought it. Downloaded the tweak mods and am happy w them now
Yeah.. no. Why they insist on (trying to) sell me severely lacking trucks I will never understand.
Tried them in a new game fully excited. 60min later i was super disapointed that they have little addons and no crane and the grip lvl of the tyres is horrible. They cant even pull their own weight up the slightly wet road as the tyres will slip that fast. Then bought a iternational starter offroadtruck with lvl 3 accoutn and it went even thru the deep mud. They need a buff in Grip and addons in my opinion. i love the look and sound of them but man the performance is horrible :(.
Definitely some grip/traction issues. Once they slip they are gone.
I’m still waiting for missing textures to get fixed. Coming up to 4 months now. 🤦♂️
Hi Ben just to let you know that I've got the wolf pack trucks and I love just two of them out of three, that's the 57X, and the 47X NF 1424. These two are my only US trucks I've got because all of my others are Russian or Ukraine if I'm right?. But also I've had to start from the beginning showrunner because my xbox one got hacked and I lost almost everything on there. I hope I get a reply from you soon from Lennie from Bourne Lincolnshire 👍👍😃😃

This was definitely the first DLC I did not buy. I want to support these guys because they do great work but if they are going to keep putting out pointless and almost unusable junk just to fill space then I'm not going to keep giving them my money...

What's the point of add these trucks wich are so useless?
No point in using them if they have no AWD.
I fail to understand WHY they don't add awd and diff lock. Oh well, where the devs fail the modders pickup with 'fixed' trucks and highway maps.
Sadly a DLC that should have been polished a bit more before coming out, not looking good for Saber.
Even just adding diff lock without changing anything else on these trucks would make them acceptable. As they are they're pretty much useless
Standalone content is getting very very VERY annoying, as for this dlc everyone seems to think its very not great, although i will say theres a mod for New Zikz Variants, that include that absolute monster of a truck from the Flooded Lands map in mudrunner!
Instead, it is the fans that are howling about what a failure this DLC is.
I liked the wolf pack from the start. Those fans probably don't remember that some of the other trucks didn't have AWD at first when they were added to the game years ago.
@@SnarkyRC Well, to be fair those AWDs were likely added because of howling fans like them. While fans like you that pretended to like those trucks from the start actively stood in the way of improvements to the game.
This is literally a glorified beginners pack. This should have came out back in season 1. I will end of buying this, and just hope for that Highway map on season 9.
I started a new game using this DLC to see how it goes. So far it's working OK. I'll probably have to expand to other Daimler Truck products (114SD, M916, 49X, etc) to finish both Michigan and Alaska.
But these trucks weren't around then when the game first came out, these are brand new trucks.

Rubbish for me :/ I preffer see much more rare offroaders instead of highway useless trucks in offroad game... What about russian MAZ 543? I hope it will be introduced. There is a lot of interesting trucks as well.
My wallet is always open to the SnowrRunner Devs. Looking forward to the other mysterious scout truck dlc or hopefully free LC because it will have the best horn in the game so far.

5 euros huh ??? Try Valorant where you can't even get half skin for a fuckin gun for 10 euros, you get a wholeas 3 trucks in a quality game like SnowRunner

A Highway semi truck in a game that doesnt have any highways. Its something else but right now rather useless in this game. Lets see how much this game gets into farming Simulator and ATS territory...
Howling success more like a flatulating failure basic tires, terrible add ons, only 1 even gets diff none get awd total bait move by Saber

Imo the most useless dlc so far. The trucks are just bad in every aspect. They might have been okayish if they were released together with the main game. Could be okay for the first 1-2 maps but for all year 1 and 2 maps they are completely useless.
Worth the 5€? Definately not
