WHERE IS THE WESTERN STAR 6900 TWINSTEER LOCATION?
North East corner of Island Lake, you have to pull it out of a swamp. Needs 360 litres of fuel and 608 repair points (it's a thicc truck).
WESTERN STAR 6900 TWINSTEER UPGRADE LOCATIONS?
MapRunner.Info has specifics. Basically, the OffRoad gearbox is in Drummond Island, Michigan, while the Highrange is in Mountain River, Alaska. The Westline V16 M2450 lives in Pedro Bay, Alaska. Raised suspension, meanwhile, can be found in White Valley, Alaska.

This truck is an odd one to be sure. It's a part of my ingame fleet because I save a lot of money on trailers with this thing.
Exactly, I love the convenience. You just roll out and go. With AWD I would probably use it all the time.
This beast needs AWD more then the big CAT needs more frame attachments
You know you can return any trailers to the trailer store and sell them at full value? The only ones that vanish are when you are doing a timed competition. My favorite trick is to pull up a maintenance trailer, refuel and repair, and sell it back.
this truck was a staple for me in Michigan
Ziploc it can be time consuming to bring a trailer all the way back to the trailer store after a mission though.
This is one of my favorite trucks. You can now also get a AWD unlock for it. It gets through anywhere, you just need to be careful so you no not flip over
honestly, I love this damn thing. The turning circle hasn't really affected me and it's great for saving money on trailers. It has treated me really well in Alaska and even managed to get through thick mud with a popped tire. You just need to plan out your routes a bit more meticulouly, , which means you may need to take the longer, easier ones and know your maps well, but the speed in high gear and surprising maneuverability more than makes up for it. I'm not selling this big boy anytime soon.
I didn’t have to drag it the garage I just repaired and refuelled it
Same, then after i claimed it, i took the gas back out, put it back in fuel trailer, topped off crane truck. Then recoverd to garage. Aint no way i was sending that thing to garage with full tank😂😂, now i got a matainance truck, fuel trailer , and fully gassed scout, and crane truck just waiting for the rest of the fleet..
That is literally what he said you had to do
What is lacking in Snowrunner maps?
Actual highways... would be nice to have some of them passing right through the map, connecting perhaps 2 or three points with a couple mission locations. Sure, we'd have to use offroads for most missions, but at least trucks like this (and more importantly, highway trucks like the International) could be used more often without being an absolute PAIN :'P
It's the same problem with chained tires. You drive for about a minute or two on icy roads, and then you have a huge snowbound trail to drive on what amount to garbage all-terrain tires.
This truck is missing one feature. It is missing it’s unfolding trailer hitch which makes sense because it is very long. Maybe if snowrunner adds an Australia map it can haul trailer and keep its two spaces for cargo
We need an Australian map even though the trucks are left stand drive
indeed, would block one cargo space, but allow you to hitch a semi trailer.
You’re absolutely right about the flip over fifth wheel. But it’s also missing it’s built in crane. Look up oilfield gin poles you’ll see what I mean
the new russian region is Kola, and guess what, It's the place where they dug that deep deep hole apparently to heck
Thanks, good to know.
Can't wait to drive off the edge into the abyss...
when i first got it i sold it because it doesn't have AWD. then i bought it back and i realized it doesn't really need it anyway.
if it would be availabale it's only drawback would be it's size.
it's an Aircraft Carrier with Wheels
Haha yes it is. I nearly ditched it too, seems to be a common initial reaction. But I've found it genuinely useful recently.
Actually the rusted square at the back is a hydraulic saddle that could be folded out to the back, it would be cool if it worked and you could pull a semi trailer
@@dhirpatel7187 I thought that was for another wheel? I guess it's configurable.
Can it make the trip safely from Smithfield to island lake with a full load? I need metal out there, and i take the route that gets sketchy at a certain turn.
@@knicksfan3647 yes od course, but why xd You got 3 semi trailers with metal on Island Lake ;)
these twin steers are very common here in Western Canada, with the powerful Deck winch and an A-frame on the rear they are used in the oilfield extensively, big time real life offroad, mud and snow.
I'd love to drive one for real.
Finally, some love for one of my favorite trucks pared with the perfect amount of dry British humor.
Great job with the videos and congratulations on your channel doing so well, you have earned it.
You're too kind, it's nice to see people actually enjoy my videos. I'm here to stay.
Great vids, they have been helping a lot with learning the strengths and weaknesses of trucks. Hope you hit 10k subs soon
Thanks, nice to know they are helpful. I just hot 7,000 so hopefully not too long. I'll have to do a celebration video of some sort.
I really like the twin steer, I just wish it had all wheel drive this would be the truck of all trucks due to the length of flatbed to not need a trailer is very convenient
It finally does
Thank you for posting these SnowRunner videos. Your take on the game is unique and appreciated. In my career I acquired the TUZ 166 and sold it immediately because I thought that it would be useless. After I watched your video about the TUZ I purchased it and have loved scouting around in it ever since. It truly is a capable little car. Then you covered the Tayga (King) and I had to get it. It really is a beast.
I enjoy your dry wit and British humor (I'm from Texas and that's how we spell it). Don't dial it back for the people that might not get it. I'm an Anglophile and have been to Britain about 8 times now so I get most of your jokes and references. The way I look at it is that all the money I spent travelling to and from the UK is now paying off.
Nice comment, made my day! I shall stay as I am so worry not. My bad jokes are here to stay. Hope all is well in Texas.
Three vehicles I hated at first. The starter GMC the Cat in Alaska and the twin steer. I still don’t love the cat because of the way it steers. But the twin steer is one of my favorites now.
Legend has it that a twinsteer on the verticle axis will touch the moon.
Also could you review the modern derry longhorn.
I personally love how convenient this truck is, and with proper driving, it will go just about anywhere. Good vid bro, keep it up👍
Good info espesh on where to get the upgrades.
There’s actually a Western Star dealership very near my work, it’s great to see stuff like this for realsies. 😃
Any twinsteers on the lot?
Awesome video Ben!! Very funny. I'm sure ill get round to finding it eventually!
This is probably my fav modded car, since you can attach a trailer, a crane and awd. Making it enourmous fun to manouver it incl. a trailer around the map. Also the crane helps a lot when you kinda tipped the cargo
I haven't had the chance to upgrade this guy yet, but after winching a trailer behind me and being able to carry 1 steel beam, 2 wood planks, and 2 bricks to knock out an entire quest in one go....I'm a fan. And now I hear it gets awd! Woohoo.
This monster was originally built for the Canadian oil field, it does have awd and the 5th wheel is hidden under the plate at the rear. The truck was build to carry oil field equipment into tough spots.
I heard about the fifth wheel, sounds cool. Thanks for the info!
A Tribe Called Cars these trucks are also not normally driven on highway when transported long distances they are normally loaded onto a trailer
I really liked this video, Man! I just fixed this truck today and, at first, I didn't liked it to much, but after some time it becomes pretty fun to drive this beast! Really challenging, but fun when you master it.
Greetings from Brazil, and now you can tell your friends that you have a brazilian fan (with really low standards for jokes)
That's awesome, always cool to hear people enjoy the videos and my jokes. Especially from miles away! I've not done Brazil except in Microsoft Flight Simulator. Hopefully one day. Peace.
I'm actually very excited to get my hands on this truck, I've seen them multiple times next to my road truck and the game never really conveys just how massive they are, for some reason when I was at Flying J in Gary, IN granted it wasn't a twinsteer version, it was still a 6900XD, and it and it's tanker had about 3+ of ground clearance. It had Ontario plates and registration btw.
I love the twin steer, as long as you got a good winch it will go anywhere I always winch the rear end around when making turns. Makes it way easier
Considering it has AWD now, the Twin Steer really is a beast! Had trouble with Maine until I got the off-road gearbox and the Twin Steer. Careful driving and you rush through nearly every task...
Slow and steady wins the race.
@@ATribeCalledCars
Slow and steady often is much faster than fast and hasty. SnowRunner proofs this from time to time...
That short but sweet summation of the Azov, hits the nail on the head. God I went up the snaking paved road in Michigan by the quarry? Legit started snoozing a little on the way down. Efficient but my god. My brain.
Excellent video buddy. Keep it up. Heres to 10k!
Cheers, Ethan. My next video is about the Azov 64131...
@@ATribeCalledCars Big hype!
Thanks this encourages me to teach Western Star 6900 twinsteer greatness when I get that far. It definitely looks like a truck to enjoy the journey with. Nearly posed myself as usual with the dry pithy wit you provide. Happy days from Taiwan.
A very distant fan, welcome! Glad you like the videos. TwinSteer is definitely a beast. Second fastest truck in the game actually.
I love this thing. Gets everything done, ploughs through everything due to its size, 4 slots without a need for trailer.
Honestly most people hate this thing just because they see it has no AWD and it's too big so they think it's horrible without trying it. You just to give it a go and get used to it, I have no issues with this thing, yes it is a big boi so turning circle isn't great but like I said, just need to get used to it
Exactly, the lack of AWD isn't so bad and it's got serious momentum on its side. Highly underrated truck indeed.
And now with the AWD upgrade out this is an unstoppable truck
Damn right. I'll be trying it again on the container run.
I like your verbal creativity! Great job!
Thanks very much.
Honestly your so funny man, you edit and talk like your wayyy bigger than you are right now. Keep up the great work and I’ll always be a fan!
Big thanks, Jack. It's taken a lot of practice to get half-decent. Glad people have noticed!
that Sandrunner comment makes me want a North Africa map or Australia map... would be fun to dune run or wander the outback.
Forza Horizon 3 Australia was cool! And North Africa would be really interesting I agree.
Hahah always looking forward for the next content and not a dull moment. The idea of saving trailers is really good, might consider this and the challenge. 👍
Cheers Benson, I try to keep things interesting.
Been loving the videos man! Keep it up.
Glad you like them! More truck reviews and some real-life versus gaming stuff too. Trying out some different things.
I love the sound of that spoolly snail
Just found this one yesterday and tried using it in Russia. Oh dear, I don't want to do that again in a hurry. I got stuck with the back wheels in a mud pit unable to push the long truck up a small hill. It's like trying to push a pencil from the back end only. AWD would make a big difference; without it almost any vehicle is hopeless once it gets off road. As for engageable diff lock, yes I damaged my gearbox driving onto the hard stuff, so that was nice.
It might have been useful for road-based missions in Alaska where I needed 4 slots of something moved from A to B, but those are rare. I think this one goes in the Jay Leno museum.
I love the Quad steer mod..adds rear steer and awd. Once it starts turning it REALY turns. It makes it a Tree murdering machine! Great vids keep up the awesome content.
Cheers Red!
I like the music in the backround at 1:38 it's some of my fav music also it pops up at 2:31
I giggled like a little kid when you hit the Don.
Glad to hear it!
The TwinSteer is a great truck, a lot more capable then people give it credit for and carrying 4 cargo lets you complete many tasks in 1 go.
Ah yes, the true scout.
I'd love to see if it can get up that spirally mountain path in Alaska, the one with an upgrade at the very top. Could be comical.
@@ATribeCalledCars I used the twinsteer for most of my scout missions in alaska... often times i hook the front to a tree and drive the front end off the cliff just to turn. who needs a tight turning radius when you can just steer with a winch?
This truck DEFINITELY takes some getting used to, but I've been using it for a while now, learning what it can and can't do, and I've managed to get pretty handy with it.
I love this truck. It's become on of my favorites since stumbling across it. Sure the lack of a trailer or any body addons can limit it's usefulness but it's so much fun to drive and it's a beast that goes through just about anything. Also, with all the winching points you can almost always push it in the needed direction if you do get it stuck. Also it now has AWD available which make it even more of a beast.
Glad you like it, I still use it a lot. That is, until I get careless and tip over...
@@ATribeCalledCars I tipped over 3 times within 200m I took the short cut 😒
I see a fellow highrange gearboxer here. Seriously, put the highrange in all your trucks guys, get going like 10km/h and drop ‘er into high gear and you’re gone! Fellow SnowRunners will be left sucking your dust into their intakes and asking themselves “what does he have that I don’t?”. You can absolutely send it up hills fully loaded at almost full speed. The Voron AE is an absolute speed demon with the Highrange Gearbox. Same with the Azov.
It's hard to go back to the off-road gearbox. Highrange is so good.
A Tribe Called Cars lol yea man! Shit, you don’t even really need the off-road gearbox with the highrange cause usually you’re going so damn fast you just shred through the slippy/muddy parts.
I originally sold this truck because I percieved it as being useless. This video showed me the fun I could actually have with it, I saved up and purchased it back yesterday. Thanks for the superb Snowrunner videos!
Glad you have added this beast back to the fleet! Will do you proud.
You said if there was a speedometer and a distance measurement it would me more scientific. The interior speedo does work and the waypoint shows the distance in miles/meters! Also the Siberian map will be Kolskiy Russia, where there actually is a downed German bomber in game and real life.
It does work but you can't see it in all scouts and it's not very easy to see the exact speed. Also distance isn't specific either and it needs a reset to be effective. Sounds cool about the bomber!
A Tribe Called Cars I do agree, i find it hard to find out how far I’m actually travelling and sometime the characters arm is in the way of the speedometer so I have to turn to see it, which obviously isn’t really an option most times.
Way down I'm island lake this one became my resume vehicle once it was unlocked as I was too lazy to go and bring another vehicle down. It did surprisingly well just with the stock parts on.
The WS 6900 TwinSteer is my absolute favorite truck in the game. It's my first choice whenever possible.
Haha! I could listen to you talk about anything! You crack me up! Honesty is a rarity. 👍
Thanks Simon.
Not much of an off roader, but I’ve moved lots of material with this truck. If you can stick to a smoother route, it has a big tank and moves lots of volume at ease.
Which surprisingly serves it really well in the region you find it in.
It just plows through the swamps like they aren't even there. Could be even better after getting the AWD upgrade. :)
wanted to hate it when I first found it but it works weirdly well. Now with the update I am working to get the awd, should be a beast
I've seen trucks like that Western Star as a kid in Oklahoma. They're used for oil field work.
I like this thing. Even tho no AWD, it rarely gets stuck when you use it in the proper environment. In Michigan and Alaska this thing kills. By the time the rear wheels get into the muck, the fronts are out so it's only pushing half the truck through the mud. If that makes sense... Thanks for a great vid
The thing is these trucks are mainly used in Alaska and Canada in real life and you dont have to worry about the length and steering since where they are used are mostly open land
I can't believe you spent 7 minutes reading comments 😂
Also my favorite part was trying to get 6.9k to rift
Edit: the car in the end is a Bentley (duh!)
Yes I got carried away but I didn't really read many comments recently and it seems a lot of people enjoy it! The Rift moment is scary, it's like the developer was having a big laugh. And yeah it's the new Bentley Continental GT W12.
I'm gonna try and move to rift using the 745C, now that would be a recipe for disaster 😂
I got the Cat 745C into the rift. That was a challenge. Takes some creative winch work but its possible Though your spawn point on the other side isn't always nice ;)
@@thisispartaa its possible but it's gonna take some creative winch work. And your spawn on the otherside isnt always nice. You might spawn sideways in the trees. :p
@@nfsfanAndrew yes! I did it too.. although I spawned just fine and explored the watch towers using the 745C..
I only used this truck to deliver the oversized container once then I used a semi trailer with a truck with awd and diff lock always on to go a lot faster and easier
the first thing i did when i got this druck was to drive it into the nearest bog... 10 feet away immediately got stuck
I was wondering why it was the Don DAN challenge... good thing I always watch to the end lol.
Haha I like to reward the loyal viewers. Also I thought it was a bit of fun.
@@ATribeCalledCars At first I thought you were using the help of a friend you called Dan or something, but it was too much of a coincidence that it was in all caps.
Small joint 😂😂 we only smoke big joints 😂😂😂 love the videos keep up the good work
In the top best scout really like that you put chevy in 5 because i love the design and performance
I really like it. I dident at first and just parked it but decided to try again and after a bit og geting used to it it's now one of my favorits 🙂
Funny thing...I’ve actually thrown my Twinsteer off that runway, and it did a perfect somersault, and the front end started floating! So me and my friends got it all the way to the island across from the runway. I still don’t know how the cab half of the truck was floating in the water, let alone any part was floating.
Strong effort, that's what I wanted to do. Can't wait for this beast to be AWD. Going to be laughably good.
I used the western star twin steer u for almost every mission I made sure to find it so I can haul more stuff without a trailer
Huh, looks like somewhere between this video and now it got an AWD. Was very sceptical when i first saw and recovered it. But gotta say, after some upgrades this weirdo won my heart. Why? Because it has character. Thirsty, turnradius, tipping point with bigger cargo... ground clearance when terrain angle changes quickly. On the plus side though... 4 slots on the back, no trailer needed. And the no effs given attitude - with that power, AWD, Diff and pretty intimidating rubbers - it takes a lot before this thing asks for a little winch support. Still in the end, i tend to agree - its a unique experience and challenge going with this behemoth. Not for everyone, even with added AWD.
I use it for the timed contract that starts close to garage, hold 4 slots, 3 are needed.
Better then recovering and leaving trailers.
Does it in 2mins or less.
This video needs an update, the AWD changed everything. This is one of the fastests an strongests vehicle after that upgrade.
RUclips is the reason I went from a F in school to an A in apprenticeship in English
Love this truck cant wait to get raised suspension for it
Worth getting indeed although it does add to its tippy nature.
It now has four-wheel-drive
Yeah all the better for it.
As an American I will declare: British humor > American humor.
I find this vehicle useful for only deliveries with wide roads and good road conditions as otherwise you're either gonna flip, get stuck or run out of fuel. Honestly, it never ends in another way.
making smart use of the wench in turns when theres a sturdy tree available makes this thing turn on a dime. also when backing up just use the wench in the direction you want the rear end to go
Now with the AWD upgrade this thing is freaking amazing! One of my favorites!
A beast indeed!
With AWD you get this sucker moving a little bit and throw it in High gear and watch it take offff
this truck is beast.....get the AWD upgrade and best engine, then you can go anywhere easy & fast
Don and dan bowling should be done with the DON 71 and the DAN 96320
You're right, although neither is fast enough. Must be a three-letter first name thing.
You got my subscription, great video.
Welcome aboard and thanks!
Lmfao "Tough shit Katherine Curtis" lmfao
No they weren't connected sentences! I hope it didn't come across that way.
@@ATribeCalledCars it kinda did.. 😆.. Delete the comment if ya want...
It's clearly about the jokes then I go on to say about her talking about the new map being in Siberia. Definitely not intended, I like to joke but not be mean. Not my style :)
@@ATribeCalledCars and i took it as a joke... I would've lmao if it was my name after T.S. hope I'm not coming off as critical. I loved it
Haha I know, no worries. It's more if Katherine reads it and thinks I was being mean!
A redditor mentioned that the Twin Steer might seriously nerfed compared to real life. Rumor has it, the real truck is full 8x8 and has a hideaway 5th wheel hitch. I'm inclined to believe this, especially about the hitch since the truck is modelled with it. Press your AWD key and a message pops up saying AWD not "installed" which makes me suspicious about later updates and/or DLC content.
I hadn't noticed that about AWD, an accident or intended?
@@ATribeCalledCars A very good question. I haven't properly fact checked the redditor's claim or what other non-AWD trucks say when AWD select is pushed with them but it begs the question nonetheless.
I use it to move lots of good from place a to a central location where other trucks take over to deliver to different locations I also winch with a trailer until a nice mod has appertains what also had all wheel drive :-)
Spoiler alert, wierder trucks might still be released, and otherwise look for the Octotruck mod. Me? I'm sticking with the Voron, BM17, CT680 and the CT 9000 for now. But will try the Twinsteer too.
So Don and DAN bowling could be made more difficult by having the DAN lift the Don in the crane right? Or maybe different cargo types?
So the real trick is ofcourse getting your comments in the next vid. That, and i like the subjects, humor and edditing.
Thumbs up for a comments video. I always watch to the end! lol
Hmm. The 6900 Twinsteer may have torque and power. But it can't outspeed me!
Suomi Perkele!
english, we're still on earth
The missions for drilling equipment in the map where the truck is found, felt like it was designed specifically for it.
I agree.
A HUD speedo would be fare more useful to me than the ridiculously unrealistic fuel gauge meter.
Ok so two things, I watched this a second time and actually watched the whole thing this time and ya doing a comment video once a week or something would be cool. Second, the way you took out that DAN even with its legs down....wow...we respect for the twin steer, especially now that I have the new awd for it.
Got this game recently and it's been an absolute blast. What's your opinion of many of the heavy class trucks? I enjoy the Pacific p12 with its maintenance trailer but I'm curious about your opinion.
Tbh this is actually my favourite truck. I’m also looking for answers to some questions about certain missions.
what pissed me off was when i tried go down the quarry in michigan with that thing, it might have difflock, but not even crosslock, so the front rear axle was hung up with both wheels not spinning, while the rear axle was in the air, both wheels spinning.
Ahhh, yeah. The quarry has been the downfall of many of my trucks. Definitely not TwinSteer-friendly.
I thought this truck would be a complete joke, but after giving it a chance, it's great! The real truck has a retractible 5th wheel, which would be a great add, as I use the Twinsteer as much as I can.
It's so good and with AWD coming up I'll use it even more.
When it’s not tipping over and getting caught on something it’s definitely the fastest truck in the game
I scream, you scream, we all like ice cream. (And I like tea lol :)
I personally sold my TwinSteer for some extra cash because, well, I needed it and I couldn't see myself ever using it. It did, however, help contribute to my Azov 64131 fund. Great video though!
The Azov 64131 is a safer bet, so don't blame you. I just wish it was faster. Due to popular demand, it will be getting a video! Thanks for watching :)
Latest Test Server build has a 4wd upgrade for this thing. Should be in the next live update.
Yeah just made a video about the 7.0 update. Should be good.
Try the "Don and Dan bowling" ,but remove the car at the end and crane load the Chevy Pickup and either the Scout 800, or the TUZ 166. Make sure to put on the parking brake. Then chuck it off the cliff.
This sounds fun, maybe I shall return to this game.
I wish the saddle worked in game
Same. Also apparently it has a deployable wheel, which would be cool too.
The fact this beast is not AWD when AWD versions exist is bull.
It's a bit weird. I also want the wheel that folds out, apparently that's a thing also.
In my opinion, the twin steer is an absolute boss with its only weakness, bottoming out on bumps and the top of hills, etc. can just winch out most of the time though. For some reason it is really bad in multiplayer and has a top speed of 10ks. I think that’s a bug though.
I agree, I use it all the time just for the extra challenge
It's even better now with AWD.
Fun fact it can float and now has awf
A lot of you guys are confused on what this truck really is so I’m gonna tell you. This is what we in the oil field industry call a bed truck. It is used a lot in the oilfield in Alberta Canada and it is for moving oil rigs. They are really handy to use because instead of picking something up with a crane or a wheel loader and putting it on a trailer you just back up to whatever you need to move and use the which on the bed and pull it on top.the reason it is rwd and can’t be upgraded to awd is because most bed trucks are only rwd and a awd bed truck in the game would be really over powered.I have seen awd bed trucks in real life go through some stuff that shouldn’t be possible to go through like these trucks will take anything you can throw at it and keep going like nothing happened they are real beasts in real life and out of all my years in the oil industry I have never seen or heard of a bed truck getting stuck.
