Taller tires are better in all respect except for one; makes the vehicle tip over much easier. Had trouble with the Scout staying upright. Went to the next tire size down, same tire, helped quite a bit.

that's true but it depends.... some scouts like Chevy have not that tall tires to begin with but scout 800 on other hand have huge tall tires and it does make it tip over specially with roof rack addon but you can avoid that with autonomous winch

I just finished all watch towers and upgrade in Michigan with Chevy CK1500, forget how many times I tipped it over, but it always saved me. Alaska has mud too so chained tires are pointless also i've been running one of the Voron trucks from the Russian map in Alaska with all terrains and the thing has been phenomenal mud is the only thing that stops it most of the time but other than that thing's a beast

The Unhinged Gamer so what do you reckon all terrain or mud? In the video mud did beat all terrain a few times and if we take out the icy roads from Alaska mudtires may be the best?

    • @gamerdrive5565
      @gamerdrive5565 4 года назад +58

I can’t see the point in running anything but off-road or mud tyres, one of the Alaskan maps has a lot of icy roads which would be easier with chains, but once you hit mud and you WILL hit mud, nasty Alaskan super boggy mud, you’ll get stuck, better off learning to slide your trucks than use chained tyres, sliding big trucks is fun too.

@@gamerdrive5565 in depends on how calculated your playstyle is. If you are just brute forcing your way through all missions then mudtires are always the best on any map and truck, but if you try to plan ahead and use all trucks and position them strategically then all tires make sense even the highway tires although thats still very niche.

    • @gamerdrive5565

JohnnyCacao I disagree, by the time you set up multiple trucks plan routes and adjust trucks setups to take advantage of highway tires, switch load from mud truck, to road truck... the mud trucks done the job 3 times over by itself.

@@dr._breens_beard From my pov, cutting through mud or snow is less effective. Same for spinning tires too fast, it make the cutting faster which usually result in getting stuck faster.
With no friction and a large tire surface, the truck is sinking slower into soft terrain. Weight and speed are playing their roles too.
The key is to manage to get the most momentum, so the truck keep it's speed without allowing tires to cut through terrain. For ex, an heavy truck going fast and spinning its tires strongly can get stuck instantly in some places where it could have almost glide over the terrain surface.

There is one thing to add.
When you have variant tires - I, II, and III. Usually type I is the even one, and objectively worst. II is the one with better mud performance. And III is the one with better dirt performance.
Except I think OHD tires, where I is better than II for mud.
Road and dirt performance usually is not that much of a problem, so mud should be probably the focus when choosing tires. Mud is typically what takes the most time to traverse.
There is also the question of width of the wheels and such - wide giving better traction.

If you read what the tire says, some say poor, average, or good for the offroad, highway or mud/snow. So one of the same tire could be better at one of those, just look what the description says on the right hand side next time you're viewing the tires

For mudtire sizes comparizon, your are using a raised suspension for the CK1500 with big tire but not for the one with small tire. You should try both with raised suspension.

They don't infact the low bumpers are responsible for getting your truck stuck on broken tree, etc. Always go for a bumper which increases your ground clearance and also remove mudguards or fenders whenver you can as I noticed sometimes they can get stuck in trees or poles

Awesome, I love these kind of tests, conclusion for me is stick to mud tires and bigger ones and use chain if going in icy area. I my game I haven't leveled up enough yet so using all terrain right now, not really worth using them over mud it seems for small increase in speed on roads. Unless mud tires cant do road steep inclines, only test I see missing here that I'm curious about.
