Michelle I am just continuously in awe of how you balance everything - traveling first time with Eden, and since the pandemic, AND VLOGGING!!! Mama you are incredible. Just incredible! I loved this vlog - thank you so much for taking us along with you, I feel like I’ve had a little taste of vacay through your video! Wishing you, Raffi, and Eden a most fabulous Summer!!!! ❤️ ☀️ 🤗
Thank you so much for your videos Michelle.. I was diagnosed at the age of 42 and its been really hard adjusting.. Looking at your videos you are a true inspiration and you are showing me that we can still have a normal life with type 1.. Thank you...
Hi! My 8 year old daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 in January. She was having a hard time adjusting and it broke my heart. I show her your videos to help her see that she will grow up to be capable, and have a full happy life. Your videos show her that! PS She is getting a pump Monday🙂Thank you!
I was just diagnosed with T1D a couple months ago and your videos have helped me so much and made it so I didn't have to figure everything out on my own. Thank you and keep them coming! 😁
Aww thanks so much for letting me know, it means a lot. I am glad my videos have helped you during this time. I hope you are doing well and adjusting to life with T1D 💕
Another great video Michelle! Brings back many memories for me . My daughters are both into their 30ies and I remember learning to pack all their stuff and my stuff. I also remember how they started to help with packing, we all our lists and would check off our items. The girls would usually add extra supplies for me in case of lows. ( this was before dexcom) and the learned to recognize the early symptoms and would tell me or my husband that " mom needs some juice". Pretty strange when they were keeping me safe. You will enjoy many more great vacations and get into a system as with all our type 1 adventures. Thanks again
Great tips! When you remove your pump to swim for longer than 15 minutes, do you power it off? When I remove mine to shower, if I don't resume insulin after 15 minutes, it beeps at me very loudly. Do you just let your pump's alarm sound if you don't get back to it?
Hi Michelle! I am a bit afraid to take an airplane, 'cause I heard you can have hypos, do you usually detach your pump while the plane is taking off or landing in order to avoid that? Thanks, you are very inspiring!
Seriously considering switching to true steel. After pumping for 30 years it’s hard to find good sites anymore. Looking forward to your video on it to make my final decision.
Thank you Erin 🥰. and YES! I am so upset at myself for not filming more about that lol. So her mom actually saw my pump, approached me at the pool, and said "you must have T1D, so does my daughter!". We had a nice conversation and I ended up chatting with her family quite a bit over the week. Such lovely people :)
Hi Dear Michelle. I wonder if you realize how appreciated your honesty and sharing is for your viewers? Something you were eating looked delicious. A butter tart? If so, how did you figure out how to bonus? You seem to require very little Insulin when you have carbs. I need more. 🧡💙🙏
How do you keep insulin cool at the beach and while walking in the heat if you use pens? Does.it go bad on your pump while.outside? New mom of a t1d and we are traveling soon.
I am glad you had a great vacation. My one tip that I would add is speak to the pump company and get a travel loaner pump to take with you, just in case of a failure. I had a failure on vacation once and luckily I had a spare pump to switch to.
Yess! So I used to do this in the past for my vacations, but I was too frazzled packing for the baby and clearly forgot to contact tandem 🤪. Luckily I had a long acting insulin as a back up this time.
@@MichelleLord totally understand. We have twin boys and the stuff we had to take when we went on vacation was crazy. I remember my wife pushing the stroller with the boys and I was pushing an overloaded cart though YYZ and watching the bags fall off the cart getting onto the elevator. I can laugh about it now but it was very stressful at the time. I was new on the pump just after they were born and I did not take anything with me other than extra infusion sets.
It's good to see that you are doing well. Have you thought about making a video about extra precautions diabetics need to take care of babies/toddlers? It must take some planning and preparation! Thanks for the update!
11:22 @Michelle Lord : Post prandial glucose: Did you know that diabetes or not, regular folks get spikes after lunch ?! This is normal and expected ! Nothing to worry ! Furthermore, we did some tests with CGM on non diabetic persons. We where really surprised to find that during the night, their BG level would drop to 3.5mmol !! I guess the human body is a very strange machine !
Lol I eat 1 salad (W/olive oil and vinaigrette dressing that I make myself) after more than 10 hours of fasting. Outside of a sprinkle of dried cranberries on the salad, literally like 8 berries, there’s no other carbs, and my blood sugars look like your “pancake” blood sugars, EVEN AFTER IVE BOLUSED! 🥹 I keep complaining about insulin resistance, but because my A1C is less than 6, I often feel like I’m not herd. Is it such a foreign concept for type 1s to have insulin resistance? It’s been so stressful, I basically am scared to put anything in my mouth now
Oh I really wish I did haha! I’m on maternity leave still (we get about 1 year in Canada). My maternity leave ends in September, so luckily I get the summer off ☺️
Mam u r so motivating but mam when a cure will come I want to be free again freedom from fear, freedom to live a life at the fullest again when a cure will come😓😓😓

What a great looking vacay you had!thanks for sharing it, and everything else in your T1D life.
Your content is so helpful.
Baby girl is getting so big! So glad to see you back! I have the same pill organizer and I love it. So wonderful for traveling with it too!

Hi Michelle, what is the bag you used for your 1 week of T1D supplies? Oops I just saw your note about it not being available. Keep being you!

What is the name of your travel case for your diabetes supplies
I love your videos Michelle! Thanks for sharing your trip with us! Did you end up chatting to the other T1 you saw?
Thank you Erin 🥰. and YES! I am so upset at myself for not filming more about that lol. So her mom actually saw my pump, approached me at the pool, and said "you must have T1D, so does my daughter!". Do you take off the cgm as well when you go in the water?
Hi
What is the best way to travel with insulin?
And do you have any tips for travel in to Canada?
Thanks

I'm going out of the country for three weeks. Do I just call Tandem and ask for another pump for that time frame? Thank you.
Your baby is growing so fast. Looks like you had a great time.
Too fast! She will be 1 so soon! Thank you 🥰

Thank you🥰! That's a great video idea. It's definitely requires some more preparation 🙃

Can you share the name of the resort where you stayed? 😎 Looked like you had a lovely trip!
Of course - The Somerset on Grace Bay! I highly recommend it :)
Do you have off every summer? Enjoy your time? Xx
Oh I really wish I did haha! I’m on maternity leave still (we get about 1 year in Canada). My maternity leave ends in September, so luckily I get the summer off ☺️
@@MichelleLord that is so so nice!! The US does not provide much maternity leave at all 😔
