SPRINGBOK SQUAD FOR WALES | 11 UNCAPPED PLAYERS
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 8 июн 2024
- The international window is fast approaching and Rassie Erasmus has named his 35 man squad to prepare for the Test Match against Wales. Who are the new faces? Who is unlucky to miss out? And who could emerge as a star in the Test arena?
How is it that as a Saffa, I get my Springbok updates from a Brit😂😂😂. It feels like a much more balanced and unbiased assessment. Go Tim, you good thing!
Tim and Squidge for the win! 👍🇿🇦
This is a golden generation of talent coming through in SA Rugby right now. Will be very interested to see the growth of the team in the next 5 years
You can say that again. The scary thing is the talent at schoolboy level at the moment. The best news is that for the first time in schoolboy rugby history teams with predominantly non white players are starting to make our top ten and twenty schoolboy rugby rankings. This year Jeppe High beat Grey College and the Jeppe team was more than 50% non white. Durban High School is in the top ten and as far as I can see they only have one white palyer in their team. This is unheard of stuff. It is good to see all our communities are starting to produce top talent from schoolboy level. King Edward School has a 8 who is on a different level, Kebotile Maake, remember that name. The Grey scrumhalf McLaren is another name you can remember. I should stop, I am so excited about the talent that we are producing. I just wish we can get proper coaches at the under 18 and 20 Springbok teams. They totally under perform.
Andre Hugo Venter is the son of one of South Africas finest loose forwards Andre Venter
and dating Rassi's daughter 🤣
@@AizenIPlannedItand André Venter was Rassie Erasmus' flank partner 😂
Makes ko difference to his rugby playing ability ,plus he has all the pedigree ...@@AizenIPlannedIt
I love that you show the images of each player as you speak about them, thank you!
true helps a lot
Man, I wish you the best experience in SA!
Your content is brilliant - keep it up! Thanks so much (from a South African fan).
Very glad to see Edwill and Sasha have been selected
Agree 100%
Thank you Tim, for your analysis, I get more information from you than I do from our local SA rugby journos, not least because you put your videos out early and your honest opinion. I hope you have the best time in SA with a braai and a Brannes.
eeish Klippies boet..
@@DirkJacobsz You think Mark Keohane and "tha Money Man" do remotely good analysis?
I’m really impressed with your knowledge of the SA players!
And his pronunciation of some difficult names
I miss the days when Wales posed a big challenge to the Boks. Hope they're back to their best soon.
Five years ago Wales were saying this about us, for good reason
I think they are experimenting with new caps. As I think we will.
Don't worry, they will be. Their team is extremely young, so i don't think it'll be a problem.
We welcome you to our beautiful country 🇿🇦 Tim. Love your analysis
Incredible how you know the SA team URC has been good for SA
The future is bright for Springboks fans.
Only as long as Rassie stays. South Africa has never been shy of talent. We've just been shanked by piss poor management in SARU.
I dont even care to watch any other channels, thanks for always having a fair non bias opinion. Best channel ever🎉
You are 100% correct on Henco van Wyk. Thats now confirmed you know your rugby!
As an Englishman, I wouldnt be surpisded if the Boks go back-to back-to back World Cups.
To stop that all you have to do is teach them how to keep the lights on, then maintain and install other basic infrastructure.
We have the talent. It's down implementation, evolving with the new rules, and the easy one for Rassie and that's making these players believe they can do it again.
@@groMMit1981yeah because the UK is so amazing. Shite weather. Impoverished North. Feral kids. Stabbing epidemic. Boarded up houses. It looks and feels worse than Africa
you cant be champions forever, different players, different mind sets, also different players in the opposition....It will be a hard act to follow, the Boks can do it but will have to work much harder. At that level any one can win on the day, France, england, New zealand, Ireland, even Argentina and Australia can get a sniff, all have world class players, look at Scotland and even a resurrected Wales. Going to be an interesting WC especially the scrum issues and a new crop of players and talent almost everywhere..
@@groMMit1981 Definitely! What is more funny a 1st world country losing to a 3rd world country in a sport or your joke?
Appreciate you mentioning Henco van Wyk. He is phenomenal. Just hope that the recurring injuries don't shorten his potential (and most likely) Springbok future.
This is the best Vodcast on rugby...by far!!
Rassie is a star he devotes his whole being to rugby 🏉 and the best 👌 part about his love for his country betterment comes from the team teaching us South Africans to support our community and stand together for Victory....God Bless you Rassie and your wonderful work 🙏 Beatrix Strydom
Dr Rassie our real President of South.africa. the National Rassie congress ....viva Amandla son of Africa ❤
Moerat not up to bok quality at the moment unfortunately, definitely lucky to be included...
Tim we can't wait to host you in our beautiful country. Hopefully I'll see you at the game😉
Siya Masuku would get my vote for the best flyhalf in SA at the moment. I hope I see you at Loftus on the 6th of July Tim. Its going to be epic. Thanks for the content.
mani libbok with sacha at fullback taking goal kicks is so much better
@@webwizes5620 Manie breaths hot and cold. It seems that he doesnt have bmt yet. Poor performance this weekend.
Completely outplayed against the bulls by the Goose. Needs few more seasons to develop
Sacha is a better flyhalf than Masuku and Manie. Unfortunately Dobson is a muppet. I pray Rassie don't play him at fullback. I see yet another talent being wasted, by not playing the guy in his best position. He is only 22 and giving him time at flyhalf now can provide us with a talented flyhalf for twelve years or even more.
Our coaches are just to stupid to manage talented players. If Dan Carter played in South Africa he never would have been as good as he was. We would wave played him everywhere accept his best position. The Crusaders had Mertens and Carter. They played Mertens at flyhalf and Carter at 12, then the last 30 minutes they will take Mertens off and let Carter play at flyhalf. The All Blacks did the same. After a couple of seasons Carter took over at flyhalf and we know the history from there on. Why is the Stormers not doing the same? Why is Sacha being treated like a hobo? It is shocking to see how clueless our coaches are. 😢
@@steinjonah660 agree with u BUT just remember masuku is 28😅everyone is going on as if hes this young player
Lots of talent coming through, Siya Masuku is one that I think has got a bright future, Libbok might need to watch out that he gets overtaken in the pecking order.
P.S Great to hear that you are coming to visit our shores, the Irish sure are going to get quite a welcome at Loftus.
Masuku is 28...thats one short future if u ask me...hell be 3rd choice at best and if sasha and hendrikse start performing and youth 10s like Wolhuter, Koen and van niekerk come through he wont get any game time
Spot on re Sacha Feinberg-Mnogomezulu! A precocious talent. Why he is not the Stormers goal-kicker when he is playing is totally beyond me. He is deadly and an infinitely better kicker than Manie Libbok
So is my Grandmother. Just kidding. Go Bokke !!!
i think they try to give Manie as much kicking opportunity as possible as he is the 2nd choice No.10 for the Boks.
Sacha had a bit of cramp, therefor Manie continued kicking and thats why he was subbed.
Yep that is the million dollar question. Sorry Manie you are a brilliant player but your goal kicking costs us vital matches
I blame coaching staff for being morons at stormers not using another kicker.
Check out the U20 Boks. Several people will make the next RWC.
Hollard's double is also in that squad. :)
The depth is massive.
Masuku, Fassi, Nohamba - With the right support and encouragement they are some fantastic prospects
Think Nohamba is probably getting capped in a year's time surprised he isn't called up yet this year
Ur forgetting Sasha-Feinberg Ngomozuluin tht list of Names!!!
Fassi is exceptionally fast
Sacha is the biggest talent I have seen for many years. He reminds me of a young Pollard or Goosen. Unfortunately it looks like Dobson has decided he will use him to fill gaps instead of playing him in his best position which is flyhalf. Dobson is going to turn him into a Goosen, a jack of all trades but master of none.
@@yazeedcariem5684 100% 😄
Another great video Thanx!
Tim, *you*, WildKard, and Squigde Rugby made me fall in love with the sport. Gratitude, hope to meet you when you pull through to SA in a few months. You earned my subscription month ago !
Masuku ahead of Libbok, all day every day.
nah
Masuku did everything they asked him to focus on this season; tackling, more physical, improved paying both sides, attacking kicks. He is the closest I have seen to a Pollard
I’m so glad you mentioned those brilliant Bulls players who might be missing out. I honestly think without Moodie or Kurtlee Arendse, the bulls have a poor chance against Leinster.
Van heerden has been so brilliant. He plays like Mostert. Crazy that he was omitted! Nohamba is injured I think, would be there otherwise..Dweba as much as I like his physicality is the reason Stomers lineouts have been quite poor this year. He didnt deserve the spot and they dont need 4 hookers! Horne also unlucky to miss out but SA stacked at 8!
Your prediction on Edwill v d Merwe was spot on - Star of the future. His solo try was only eclipsed bt two try saving tackles in one second. Cemented his spot in the squad.
Super interested to see what Tony Brown does for attack. Always been potential unfulfilled. Think Fassi could be one to watch !!
not Fassi nooooooooooooo! His defense is woeful and his kicking game is worse. In this squad Sasha and Quan Horn are the real options
Heard Ethan Hooker played nr. 8 at school in KZN. Really enjoyed his emergence. Quick off the mark and he is a UNIT.
He's always been a centre. That number 8 game was a one off. He is not a loose forward
@@president6645 Noted. They made it sound as if he was a loosie turned midfielder.
Agree on Ruben van Heerden, Franke Horn & Henco. Would also throw in Dan du Plessis for the Stormers who could feel quite unlucky.
As for the three that I see a future for, it's Fouche, Dixon and vd Berg. Raw talent that fits the Boks' mould.
Great content ! get more info from your vids than our own journalists
Pepsi B for the win....yes I'm a DHS old boy...he needs this chance!
Quan Horn, Ben-Jason Dixon, Ethan Hooker - - - talent !!
Tim, I suspect my countrymen are going to feed you enough braaivleis to hold you a couple of years on your visit. I really hope you have a roaring good time here.
Oak is gonna have to hit the gym hard after he leaves SA... Tim is more than welcome:) True finatic, welcome at my pozi for a braai any day of the week. 🔥
Top analysis as always Tim. Looking forward to having you here❤
Your request for the top three is almost impossible, but here I go with my armchair assessment, no order of preference.. though maybe a little..Horne', Masusku, Neethling Fouche, Jordan Hendricks, oh dear already over three, I also want Buthelezi be nutured for Rassies next world cup squad, because that's what it's all about. They all have the X factor
Depth galore in South Africa Rassie is so spoiled for choice
Edwill van der Merwe isn't just fast, he's strong as hell too, he just runs through players.
You have tons of knowledge. Thank you.
Looking forward to your SA tour, Tim. Hope it's a smashing time for you and you make lots of new friends here!
Please travel with trusted/known people at all times, and follow safety protocols and travel routes.
God bless, and enjoy South Africa!!
Both semi finals for URC yesterday showed what the Boks can be going forwards - the Bulls were brilliant. Some potential Boks there - Hanekom as man of the match for one!
Thanks for the upload.
Not sure about Fassi (I have Quan Horn ahead of him at 15), but I think you might be right about both Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu and Edwill van der Merwe. The latter, in particular, is someone I think has been desperately unlucky to play behind Moodie, Arendse, Kolbe and Mapimpi, because he's been absolutely dynamite for the Lions. And he's much more than just pace - a real allrounder of a wing. Would love to see him get some Bok game time this year.
Dewaba needs a retread as a mobile prop. He isn't delivering as a hooker. Hachiva needs time in Europe to evolve. Nohamba is injured. You forgot JC Pretorius who also missed out.
Dweba cannot throw in at the lineouts. Why on earth even think of selecting him?
@brunoklynsmith9169 and his fetching at a ruck is also poor by our stds. Hence ai say move him to prop. He is strong enough, already in tue front row.
Yep, I thinker Venter should be the first-choice hooker for the Stormers.
Dweba has been a huge disappointment.
Much appreciated your unbiased view Eggchaser. All I can add to your view is - The Boks is dangerous very dangerous. 100% agree with your view re the weaking of the scrum by WR. I always maintained Boks has some serious wheels mate serious wheels. Agree with your 3 unlucky players
great show, well done!
love the content and I agree there is a great wave of players coming through the ranks but that isn't really new for SA rugby. what is so great to see how well transformation appears to be working in SA and I think this is on the back of what Rassie and Jacque have done with the current group of players. the real positive is that kids at grass roots level now have a lot of really good role models from similar backgrounds and we shouldnt underestimate how this influence the game in years to come.
100% agree with your assessments and selections. Apparently we’ll be seeing you down at Camps Bay TouchRugby. Ps Go to the wing, is a term of endearment for new guys 😊
Welcoming you to SA. Enjoy your trip! Weather in Cape Town is amazing at the moment. Great channel.
Agreed Tim… so much talent!
Love this channel 🎉
Cameron Hanekom for the future! Great video once again, thanks Tim!
You're going to have a wonderful time in SA. Don't let the pessimists deter you from exploring the country. Most people are patriotic and will look out for you, we treats guests very well in this country.
Couldn't agree more on Van Heerden, Francke Horn, Dayimani and Nohamba!
This is exciting i can't wait!
I am really excited to see what Tony Brown does with the Boks backline and general attack strategy...
Cant wait to see what rassie erasmus will be 'cooking up" for upcoming international matches!
I.M.H.O . Rassie is the greatest rugby mastermind of the modern era!
The results speak for themselves!!!!
Go bokke go!
Ruben Van Heerden not bring in this said over Moerat is almost criminal. Love Moerat, but Van Heerden has been the best forward in the country this season it feels like.
Agree 💯 Tim! Thanks for the great breakdown. (What is Dweba doing in the squad!!!????)
Ngomezulu has a good heard on his shoulders
Another great video Tim, thanks a lot. Sorry not to see Nohamba there, but very happy for Morne van der Berg. I do think Rassie will use this test like they did with that second test against Wales in 2022, mixing up the team. Not a big fan of Fassi, as I still think his defence is suspect and with the way the Boks play that is non-negotiable. Definitely excited to see what Tony Brown can do with this bunch of speedy youngsters!
Francke Horn and I played together in primary school, unbelievable player. Ever since he was a kid he was destined for greatness. Unfortunate that he didn’t make it but I’m sure he will in the future
I agree with all your comments. Great talent getting a bite at the old apple. Cant wait!
Once again Tim you're right on the money with your picks 🔥🔥🔥
South Africa got such talent at this moment I think it's time to build a team for the future
Edwil van der merwe, another Springbok wing with a scrum cap that is ready to side-step guys into the next dimension.😂
Simply fantastic vid! You know your rugby (especially SA rugby). I think Krappie, Fassie and Zulu will stick around for a while. I agree, van Heerden is the best 5 lock in SA (based in SA) at the moment.
Aphelele is pronounced as 'A-p-e-le-le' in our Xhosa and Zulu languages😅.
That even more confusing, it's Ah-peh-leh-leh
@@mazibukomail that’s better
@@mazibukomailthat's also confusing to a European, it's more like

@@TheLinzitoPodcast You're being sarcastic right??
Tim, I think you are a Lions supporter! I love it.
I agree with you on Salmaan Moerat.
Ag nee man. I don't really know Salmaan. But I came up with some of his older brothers.I had high hopes for him and I hope they come to fruition. They are a rugby family through and through.
Its great to have that sort of rugby legacy in your veins. As long as it translates to results on the field!
I will be routing for the long-lad. Let's hoe he can centre himself and start delivering the results!
I have been a Salmaan fan since I saw him the first time playing for Boishaai in 2015. Unfortunately he had some bad injuries. As much as I like him he just isn't at the same level as our best locks. I hope he can improve because he is a great guy.
Van Heerden had a monster season and he has made the most tackles of all the players in the URC this season. He made 224 tackles the next best in 200 and he had a 97% tackle rate. He is also second in the URC for lineout steals. Not much more he could have done.
@@wlk2408 I agree with you there. Maybe Rassie is looking for an extra captain to mix and match with top players around him who will give him the chance to play as expected.
@@wynandvanzyl8798 Very possible. In the 27 tests leading up to the world cup final, Rassie and Nienaber used 53 players. What I liked about their approach was to not just throw a bunch of uncapped players on the field but they gave them games with experienced players around them. The only exception was the second test against Wales. Rassie also made the call to not always start the game with his "best" players. He said that if you are good enough to make the squad you are good enough to start and that is what he did. I think the confidence that gave players that previously would have sat on the bench game after game must have been massive. Rassie knows how to handle players and put them into positions where they can feel confident and any confident player will perform better. Unfortunately some good players are going to lose out, we just have so much talent at the moment.
Hartzenberg and van Heerden missed out. But in Rassie we trust😎 Thanks for great content.
Great content 👌🏾 😊
Totally agree on Ruben Van Heerden!
Ruaan Venter (Lions) must also have been very close to getting a call-up. Young, hard as a rock, and so passionate.
Happy to see form being rewarded. One or two guys that may feel hard done by but the squad can only be so big. Be interesting to see who remains after the Wales test.
Love you Tim!
Nohamba was concussed quite badly v Stormers. Could be reason for omission
Look forward 🎉
I love Phepsi Buthelezi
Excellent Local RSA knowledge for someone offshore based, well done.
South African rugby is in healthy position so many player's available for selection and all are inform n performing their best at club level
…excellent one this one Tim : exciting times
Do NOT underestimate Rassie and his Traing Squad with new energy and instinctive brainpower on board⁉️
Thank you again
🪖
My chosen 3:
•Sacha (few would dare argue that)
•Andre-Hugo Venter (the Son of a Bok great, and I believe, future Capt.)
•Ethan Hooker (big, super fast, skilled, calm under pressure, and versatile. Plus SA do have quality depth concerns at Centre, as I see it)
Hi, as a geriatric, armchair connoisseur, I'd rather give you an idea of the backline I'd like Tony Brown to coach to the '27 WC final.
At 9, either Niel Papier or Paul de Wet, old trusty Polly at 10, Dan du Plessis and Henco van Wyk at 12/13 with Arendse/Kolbe/Moodie out wide and Willemse at 15.
Off the wall choices are at 9 and 12. Paper and de Wet are both very fast, sniping scrummies while Dan, like his dad Michael, are true ballplayers that turn their links into superstars.
Michael was the link, the "nous" between two Bok legends, Naas Botha and Danie Gerber and I'd love to see Dan, with the steady hand of Pollie on his inside, create space for Henco to unlock our speedsters outside..
Methinks it will become poetry in motion..
Wish you could analyse football matches😂. Certainly a very entertaining show😊
Biggest missing name for me is Suleiman Hartzenberg - guys has been amazing on wing and 13. Definitely one of the best Stormers players in the loss to Glasgow. Biggest nononono is Fassi. He should not be allowed anywhere near a bok jersey with his terrible defense and kicking. Otherwise great breakdown of this squad and agree with you on all the guys missing out.
Hartzebuerg brilliant but his defence is not up to it and needa more defensive technique
Unlucky for Nohamba, Hartzenburg and Van Heerden. Can’t blame Nohamba if he says yes to a mega top14 deal etc. South Africa has too much competition in every position it’s mad.
Nohamba is concussed from last week. Can’t be selected.
Siya Masuku is one to watch in my opinion
I really hope Wales are on the up, A proud rugby nation with an exhilarating way of playing. After the Cardiff V Ospreys game, I reads through some of the comments on BBC website and a lot of Welsh supporters seem to think Welsh rugby would be better if it was in the premiership, with higher attendances and more interest. I would love to hear your thoughts Tim on this.
Nohamba is injured.
Respect from SA
Hi Tim, may I ask what happened to the video of your tour of france, eg visiting Toulouse etc?
Nice to see some young guys getting a shot! I think Ethan Hooker will become a superstar, with the right people around him both on and off of the field. I also hope Andre-Hugo Venter shines!!
Feinberg Mngomezulu, Ethan Hooker, Siya Masuku, think those 3 are likely to have the brightest Boks future, the first 2 because they are class, Masuku because of the lack of competition in his position. Boks can’t rely on Libbok in big matches or in bad weather - that’s just my opinion tho
3 stars in the making, my thoughts are: Ethan Hooker at centre, Sanele Nohamba ( not in the squad, and a position chock full of good talent) Edwill VD Merwe
