- The Canon 90D video is a video that reviews the Canon 90D by showing samples and features first hand, instead of just talking about them. My goal is to show the viewer what it can do through multiple lenses and actual videos and photos and let you decide what you think about it.
Fast. Versatile. Impressive. Whether capturing high-speed sporting events or simple, everyday moments, the EOS 90D camera is engineered to deliver impressive results. Equipped with an enhanced 32.5 Megapixel CMOS (APS-C) sensor, powerful DIGIC 8 image processor and an ISO range of 100-25000 (expandable to 51200), you’ll achieve sharp, detailed images, even in low-light settings. Perfect for fast-moving subjects, the EOS 90D camera features a 45-point cross-type AF system* and EOS iTR AF (face detection) - plus high-speed continuous shooting of up to 10 fps - raising the game for wildlife and motor sports photography enthusiasts. And with stunning uncropped 4K 30p video capability, the EOS 90D documents your travels, events and other milestones in full, wide-angle view. No matter where your photography ventures take you, the EOS 90D proves to be the versatile, all-around SLR camera you didn’t know you were missing.

A well put together video the Sigma lens with the 90D is just awesome
Seriously one of the best YT vids on the 90D. Thank you!
You are doing a FANTASTIC job covering all aspects of the 90D. You made my decision to pull the trigger in a few months time. Thank you for your hard work!!
Thanks for sharing, like your format !!
I also have a T7i and was thinking of upgrading to the 90D or the EOS RP. Thanks for the great info👍🏻👍🏻
What a throw back with the tool time reference
Such a great video on the 90D. Balance between photo and video, so many YT videos hammer on and on about the no 24fps, as a pure stills shooter I could not care less and this review was excellent at showing off the stills with multiple lenses. Also no unnecessary dramatics. Exactly as the name sounds, practical reviews. Subscribed.
Thanks! I'm more of a stills shooter myself. I'm working on a video specifically testing the stills capabilities. I'm not 100% sold on it for stills.
Canon has anounced they will add 24fps for 4K and FHD in a firmware update.
Another great video Aaron! The best part for me was you showing the video and pics with your ef, efs, and third party lenses. If I didn't already have the 80D I might have picked up this camera. I don't do video but for those who do the added features for video make this a compelling choice. I just don't see much of a difference from the 80D to the 90D for a upgrade for me personally plus I bought the RP some months back. Keep on keeping on my friend.
Thanks John!
Thank for making this video. Watching the actual footage is always better than listening to the specs.. Thanks much !
Thanks for the awesome video. I just ordered my Canon 90D August 22 and can’t wait to get it. I’m going to put back some change for the Sigma lens.
Thank you
Nice review 👌 thanks
awesome ❤️ ... reviewing like this is superb...
Thanks for the sweet review! 👊👊👊
wow thats my fav camera..planing to buy ..i think i will
Hi, i have t7i and would like to upgrade to a higher resolution, i am looking for general use ,
portrait , wildlife , and landescape which i do like the most. And it will be better if i get a aps-c camera that I’ll be able to use my old lenses with it that’s why i want to know whether is 90D good and sharp for landescape or not. Because I’m on a tight budge. Thanks
Great video! Good info
wow nice vid man
Thank you
❤️❤️❤️
Another of your vids I thoroughly enjoyed. I binge watched 12 or so tonight. Cant help but to wonder when we will see a mirrorless camera on this channel. I've owned my 7ti for about a year and seriously looking at the eos-r/rp. However, I have a feeling Canon will be bringing out better iterations in the near future. But, its so hard to wait darnit! Thanks again for all your hard work brother.
I feel exactly the same, waiting for the next upgraded EOS R. I've been waiting for my next camera, it just hasn't come out yet.
Man I'm confused I'm a Nikon mirrorless user and this 90D got me hooked up,I love it so easy to use and great camera.
The video in 4k or 1080p really is excellent. Much sharper even in 1080p than my other Canon camera's with the exact same settings and lens. I still prefer a full frame for photos, but it's by far the best video camera I own.
@ Aarons Practical Reviews do you think the new sensor really makes a difference? I thought your images were excellent.. I am finding a great difference from my 70d.
4k video shot 90d , can we shoot movies to show them in cinema hall ?
Looks Awesome!
Great camera !
Great information!
So cool!
A great video, I got a very good idea of video and also stills.
Another interesting comparison video. Most of my RUclips viewing is on an iPad Pro. I wonder if that limits or downsized the video 4K vs 1080 P. Even on a 4K TV my old eyes do not pick up the resolution differences. Myself, I enjoy the video regardless, looking forward to some of your slow motion footage. Now I want an EF 70-200 - I didn’t need encouragement to buy more gear.
I enjoyed the stills especially liked your models. Here in the urban jungle, a coyote is as exotic as I’ll find. Can’t photograph them as I’m running in the opposite direction...
Very nice video
I just ordered the 90D and I already have the 8-16mm sigma, 18-35mm sigma, and 50-100mm sigma and some kit lenses. So stoked to get this camera. My shutter on the 80D burned out and I’m a working photographer that needed a new camera fast and couldn’t wait for it to get repaired. 80D will be the B camera or something.
How is the buffer compared to the 80D? I have the
UHS-II U3 SD Cards for the 90D. I hope the buffer is deeper than the 80D🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
Thanks for the review. It seems that the issue of the 90D not working well with older EF lenses isn't much of an issue.
Great review. Kinda torn between the Canon 6d Mark ii 50mm and the 90d 50mm when it comes to all around camera. Any suggestions?
For photography I'd recommend the full frame 6D Mark ii all day. For video the 90D is the best I've used.
Thank you for the review. It is a little over a year old but still informative. After a year of use what is your opinion of the 90D? I bought a T7i 3 years ago partly because of your review of it and I am thinking of upgrading to the 90D. I am a bit concerned though about the "so called" soft focusing issues with the 90D so I would appreciate you take on this. Go Buckeyes...
Best camera value on the market. I bought the new R6 as well and the 90D is pretty close in quality for half the price. Amazing camera all around.
Hi Aaron, super video to get a feel for the actual usage. Could you comment on the optical viewfinder autofocus tracking? DPR was quite negative, but I'm not sure I can believe them.
Additionally, would you comment on autofocus accuracy with the optical viewfinder using the f1.8 18-35 sigma?
Much appreciated!
I'm actually in the process of testing all that out this weekend. I'll have the video of my findings up soon. I'm trying to get a huge sample size to share, so everyone can judge for themselves. Strictly on photography with the 90d.
@@FitsandFun Thank you, that will be very valuable material!
Would like your opinion. I will be buying the 90d. I have an old Canon Xsi. I want to also have at least 1 full frame body. I’m thinking of getting the soon to be released R6. Is this overkill or should I get a full frame DSLR? It appears that canon will be throwing all their development into mirrorless. I have a few full frame lenses I can use with an adapter until I can afford the R lenses.
I'm going to make the jump to one of the new R# releases. Unless they release a new 5d mark v. Which I don't see happening.
Question......i saw a lot of negativ reviews about the tamron 150-600....especially the sharpness of the pics....but here they look pretty much okay....do you think that is because of the higher mp of the 90D?
And this is the G2 version?
Not the G2 version, and compared to the T7i, the 90D is definitely sharper. The T7i was getting pretty soft results. So I'd have to say the more megapixels makes the difference since the sensors are the same size.
Aarons Practical Reviews
Thanks for the response....appreciate it👍🏻
But hopefully not misunderstanding you, i meant the combination tamron 150-600 with the 90D.....that this lens acquires a lot of MP from the camera to Give sharp results...
Nice
Hi there. Can you tell me what frame rate you used in your editing software?
29.97
Love the hat! 👍
LSU's looking good, Alabama looks better than anything we've played. Curious to see how we do against a solid team, now that Penn State has shit the bed.
Thanks for the effort. Liked the review a lot. But it wouldn't hurt you to give it a smile every now and then instead of this "I'm the serious guy".
Hahaha, it hurts my face to smile. I'm horrible at the fake smile, not a good salesman.
I apologize in advance if my comment/question will be long. Strictly for photography, (I don't even have how to watch 4K), am I making mistake getting Canon t7i at the end of 2019? Somebody recommended Canon mirrorless over t7i and I've been deciding between that, Canon t7i and Canon D90, for me and what I need it for Canon D90 is not worth the extra $$$$. Everytime I watch your video I calm myself down that I made right choice going with t7i vs mirrorless, but since I did not pick it up yet, I am trying to confirm my desicion.
Originally I've waited with hopes that t8i would come out, but our family vacation is coming up in December, so I've decided to upgrade from t3i before that.
I am taking crush course on going manual but only to use it for nighttime photography, let's be realistic, we are going to Disneyland at very busy time of the year, and I am not going to add to my stress level getting a perfect picture on manual setting, so my plan is to use Canon 24mm, 2.8 all the time on my t7i, use Av or Tv with bracketing method mode when I will have a confidence in my settings and set it to auto mode (I think there is group setting available) when I take a character pictures plus have to hand it to the Disneyland assistant to take a picture of me too. Again let's be real I need good pictures not the best photo I took in my lifetime. What would your advise be? (I've been to Disneyland in the past, and most of my pictures - with kit lens were taken surprisingly at 18 mm, so that's why I think 24 mm would make a good lens choice for me)
My solution to this is very simple, I shoot in the P auto exposure mode, then I just increase the exposure by 1 full stop. For both video and photos it just makes it brighter. Now it does bump up the iso a tad, but I think getting a usable video or shot is more important than it being a touch more grainy due to the ISO, and that's not a definite that it will be more grainy.
I went to Best Buy yesterday with my old 70D and compared it to the 90D on display by taking a some non-flash test shots in the store and then downloading and comparing them at home. Granted, this wasn't a highly controlled scientific test, but I made sure to match all the camera settings as closely as I could. I put the 18-135mm Canon kit lens (not a bad lens, actually) on both cameras and matched focal length, distance, f-stops, focus points shutter speed and perspectives for all the test shots.
My main interest is macro photography, so resolution is important to me. While there was somewhat more fine detail in most of the 90D shots, it certainly didn't blow me out of the water and it wasn't nearly what I'd expected from a 12mp bump in sensor resolution and 2+ generations of image processor evolution. I shot all the photos at ISO 640, which is about my maximum everyday setting with the 70D, and I noticed there was somewhat more noise in the 90D images.
My verdict: More pixels don't necessary make for better results and 32.5mp(!) seems more like a selling point than a substantial improvement, at least for still photography anyway. I couldn't care less about video, so I have no opinions there. Nor do I shoot RAW, so perhaps those who do will have a different experience than with jpegs. I'm certainly not an expert, but I think Canon is using too much anti-aliasing and/or jpeg compression and fine image detail suffers as a result. All things considered, my 6 year old 70D certainly still holds it's own in the stills department and I don't see enough improvement in the 90D image quality to justify "upgrading".
I'm testing this camera all weekend, all stills. I'll have a better feel afterwards. Still don't have a large enough sample size to decide.
hows canon 90d with sigma's 150-600mm C lens ? Should I go for 6d mark 2 instead ?
The 90d is definitely sharper than the T7i with the Tamron 150-600mm. But not as sharp as the full frame 6D Mark ii. Pretty close though. I haven't used the Sigma 150-600mm, just the Tamron.
@@FitsandFun Upgrading from 1200d what should be ideal move. 90d or full frame ?
Full frame for photography, but 90d has much better video quality. I just think full frame photos look much better
@@FitsandFun Thanks
Some are reporting very noicy pics, even on 100 ISO,compared to previous Canon cameras, any comment on that?
I noticed that the cr3 files seem to react differently in Lightroom vs the cr2 files from the 6dMKii. I've only taken about 1k photos so far, and I'm still examining findings. But nothing obvious as far as noise or softness.
@@FitsandFun Thanks for the answer, can you say what ISO you used for those photos in the video?
So the part in the car around around 8:00 or so...was that the 90D also? Man that looks good.
Yes, I totally forgot to mention that it was with the Canon 40mm f2.8 lens. Razor sharp on the 90D, I mistook it for the 24mm f2.8 and thought it was just the crop factor.
Aarons Practical Reviews yeah I watched this on my 4K display and it was absolutely amazing. Good stuff thank you for your work.
I have seen multiple people report an issue with the 85f1.8
Thanks for confirming that, that would be a great lens on this camera. Hopefully they fix the issue soon.
They should fix this soon, anyone interested in eye autofocus, will try the prime portraits lenses, like the 85
Many people reported this error with 85 1.8 90d combo on the forums. I guess it will be remedied in the next firmware update.
Thanks for telling me, it worked immediately after on my other cameras.
Just read on the forums that the new firmware for 90d solved 85 1.8 and 100 f2 issues.
Yes! I installed it a few days ago. The 85mm f1.8 works great now, and they added 23.98 fps in 4k and 1080p.
Of all the 90d vids this among best. I own a lot of those Canon lenses. Do you own the newer 100-400 for birding? Interesting you’d even consider an APC coming from a full frame. Are you going to buy it? Is the 24 frame issue a deal breaker? You seem to do a lot of video. I’m mostly stills.
You love your Canon 70-200 2.8. That may be my next purchase along with the 90d. Perhaps refurbished from Canon or a Black Friday deal. I own the 80d but I’m thinking I’ll move up. May keep as opposed o sell for a good 2nd camera.
Anyway please do more videos. Perhaps some birding if that is your cup of tea - or just some more action shots. Thanks. I subscribed.
PS: In a lot of the 90 d videos to me it seems the skies are a washed out white color. Seems iPhones capture deeper blue skies. Have you noticed?
Thanks again.
Haven't noticed the sky yet, I'll keep an look out. Thanks!
For me, the 24fps isn't a deal breaker, I am not shooting professionally
I can really see the Movavi in this video lol
I love it, I can edit videos and cook dinner for 3 kids at the same time.
I knew you would... i can only view in 360p
It's a 21.4gb file upload. So it'll take an hour or so to fully upload to 4k. Not sure why RUclips does that, but it's definitely 4k.
Mostly about lenses? What about the review of the 90D? In comparison to other reviews, this one is lacking!
What do you want to know? The specs are on their site, along with all the new features. I suppose I could read all that to you like everyone else, but I'd rather show it in action and let you decide. I show lenses in action because that's kind of what you need for it to work.
Then, you have no idea how to do a "review."
Typical, complaining about a free video. Just stick to watching the salesman out there who do this for a living, buy their t shirts, Lightroom presets and online tutorials. And believe everything you hear. Never formulate your own opinion based on results.
@@FitsandFun I hate the negativity of the people on internet, it is so simple, if you don't like the video don't watch it.
I really appreciate what you do as seeing what I can do with each lens helped me learn so much from you - exactly not so much from somebody who pushes you to go full manual without directing you how to get there
One day I'll get that 70-200 just to look pro at the zoo.
Good idea.
What is it? It’s your video!!!
???
It's very nice for portraits, not so food for landscape because of it's poor latitude
