I have heard of a South African hyena a large black cave hyena that can mimic voices and actively looks to learn the names of people. It can then call at night either because they are out being mischievous or when they are lost. In my rpg I substitute this monster with the snl landshark and introduce a cruel and cunning trap-monster for anyone up alone on watch. Their call is difficult to avoid. Not a song like the sirens but with the pleas of someone you know or miss. Great way to introduce a new character, too once players are paranoid on watch. They didn’t even want to save him but they went to find out and it was in fact the brother of their friend who died just days before, lost in the woods and searching for his lil bro.
Sea hyena video when? Ok a serious note just jumbling all the hippocampus, (literal) sea lions and the rest into one video might be a good idea if you ever do it Just saying, there is a lot of these guys and not all of them deserve entire videos Well, maybe they do, who knows, you usually manage to pull out a bunch of lore I've never heard of even for the stuff I thought I knew well so I'm gonna leave it to you POINT BEING, great video, as per usual
I prefer to group creatures that share their most unique characteristics, but I see your point. There is practically no chance I can make a sea hyena or sea chicken (yes, those are a thing too) video stand on its own. I might cover them in a different format. The other two you mentioned have sufficient lore for their own episodes tho I think.
your the best channel to find medieval creatures
Your accent is a little hard hard to get through but your videos are relly good!
Keep it up 👍 can't wait to see more
Wow, I heard three of those names before- but a type of entelodont is a great fit

Now that is one scary pig. And as a country boy, I must wonder what it would taste like.
12:27 Joker moment Crocotta/Leucrotta
Yeah, that is the weirdest version I found. It is the only one that seems reptilian too.

They're not literal sea horses? "Hippo" is Latin for horse.
@@dubuyajay9964 read that again and tell me what the "literal" was applying to
@@matejacosic8686 You called them sea lions. Hippo is horse. Not Lion.
@@dubuyajay9964 heard of a leocampus you ridiculous bafoon
Dunkleosteus had ridges of bone in place of rows of teeth.🧐
Could you make a video on the bauk?
I'll add it to my list.
@@ACrowingCockatrice Thank you
Fantastic
04:36. Could this be a reference to the fact that female hyenas have dicks? Yes, that is a thing.
