Love Wynton Marsalis' fine playing, his band of great musicians, and most of all for his being such a fabulous ambassador of music bridging so many cultures together. Sachal Jazz Ensemble is wonderful. Would love to see you all in person someday soon. Thank you all so much for sharing your magnificent playing for us all.
A splendid combination of culture with classical musical instruments like the sitar and tabla. Bravo to the accompaniment between the maestros with the trup
The sitar is an awesome instrument and this guy plays well but in this sketch, its very poorly used and seems as if he is guided by someone else..i wont be surprised if he was told by Marsalis on what to play...
Wynton wouldn't know how to play a sitar because his unique style of music is Jazz. The indian musicians just follow the progression of the song and play it in their techniques. Altogether, these guys live and breathe music, so once practiced, it's not hard to play the song
Shahjahan khan hey why the hate brother, politically yes, his nationality is Pakistani but Pakistan is still a part of the 'Indian subcontinent' and people from this region of the world are simply referred to as Indians :) btw, I'm Pakistani too
"but clearly the Indian guests have no concept of the blues. " our blues"." I think that's what makes it cool. There's a hint of blues in their playing, but combined with a very different aesthetic. I'd much rather hear that than a poor attempt at straight blues on Indian instruments. There's always a danger of playing to the lowest common denominator in a collaboration like this, but I think they mostly avoid it.
Donald, you can't say they have no concept of the blues! They're experienced musicians who've travelled around and played all over the world. Every country has had their style of blues in their culture of music; obviously not played like the American 12 bar blues or in a Jazz blues style. What we see in this video is jazz fusion music.
Sweetest Blues I've ever heard. With all the Tears Blues ment in it.
These guys are amazing. It's like food with each ingredient grown from scratch and we are allowed to view.
I think it’s cool how he conducts

Keegan-Michael Key's dad is damn-near sinister on that flute. This is all so beautiful. No longer "the blues," but still fan-fucking-tastic.
