    Hi Abi, you’re the type of designer I aspire to be. I’ve always wanted to start a career in graphic design but wasn’t sure how I can transition from a hospitality background to this career. For many years I’ve been using Canva for personal projects. Now I’m learning to use Illustrator at 29 so I can get a job as a graphic designer even just at an entry level to gain experience. I hope it all works out for me and thank you for everything you do. :)

    Thank you so much for your transparency on this Abi!! I’ve been following you since I started school for graphic design three years ago. I deal with an invisible disability so I sadly had to withdraw from being a student, but I vowed to keep learning on my own l at home without the help of the local college. I’ve learned more from your content than I ever could have hoped for. I just want you to know that your content is so insanely helpful. You’ve been my eye into the industry and your demeanour is so friendly, kind and helpful.

It's very simple, yet very effective in creating a smooth experience for the client. Thank you for the detailed templates, too! Although I'm a little bit further into my journey (than just starting lol), I could always use the language in my own templates. And if I was just beginning, this is gold, the good stuff! Easy to follow and understand, straight to the point, and solid pillars for building an organized business. Thank ya!

    Hi! What are the main differences between your "Brand Presentation" and "Brand Guidelines"? Thanks!

    • @abiconnick
      @abiconnick  28 дней назад

      Hey Oscar,
      So there is a big difference between them both and they have different uses:
      The brand presentation pitches the visual identity concept to the client it shows the logosuite, fonts, colour palette and mockups. It's presented during the design stage of the project seeking client approval. Once the client is happy with the final concept, they sign off on the brand presentation (visual identity).
      Brand guidelines, on the other hand, is a document that outlines how to implement the new visual identity along with a set of rules and instructions ensuring the consistent use of it, so your client or their team know how to implement and use it across different touchpoints. These guidelines are delivered at the end of the project during the offboarding stage.
      Hope this helps :)

    ♥ Hi Abi, this is so helpful! I love your videos. I have a question about fonts (11:53). Do you buy the licenses so you can use them, and because who doesn't collect fonts, or do you download them free/for personal use to create the branding and presentation, and then the client needs to download/purchase them for client use?

    • @abiconnick
      @abiconnick  6 месяцев назад +1

      Glad to hear it, thank you :) So I always get my fonts from subscription service platforms like Envato elements (so I just play a monthly fee and get access to a bunch of fonts) then I leave a link in the portal for the cleint to purchase the font that was used in their branding. Hope this helps!

      No it's a course of mine, (see here: www.abiconnick.co.uk/the-client-process) that helps designers put together a process for working with clients

    • @abiconnick

      I vet them before working with them, I only take on clients who agree to my process, and actually want to work with me rather than just getting a quick logo

    Can I ask how the client sign the contract? I mean do you use a website, do they print it or the fact that they paid the first deposit equals to an agreement to the terms, or some other way?
    PS: I miss the crocs part of the video ^^

    • @abiconnick
      @abiconnick  7 месяцев назад +1

      Of course! I simply upload the contract into my client portal as a PDF. The client then uses Adobe Acrobat Reader (a link provided) to sign the contract and re-uploads this into the client portal.
      Haha, did you catch the Designer Boss Summit video? 👀

    I was wondering if someone can help answer a question , I recently did a fictional rebrand of an already existing brand and was proud of the work but still conscious if I’m allowed to post it to social media or not. No issue if I can’t as it was only for practice anyway
