  • The ceiling in the shop is 10 foot tall. Much too tall to hold up sheetrock or even OSB as a ceiling install. That is one of the reasons I have decided to go with plastic roof panels as a ceiling cover. These corrugated plastic panels are light wight and look nice. They are installed with metal roofing rubber washer screws.

Those roof panels are a great idea, saves on plastering, sanding & painting etc. Great work.

Looks good Seth! I like that you don’t have to paint that stuff. It appears to be low maintenance and easy to install.

No paint was a determining factor in my selection for sure! It was easy to put up but I had some issues with alignment.

I’ve done this under my second story decks as a ceiling. I use a fine tooth plywood blade - worked pretty well. Nice video

Yes! Lots of people use this plastic under porches to make a dry room. Seems like it will hold up forever inside like this.

Interesting. Hadn't seen this use before.
Where I live, a prelim step would be sealing the insulation to cutdown on drafts in cold weather.
Seth, what is the fire-rating on the panels?
    cheerio

The polycarbonate panels have a low fire rating. Looks like they can be exposed to open flame for around a while before burning.

Would this hold up R40 blow in insulation? Looking at different options for my garage ceiling

With the quantity of fasteners that I used. I should think it would hold up R40 just fine.

    Fire code?

These panels are rated to withstand fire and do not put off toxic fumes or drip.

For this space and working alone it has done well. I could have made the seams a lot cleaner but it's not bad.
